Abstract

Though values are fundamental aspects in education, the preliminary study shows the phenomena of ignorance of the values especially in inclusive schools. The insertion of values that support the implementation of inclusive education is much more necessary. The study aims at depicting the implementation of the main values in the development of inclusive education program at SDN Purtaco Indah Kota Bandung, as the research focus. The research used qualitative approach with descriptive analytic case study method, grounded theory, hermeneutical social, and thematic study of Al-Quran Al-Qarafi. The data were obtained through observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentary study. The results show that: 1)The foundation of the implementation of inclusive education consists of religious foundations, psychological foundations, and pedagogical foundations of ta`āwun value as a core value in inclusive education; 2) The value of ta`āwun is hierarchically elaborated into basic values, instrumental values, and practical values; 3) The implementation of the ta`āwun value, as the main value of inclusive education, includes: (a) Implementation of ta`āwun value development among teachers, teachers and parents, parents with students (ordinary and those with special need), and fellow students (ordinary and with special need); 4) The advantages of the ta`āwun value development program are: (a) Facilitating the acceptance of the students with speacial need at inclusion schools, (b) the parents become more optimistic, (c) The parents of those with special need are happy because their children can learn inclusively with normal children, (d) The majority of parents of the students with special need are able to mingle regardless of their economic background. As for the shortcomings, namely (a) The knowledge aspect for the regular students is relatively hampered because the teachers have to share the attention with the needing students who have limitations in the cognitive aspect, (b) It is very difficult to convince the parents of regular students to receive the needing students as their children’s classmates.

Abstract

This study aims at developing a valid discovery-learning text book for the Islamic Education (PAI) and Character subject delivered at the fifth grade of Primary School based on the results of the accuracy analysis of the existing student books. This is a Research and Development (R and D) applying the 4-D model proposed by Semmel and Thiagarajan, that is, defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Data collection techniques used (1) instrument assessment with the format of student book analysis to measure the level of accuracy of the existing textbooks, (2) interviews and observations, conducted to the PAI teachers, and (3) validation sheets. Moreover, the technique of data analysis used inter rater analysis technique, known as the technique of intra class correlation coefficient analysis (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient-ICC). As the result, in terms of level of accuracy, the existing textbooks of Character and Islamic Education at the fifth grade of elementary school is still low. In general, the teachers claim that the existing text books are able to meet some of the basic competencies and indicators. However, the text books need to be refined and clarified the student learning activities, making it more simple for students to learn. On the other hand, the product of discovery learning textbooks on the subjects of Character and Islamic Education  at the fifth grade of elementary school are declared valid. This product is refined based on input, making it feasible for the students at the fifth grade of Primary School in learning Character and Islamic Education.

Abstract

Due to the limited sources of Vocabulary teaching materials, the researcher was eager to design a model of vocabulary materials assumed needed by te students for their daily conversation. The design was a Research and Development applying descriptive procedure of three model suggested by Borg and Gall (1983) who propose three ways of developing a model of teaching material, namely: procedural, conceptual, theoretical.” Then, he followed the research procedure by Sugiyono (2007: 298) suggesting ten steps of a research and development: (1) identifying research problem, (2) collecting information, (3) designing the product, (4) validating the design, (5) revising the design, (6) testing the product , (7) revising the product, (8) applying the design, (9) re-revising the product , and (10) publishing the prooduct. In validating the model, he asked some comments from experts. Because of limited time and other reasons of doing the research, he just applied the step 1 up to 4. Based on the validation result, it could be concluded that the model had fulfilled the criteria both content and construct validity.
