Jurnal Cakrawala adalah jurnal (riset) ilmu-ilmu sosial yang terbit dua kali dalam setahun, yaitu pada bulan Juni dan Nopember pada masing-masing volume. Cakrawala menerima artikel ilmiah hasil-hasil penelitian, yang tentu saja harus didasarkan pada hasil penelitian yang mengetengahkan urgensi, manfaat dan tujuan penelitian. Selain itu artikel juga dapat memuat telaah kritis terhadap suatu hasil atau proses penelitian sosial yang sedang aktual. Artikel yang akan dimuat dapat pula mengemukakan hasil perenungan kritis dan menyeluruh menyangkut suatu teori, metode penelitian, ataupun hasil penelitian sosial.

Abstract

Mass media has a big role in forming and changing society’s mind, feeling, attitude, opinion and behavior about women. However, women representation in mass media still shows negative stereotype. The existence of radio stations with female target audience which is aimed to empower women is a new hope for women related with the formation for positive image of women through the programs. Female Radio Semarang became one of the radio with female target audience who helped take the role in the formation of positive image of women through a program called Tupperware She Can! on Radio. All of their efforts are absolutely not separated from Female Radio Semarang ideology as a mass media based on gender perspective. This research will analyze how the discourse strategies that apply in the Tupperware She Can! on Radio in representing women. The type and the approaches of this research is a qualitative-descriptive methods with critical discourse analysis method which developed by Sara Mills, which is also often referred to as critical discourse analysis with ‘feminist’ perspective. By analyzing the transcript of the Tupperware She Can! on Radio, using Sara Mills theory on the subject-object position and the listener’s position, this study aims to describe the discourse strategies that apply in the Tupperware She Can! on Radio in representing women.The result of this thesis research shows that Female Radio Semarang through its program Tupperware She Can! on Radio has been trying to represent women positively. In the course Tupperware She Can! on Radio, women are not only positioned as the object but also given a lot opportunity to become the subject of conversation. As a result, the women representation that formed in the program showed a positive image. In the lead of role in the public sector (productive or social), women appear as a figure no less with men, yet in the domestic sector women still perform her responsibilities for carrying out her role as mother and wife as well. Abstract

Human are creatures of language, they use language as communication and allways use language, language can get idea, and wish in tho say the opinion and information. Human being as a society have communication and doing interaction use language, so language is a communication. Human have a lot of for communication, one of them is internet, internet like facebook. As human society, human want to do sociality and communication with them.  In communication process a people who have interaction in it must to want say a massage in order to the message can be understood by other people. Language is sign sound that is agreement to used by the member of society in corporation communication and identification.This study aims to describe the language style status updates on facebook and meaning of language status updates on facebook. This study will use qualitative research methods. The unit of observation to be examined is in facebook. The unit of analysis is to analyze the elements of communication such as words, paragraphs, themes and events that are coded to be performed generalization. This study will observe the update status of the motor in the Salatiga Mio. Quest for the meaning of the data analysis will be done by performing data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification.The results showed that this language update status facebook happened because there is no convention which role the way to write update status. Beside that, the factor like creativity, trend and the individu writer types. Abstract

The song is an expression of the writer to the listener, based on exprerience, gained either from oneself, others as well as the environment. A song contains lyrics that use language to convey the intention or purpose of the writer to the listener. Slank is a rock and roll music group in Indonesia. Slank is more familiar with the anti-corruption movement or part of social criticism. One of its songs entitled “Gosip Jalanan” gets a lot of response from various parties. Members of the Parliament consider the lyrics to be an insult to their perfomance as the people’s representatives, so through their Honorary Council, they were about to take a legal action against Slank. However the general public supported the music group  as they considered songs created by Slank depicted reality.This study employed a semiotic analysis method aimed at exlpaining the meaning of each sign found in the lyrics from the writer’s as well as the listeners’ point of view in relation to their respective socio-cultural backgrounds.The results of this study revealed that “Gosip Jalanan” lyrics served as an expression of Slank music group’s contemplation based on the members’ personal experience and observation of variety of social realities amidst the society. Corruption and different forms of power abuse currently prevailing in Indonesia the group judged as having been done on a massive and systematic scale, by which Slank referred to as the “mafia”. Money became the source of power misused by the mafia to such extent that they were able to overrun the existing law and regulations. Meanwhile the people listening to the lyrics responded differently. Some were in agreement but others in disagreement about the meaning conveyed by the lyrics. The former judged the lyrics to be in accordance with reality the song attempted to depict, whereas the latter considered that the song did not depict reality, as it was only partial and not universal in nature.  Key Words: Music, Lyrics, Sign and Meanings, Semiotics

Abstract

Life with media seems become a routine in life. Humans continue to rely on the media to find information, entertain themselves, even getting an education. Therefore, the role of media now required to be more intelligent, trustworthy or accountable truth of the information, but can also entertain the audience. One of the most famous media is television. Since its appearance in the nation on August 24, 1964, television in Indonesia continues to grow rapidly. Options television stations also show more varied, making viewers can eventually select the program it deems suitable to its needs. Based on data, the researchers found a Kick Andy often gets a variety of awards, appreciation or positive response from the public.Researcher try to examined the motive of viewer and the level of satisfaction of this show by use students of the Faculty of Social Science and Communications from the Christian University Satya Wacana as the study population. While the sample is a student of 2008 to 2010. By using purposive random sampling technique, researchers assume the data to be obtained would be more accurate and reliable. The data obtained will be processed quantitatively through the deployment questionnaire and interview process. The result will be discussed in deskripstif-explanative.The results of this study, from 67 respondens, researchers examined as a whole and also divided according to the level of media use. In the overall and active audience, the results showed the existence of gaps in the form of dissatisfaction. Abstract

The rapidly communication technology development within the society correlates with the presence of change in a variety of life aspects including the computer-based interaction process having certain consequence. Internet technology serves as the social network media in cyberspace or virtual reality. Virtual reality apparently transforms the sociology subject matter from the real society into virtual society. The sociological studies shift from the conventional analysis units such as individual, household, community, and group to “mobile hybrid” side of virtual reality unit. Abstract

French structuralism pioneered by Saussure. The term structure is always pointing to the understanding of language as a system. By the school of Prague (Jacobson and Trubetzkoy) term structure refers to the understanding of the structure of a system Saussurean structural linguistic methods would also schools of Prague is then influenced Levi-Strauss. Levi-Strauss develop the linguistic methods and apply them in social anthropology, so the approach is called structuralism ethnological or anthropological structural. In this approach, (1) Relation decisive difference. Culture is seen as grammar, and task analysis of the cultural phenomenon is no longer understand the symptoms of the particular separate / distinct, but found "hidden code grammatical" that makes every symptom particular it has a meaning in relationship-difference with symptoms particular as the whole system marker. (2) The emphasis on synchronous approach. Following the view Saussure that the meaning of a term defined by his relations at a given point in time, which is synchronous with other terms, Levi-Strauss argued relations a cultural phenomenon with phenomena other at certain point of time is what determine the meaning of the phenomenon. So relations sinkronislah decisive, not the diachronic. The identity of a person / group of people seemed to only be identified through distinction from the other. Always understood identity is relational. Humans know himself in meetings and interactions with the world and other people. Abstract

Laras Asri Resort & Spa is a service company in the shape of a 4 star hotel with a resort concept in Salatiga. In competing with other competitors, certainly the hotel management needs to make a communication strategy to sell his services. The strong competition in the climate of Salatiga hotels there are 15 total needed for effective marketing communications strategy in order to achieve the objectives of the Laras Asri Resort & Spa, that is to be the leading luxury hotel and most comfortable in Central Java, with the main products i.e. either rooms or dwelling.During a period of 3 years of the implementation of the integrated marketing communications program, there is a missmatch in the number of consumer acquisition Number of guest and Total guest in outlets, where the gains that have been achieved does not fulfill the purpose of the hotel. It is therefore through a study entitled "EVALUATION OF THE INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM LARAS ASRI RESORT & SPA THE PERIOD 2010-2012", researchers want to find out what factors caused the difference number of consumer acquisition.This research uses qualitative evaluation methods, where researchers will eventually describe the integrated marketing communications program which are then evaluated using methods CIPP Stufflebeam.The conclusions of this study, it was found that the integrated marketing communications program, which was done through a form of Direct marketing, Personal seling, and Advertising have not been able to fulfill the purpose of the Laras Asri Resort & Spa which is put forward their primary products. Abstract

Food security is the nation's wealth and richness of farmers in the past, that now are decrease even disappear- replaced with production patterns and food-paced consumtive patterns, as a result of the introduction from the interests of neo-liberazation globalization farm that seems to be very "spoil/comforting", but behind that it was slowly "kill" cultural sectors, sovereignty even safety of a generation. This study aims to take a picture the condition of food insecurity that occurs in one forest villages, which is in the Lembu Village, Bancak District, and Semarang Region. The analysis used method of HFIAS (Household Food Insecurity Access Scale), whereas research process used survey method. The results showed that (1) The Village Community in general still have problems or lack of foods. Meanwhile, the enough foods amount is relatively few (and did not reach 30% of the total, which is only 22.2%). (2) Category enough food in this region can be easily slip over to the position of lack of foods rather than safe food, because in the dry season, food insecurity become a common phenomenon. Abstract

Amid the onslaught of foreign cultures, especially ready meals “fast food” causing further marginalization of the local culture. Building a community attitude to retaining local knowledge possessed, especially traditional food knows matching requires a very strong foundation on which the social capital. With the key issues above, this study aims to answer the main problem, that is explained about the role of social capital in the business Tahu Serasi in Kenteng, district Bandungan. This research used a qualitative approach and descriptive research method. The unit of observation is a businessman tahu serasi, marketeer tahu serasi, KUB, buyers and customers. The unit of analysis is the role of social capital in the business tahu serasi in the district Bandungan. Results of research on business know matching is the dimension of cooperation and trust. In the context of the social capital that the real economic transactions do not always think about the profitability and profit, but also to build a cooperative relationship. In the capital transformation, business activity know “tahu serasi” transformation of social capital into economic capital. Abstract

Children who tend to pick and choose friends even discriminate based on race, social level, or religion because there is discomfort felt by the difference. All that can arise due to the effects of the influence of parenting parents in educating , even overly restrictive attitude of parents their children so that the children difficult to associate with the outside world . In this study focused on how the parents of this form of interfaith couples and families build social capital such as trust, norms and networks, then applied to the child as a provision in the child to relate socially. This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Sources of data obtained interviews with informants or sources of interfaith couples, children of interfaith couples and their peers relations of children of interfaith couples. Data collection using secondary data in the form of complementary data related documents and regulations related to the problem under study. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data display, and data verification. Social capital is the result of negotiations that formed the differences, one of which is the difference of religion. The results of these negotiations are formed in feeling comfortable with each other, love each other, love each other, expectations, take risks to achieve common goals, and tolerance. Religious differences in a family that is not a problem, but the difference was actually accepted as a reality of life to be thankful for, and helped shape the attitudes and behavior of children in the neighborhood association, which become more tolerant of differences, attitudes budge to reduce conflicts at the same time not obtrude one another , trusting and trustworthy.. Keywords : social capital , trust , norms , networks , family , social relationships of children.
