Abstract

Many of papers refers to study of application for FACTS. Especially for using reactive compensators for  500KV power system in order to increase the static voltage stability margin and transient stability enhancement have considered. However the  selection of suitable Var source (STATCOM or SVC)  also need to be considered. The purpose of this paper is to solve the above problems in order to suggest a olution of the appropriate shunt compensator for a reality 500KV power system. All the simulations for the above work have been carried out using MATLAB-SIMULINK environment.

Abstract

Implementing the Six Sigma control method is to use define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) framework to improve the process from the beginning, emphasize the process management, reduce the process time, eliminate the defects, and increase the passing rate. The aims of this study is to apply Six Sigma control method with DMAIC framework to shorten the power supply over time in order to enhance the power supply efficiency in T. power company (TPC). The result showed that the power supply over time was reduced from 66% to 30% in the Construction Work Second Section.

Abstract

Multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) film-based sensor on the substrate of printed circuit board (PCB) with interdigital electrodes (IDE) were fabricated using layer-by-layer self-assembly, and the electrical properties of MWNTs film sensor were investigated through establishing models involved with number of self-assembled layers and IDE finger gap, and also its ethanol gas-sensing properties with varying gas concentration are characterized at room temperature.Through comparing with the thermal evaporation method, the experiment results shown that the layer-by-layer self-assembled MWNTs film sensor have a faster response and more sensitive resistance change when exposed to ethanol gas, indicated a prospective application for ethanol gas detection with high performance and low-cost.

Abstract

MOS Current-Mode Logic (MCML) is widely used for high-speed circuits. However, the MCML circuits have large static power consumptions due to their constant operation currents. This paper presents a power-gating scheme for MCML circuits to reduce their static power dissipations in sleep mode. The PMOS transistors for linear load resistors of MCML circuits are used for power-gating switches. A power-gating control circuit consisting of NMOS and PMOS transistors is added for switching power-gating switches under the control of the sleep signal. The structure and operation of the proposed power-gating scheme are presented. In order to verify the correctness of the proposed power-gating scheme, several basic cells and a full-adder based on MCML circuits are realized. All the circuits are simulated with HSPICE at SMIC 130nm technology. The simulation results show that the power dissipations of the MCML circuits can be greatly reduced by shutting down their idle logic blocks.

Abstract

Dual-wavelength dissipation soliton (DS) in the all-normal-dispersion ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) is reported. Using a phase-shift long period fiber grating (PS-LPFG) as an all-fiber format spectral filter in the laser cavity, self-starting dual-wavelength pulses are obtained by nonlinear polarization evolution (NPE). The mode-locking mechanism of the ANDi cavity with different central wavelengths has analyzed. Experimental results show that the NPE together with the PS-LPFG play key roles in the generation of the dual-wavelength, meanwhile, a switchable dual-wavelength mode-locked fiber laser can achieve through change the polarization of the cavity.

Abstract

According to the control requirements of the leaves’ position precision in the multi-leaf collimator, the structure and working principle of the multi-leaf collimator in the conformal radiation therapy apparatus are described. The motor that drives the leaf of the MLC is taken as the control object. The module of the motor has been established. Then the PSO algorithm is used for the parameter optimization of PID controller that outputs the given expectation to the motor, in order to ensure the position accuracy of the MLC leaves. The experimental results indicate that this algorithm can meet the needs of the control precision of the leaves’ position of the multi-leaf collimator, and each control index is obviously superior to the traditional method for PID control.

Abstract

In order to conduct the gait recognition system, a wireless in-shoe wearable plantar pressure acquisition system based on ATmega16 and 8 FSR sensors was applied to data acquisition for the gaits which consist of standing, walking, jumping and going upstairs. And four volunteers (2 females and 2 males) were invited in this research to collect the pressure information. MATLAB and LIBSVM were applied to conduct all algorithms proposed by this study. Genetic Algorithm (GA) was used to set the best tuning (penalty) parameter  and the best  (gamma) of Gauss radial basis kernel (RBF) for C-support vector classification (C-SVC) model and the GA-based C-SVC was obtained. A dataset named ‘train-data’, containing 800 sets of pressure data was used to train the GA-based C-SVC as the algorithm of gait recognition. Finally a testing dataset containing 400 sets of pressure data was applied to test the algorithm of gait recognition called GA-based C-SVC. The accuracy of this GA-based C-SVC was 98% for standing, 91% for walking, 82% for going-upstairs and 97% for jumping. In generally speaking, a better GA-based C-SVC was obtained in this research.

Abstract

This paper presents a novel method for detecting saliency in static images based on image sparse representation. For each color channel, first, the image is partitioned into non-overlapping patches and each patch is represented by the way of sparse coding from a learned dictionary of patches from natural scenes. Then, global saliency and local saliency are calculated and fused to attain saliency of each patch. Local saliency is shown by popping out a patch from its surrounding patches. Global saliency is indicated by the rarity of a patch in the overall patches of the image. The final saliency map is attained by normalizing and fusing local and global saliency maps of all color channels. Experimental results in the benchmark image dataset demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a superior performance compared with most of state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, both robustness and the low computational complexities make the presented algorithm feasible for subsequent applications.

Abstract

Cascading failures are common in most of the networks, which can result in a congestion regime with degradation in the network performance. In order to investigate how a small shock can trigger avalanches mechanisms affecting a considerable fraction of the network, lots of failure models have been constructed. In this paper, Based on our AHP network cascading model, we have estimated how the efficiency will be affected when coefficients of K, S, T changed, we  find the fact  that the network efficiency of BA network is determined by its attacked types, and  the efficiency  is largely influenced by the attacked types of K and S, and under the same number of failure node, the efficiency under attacks of types T and I are relatively higher than that of the efficiency under attacks of types S and K , and the importance I is largely determined by the proportion of T, when the node failure number is equal, the higher proportion of T, the  higher efficiency it is  under I type attacks. We also tabled some proposals for reducing the damage that the networks suffered from the cascading failures.

Abstract

Through the analyzing of limitations on wavelet threshold filter de-noising, this paper applies wavelet filter based on compressed sensing to reduce the signal noise of spectral signals, and compares the two methods through experiments. The results of experiments shown that the wavelet filter based on compressed sensing can effectively reduce the signal noise of spectral signal. The de-noising effect of the method is better than that of wavelet filter. The method provides a new approach for reducing the signal noise of spectral signals.
