Abstract

This research aims to describe an imagery of children’s poems collection from Bobo Magazine on January 20th 2015 edition. The research problem is about the types of imagery that contained in six children's poems, namely (1) Selamat Jalan, Cut, (2) Duka Aceh, (3) Aceh (Puisi Buat Anak Bangsa), (4) Ngarai Sianok, (5) Raporku, dan (6) Bencana di NAD. The types of imagery that will be examined in this research include (1) visual imagery, (2) auditory imagery, (3) tactile/thermal imagery, (4) smell imagery, (5) taste imagery, (6) movement imagery/kinaesthetic, and (7) feeling imagery. This research is a qualitative research with non-interactive qualitative method using an analytical approach. The results showed that not all types of imagery were contained in children's poems collection from Bobo Magazine on January 20th 2015 edition. Based on the results, it can be concluded that in one childrens’s poem can have two to five types of imagery.

Abstract

This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research problems are 1. How are the form and meaning of anthropomorphic metaphor image found in the speech of children in Banjar? 2. What politeness principle is violated in the speech hapakan (mockery) of children in Banjar language? The purpose of this research is to describe the form and meaning of anthropomorphic metaphor image found in the speech of hapakan (mockery) of children in Banjar. The benefit of this research is to develop a vision of Banjar Language for education and society in general, especially concerning to the problem of linguistic politeness. The technique used in this paper is the purposive sampling, the sampling technique of data source collection with consideration. The samples collected as data are three expressions that have the form and meaning of anthropomorphic metaphor. Stage of data analysis is data collection, data identification, classification, selection and interpretation. This stage must correspond to the theory. It is also interrelated each other. The results of data analysis are presented in plain words with technical terminology. The results of this study illustrate the forms and meanings of anthropomorphic metaphoric images found in the speech hapakan (mockery) of children in Banjar language including the word muha batimpap "two-faced", talinga rinjingan "to eavesdrop", and mata maling “steal a glance”. There is politeness principle violated in hapakan (mockery) of children language in Banjar.

Abstract

This research is entitled Writing Style of Poetry of the Author of West Kalimantan. This study uses descriptive analysis approach. Meanwhile, the theory used in this study is semiotic theory. The results of the study show that there are semiotic differences in the style of poetry writing by three West Kalimantan writers. Each writer represents their respective times. In creating poetry works they have their own characteristics which are depicted in their poetry work. Munawar Kalahan's style of writing is based on his life in his hometown. Meanwhile, Yudhiswara poetry expresses criticism of social phenomena that exist in society. While Ibnu Hs authorship style is more abstract.

Abstract

Phrasal verb is one of the important components in the process of learning a foreign language. It is one form of vocabulary in the collection of words that make up the phrase where the verb is the word that heads the phrase. Students can not interpret phrasal verb partially but it must be interpreted collectively. The understanding of Politeknik of Tonggak Equator Pontianak sudents toward phrasal verb need to be known considering many literatures and terms used in the teacing and learing process. In doing this research, the method used is descriptive by describing the condition of students through recording their activity and identifies problems in using phrasal verb. Techniques of data collecting are interviews and tests to obtain a description of students understanding of the use of phrasal verb. Filling in the blank form of test is used in order to know the understanding of students toward the use of phrasal verb in sentence, while interviews conducted to match test answers with oral answers. Some students still have difficulty in understanding the phrasal verb. Students are still fixated on sentence patterns and think that phrasal verb is a phrase that can be translated word by word.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research and documentation study that describes the content type of the form and the trend themes raised in Malay song lyrics in West Kalimantan.Data source this study is of Malay songs that add up to 65songs that come from the five major cultural Malay Malay Pontianak, West Kalimantan, namely Sambas, Ketapang, Sanggau Kapuas Hulu, and which have the particularity of the Malay dialect all its own. The results of this study showed there are 20 songs traditional and modern songs with the theme of 45 and its uniqueness of each. Themes reflected in traditional Malay songs are generally themed history, folklore, and traditional relations. However, there was a shift of theme in the modern Malay songs which began to lead the pride of ethnicity, the potential of natural resources, politics, tourism, and social reasons.

Abstract

Indonesian for Nonnative Speakers (BIPA) teaching learning process must be done in a fun way, so that the students feel easier learning Indonesian in a relaxed and natural way. Natural language learning has proven to be more effective for second or foreign language learners, including BIPA students, especially for beginners. The game of guessing words at beginner-level BIPA learners becomes effective for students to remember the vocabulary that is needed or used daily not only to memorize but also to use the vocabulary in everyday conversation.

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe language learning strategies used by a third semester student of English Education Study Program whose competence at English speaking. This research was a qualitative research. The subject of this study was a successful language learner in the third semester. This research was a case study which used interview and document as the instruments of data collecting. In the interview, the researcher asked the participant to answer questions that focused on the metacognitive strategies used by him. The document was provided in order to support the primary data. Based on the result, the third semester student whose competence at English speaking skill used the four representative strategies by O’Malley and Chamot (1990) in his learning process. The first representative strategy used by the student was selective attention. The second was planning. The third was asking for people’s perspective towards self performance, reviewing how the task was going and detecting any error happened on the track. The fourth was evaluation which included keep applying the same activity as the strategy after knowing that the strategy worked and changing the way he performed depending on the other speaker.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the lexeme verb ‘see’ in Sanggau Malay language. The method applied is descriptive in the form of qualitative research. The data in this study are words containing verb meanings ‘see’ in Sanggau Malay language. The source of the data in this study is the Sanggau Malay language spoken by Sanggau Malay speakers. The data collected used images and questionnaires and see proficient involvement. Data collection tools in the form of vocabulary lists, images, note cards, questionnaires, and recording devices. The field of verb meanings in Sanggau Malay consists of 17 lexemes. Of the 17 lexemes, 12 verb lexemes ‘see’ without using tools and 5 verb lexemes ‘see’ using a tool.

Abstract

Greetings opening communication is a manifestation in communication that is very bound by context. The lingual unit style of the opening greeting communication is also bound by certain types of discourse. One of them is the greeting opening communication on the speech of the Governor of West Kalimantan. The purpose of this study is to describe the opening greetings of mass communication contained in the speech discourse of the Governor of West Kalimantan as a pragmatic review. The theory used in this study is about the opening greetings of mass communication by Baryadi (1989). The method used is descriptive method which not only describes existing data, but also analyzes data and summarizes it. Sources of data were obtained from literature studies of the speech of the Governor of West Kalimantan 2015 and 2017. The study data included the opening greetings used in the speech discourse of the Governor of West Kalimantan. The results of the study show six types of lingual units used as communication opening greetings, namely (1) nickname of kinship, (2) name of position, (3) name of profession, (4) name of religious title, (5) name of actor deeds, and (6) other greetings. As well as the opening greetings of interpersonal communication namely phatic phrases and phatic phrases followed by greetings.

Abstract

This study intends to reveal the accusation of the author to the "human values" of the Ex-East Timor issues reflected in the Trilogy Incident book by Seno Gumira Adjidarma. The Incident Trilogy is a combination of three parts consisting of a collection of short stories, novels, and essays published in 2010 by Spread Publisher. The purpose of this research is to reveal the relation between the facts of humanity, the subject collective (social facts), and the world views, as conveyed by Lucien Goldman. The approach used in this research is genetic structuralism approach, which is an approach that departs from the assumption that the structure of literary text is a reflection of people's lives. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The results of this study will reveal the building blocks of literary works, namely: 1) Humanity Facts, 2) Collective Subjects, and 3) World Views.
