Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop the psychomotor assessment instruments on experiment of factors that influence the rate of reaction which is feasible to be used. The development model used in this research was the modification model of 4P development into 3P which is recommended by Thiagarajan that is defining, designing and developing. Data collection techniques used were structured observation and questionnaire. The research instruments used were observation sheet and questionnaire. Initial field trials conducted on six students of class XII IPA 1, involving four observers while the main field trial conducted on 36 students of class XI IPA 1. The researcher involved four observers and one chemistry teacher. The feasibility of the developed psychomotor aspects assessment instrument is based on validity and practical aspects. The results obtained in this study were: (1) the average value of the validity of the psychomotor aspects assessment instrument was 1.00 with very high criteria and (2) the practicality of the psychomotor aspects assessment instrument based on the observers response of 94.44 with very high criteria and teachers response 90.27 with very high criteria. Based on the validity and practicality of the psychomotor aspect appraisal instrument the factors affecting the reaction rate are feasible to use

Abstract

The research was based on low learning outcome of XI IPA class student of SMAN 1 Sungai Raya in chemistry especially sub material of hybridization theory. This research aimed to determine difference in learning outcome between student taught by using index card match learning strategies with students taught without using index card match learning in the sub material of hybridization theory class XI IPA of SMAN 1 Sungai Raya. This research used Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design with the research subject was 29 control class students and 28 experiment class student XI IPA class SMAN 1 Sungai Raya. Techniques and data collection tools used learning result test, observation, and interview. The result of data analysis showed that the average value of pretest control class was 38,45 and the average value of posttest class was 52,60 while the average value of pretest experiment class was 21,25 and posttest average value is 75,13. Statistic analysis result U Mann-Whitney test showed the significance value of 0,000 that was smaller than α (0,000 < 0,05) which mean that there are differences in student learning outcome taught by using index card match learning strategy. The amount of increase in learning outcome was known from the calculations effect size value as big as 0,94 in high category as big as 82,64%. Therefore, index card match learning strategy can be applied to sub material hybridization theory to improve student learning outcome

Abstract

The Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM) of eleventh grade students of  SMA Negeri 1 Pemangkat on chemistry subject was still under 75, especially on the material about  hydrocarbon  compounds  and  petroleum  with  a  percentage  of  70.53.  Thus,  by using  an  appropriate  learning  models  could  improve  students’  achievement.  The purpose of this research was to know whether there was a difference and the influence of the  PBL learning model against student  learning  outcomes.  This  was  a  Quasi Experimental  Research  with  Non-equivalent  Control  Group  Design.  Sample  selected by using purposive sampling, they were XI MIA-3 students as the class experiment and XI  MIA-2  as  class  control.  The  techniques  of  data  collection  were  measurement, observation, and direct communication technique. The tools of data collection were test results learning, observation sheets, and interview guidelines. Based on data analysis using  non-parametric  test  of  U-Mann  Whitney  showed  that  there  was  differences  of learning  result,  that  was  0,000  <0,05.  This  showed  that  students  learning  outcomes was  different  between  different  experimental  class  with  control  class.  The  effect  size obtained by the student learning result was 1.19 which is included in the high criterion. Keywords:  Learning  outcomes, Problem  Based  Learning (PBL),  hydrocarbon compounds

Abstract

This study is motivated by the student low readiness and learning mastery in Chemistry class. It is aimed at investigating the student readiness in oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction class. This study used a descriptive case study. As many as 27 students of MAN II Filial Pontianak of Academic Year 2017/2018, selected by purposive sampling technique, participated in this study. The data collection tools were observation, questionnaire, and interview. The average result of this study indicated that student readiness in learning was good (61,97%), especially in physical category by 100% (outstanding), in mental category by 33,33% (fair), in emotional category by 95,06% (outstanding), in necessity category by 62,96 (good ), and in mastery category by 18,52% (poor). Additionally, the result of the questionnaire showed that readiness in learning was 75,86% (very good), particularly in physical category by 81,48% (Excellent), in mental category by 71,60% (very good), in emotional category by 71,24% (very good), in necessity category by 71,29 (very good ), and in mastery category by 77,16% (very good). Therefore, teachers are expected to educate the students about the importance of reading in learning. Also, school is encouraged to enhance the quality of the facilities in learning

Abstract

An observation was conducted to the X MIPA students of SMA Negeri 3 Sintang indicated the low learning independence in Chemistry class. This study aimed to investigate the student learning independence and its factors in Chemistry class at SMA Negeri 3 Sintang. This study used the descriptive method of observation case design. The data were collected using direct observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects were 68 students of the X MIPA. The instruments were interview and observation sheets. Before analyzing the data, it was conducted two times observation and interview. The study revealed that the students’ learning independence was significantly increased. It could be seen from their discipline, responsibility, initiation, and motivation. Based on the internal factor for discipline aspect was excellent (90,81%) while the motivation aspect was good (72,07%). The responsibility (44,73%) and initiation (42,81%) aspects were considered satisfactory, however the self-confidence required more improvement (7,2%). In addition, the results of the interview showed that the external factors played a major role in students’ learning independence. The school environment aspect were considered satisfactory (44,60%) while the family environment (66,66%), learning facilities (69,69%), and teacher competence (71,80%) was good category. In conclusion, the students learning independence of the X MIPA student of SMA Negeri 3 Sintang based on the fifth aspect of the internal factors were satisfactory (51,52%), and the external factors were good (63,18%).

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the influence of macromedia flash to student learning achievement at SMA Muhammadiyah I Ketapang. The use of this learning media aimed to facilitate teachers in conveying learning material so that students are effectively able to achieve the learning goals. The population of this study were 20 students of the eleventh grade of Natural Sciences class of SMA Muhammadiyah I Ketapang . The sample was Natural Science class students consisted of 10 students as the experimental class and 10 students as the control class. Using a quasi-experimental, this study used test questions of reaction rate material as the instruments. The study revealed a significant difference between experimental class taught using macromedia flash and control class without the media. This was shown by the results of the data analysis of the t-test obtained by the t-value of 2.682 greater than the 5% table value of 2.100. Further, the experimental class taught by using flash macromedia showed an average value of 81.11, and the control class showed an average value of 63.33. In conclusion, flash media was effective in improving student learning outcomes, by the score difference of 17.78.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in chemistry subjects, especially the material of acid and base solutions. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of comics as a learning medium for acid and alkaline solution material as well as student learning outcomes before and after using comics as a learning medium in class XI SMK Negeri 7 Pontianak. The method in this study is an experiment with the form of pre-experimental research. Data collectors used measurement techniques and data collection tools namely pretest-posttest questions. Data analysis used statistical analysis techniques. Based on the results of the study it was found that there were significant differences in student learning outcomes between before and after using comics as a learning medium for material of acid and base solutions in class XI SMK Negeri 7 Pontianak. This difference is obtained from the comparison of the average pretest and posttest results of students is 25,793 and 82,379. This means that the posttest results are greater than the results of the pretest. Based on statistical analysis with ttest, it is known that the results of the comparison of the results of the pretest is greater than the ttable, which is 16.090 > 2.048 which indicates that Ho rejected and Ha accepted. The comparison value of tcount the posttest result is greater than ttable that is 59.668 > 2.048 indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. If Ho is rejected Ha accepted means there is a significant difference between the results of the posttest and the results of the students pretest. So it can be concluded that comics can be used as a learning medium in improving the learning outcomes of chemistry in material of acid and base solutions in class XI SMK Negeri 7 Pontianak.

Abstract

 The students’ average score on Chemistry subject has still low. This has caused not only by the level of the difficulty but also the low of the students’ self-efficacy and motivation.  This  study  aimed  at  finding  out  the  students’  self-efficacy, motivation,  and the  correlation  of  self-efficacy  and  achievement  motivation  among  the  ninth  grade Science  class  students  of  SMA  Negeri  3  Pontianak.  Using  descriptive  correlational design,  as  many  as  66  students  of  the  ninth  grade  Science  class  participated  in  this study. The self-efficacy measurement was conducted by using self-efficacy scale which was adopted from the Bandura scale  with a reliability coefficient of 0.86, whereas, the achievement  motivation  measurement  conducted  by  using  achievement  motivation scale  based  on  The  Mehrabian  Achieving  Tendency  from  Mehrabian  1993  with  a consistency  internal  reliability  of  0.92.  The  study  reveals  that  53,03%  of  students obtained    medium    self-efficacy,  and  60,61%  of  students  students  had  average achievement  motivation.  The  Pearson  Product  Moment  correlation  test  indicated  that there was a positive and significant correlation between self-efficacy and achievement motivation by 0,278 which was considered into low category with  sig value (2-tailed) of 0.024. Keywords: Chemistry, Correlation, Achievement Motivation, Self-efficacy

Abstract

 This  study  is  motivated  by  the  low  learning  outcomes  in  the  Sub-covalent  Bond class of tenth-grade students, SMA Islam Haruniyah Pontianak. This problem is due to the  lack  of  students  understanding  of  the  concept  of  Covalent  Bonds.  Therefore,  a proper learning model is required to improve students’ understanding of Covalent Bond concepts  based  on  the  characteristics  of  both  learning  materials    and  students.  This study  aimed  to  investigate  the  differences  in  the  student  learning  outcomes  and  the effectiveness of the question card-based on TGT learning in the Sub-covalent Bonding material. Using the pre-experimental method of one-group pretest-posttest design, the tenth-grade  students  of  Math  and  Science  Class  of  SMS  Islam  Haruniyah  Pontianak participated in this study. The data collection tools used were learning outcomes tests, observation sheets, and interview sheets. The results of data analysis revealed that the average  pretest  score  was  36  and  the  posttest  was  62.94.  In  addition,  the  t-test statistical  analysis  indicated  a  significance  value  of  0.00  (0.00  <0.05)  which  meanth that there were differences in student learning outcomes between before and after the question  card-based  TGT  learning  model  implemented.  The  gain  value  was  0.42.  In other words, the  question card-based on TGT learning model is effective in improving the student  learning outcomes with good category. Keywords: Covalent Bond, Question Card, Team Games Tournament (TGT)

Abstract

The out come of student’s learning achievement are low. Due to there are many student’s did not achieve the minimum competency in Chemical bonding subject because most student’s are not able to understand the problem. This study aimed to find out the difficulties and the factors that cause learning difficulties of students at chemical bonding’s subject in class X-B SMA Negeri 1 Siantan, Mempawah District. This research was a descriptive study with qualitative approach case study, the population of class X with a sample of 35 people in class X-B. Data collection technique used indirect communication techniques (questionnaire), direct communication (interview), post-test and documentation, while the data collection toolused the pre-test, questionnaire sheet and the interview’s result. The result showed that students have learning difficulties in determining the ionic bonds’ topic which amountof 62.85%, 55.71% in covalent bonds’ topic and coordinate covalent bonds’ topic which of 85.71%. Internal factors that affect students learning difficulties was aspects of motivation with effort indicators to learn chemical bonding and attention of students towards learning the materials of Chemical bonding with the percentage of influence each by 58.18%, while external factors that affected learning difficulties of Chemical bonding subject were the teaching methods of the teacher with a percentage of 60.00%. The conclusions showed that there were difficulties of student’s learning in chemical bonding material and there were external either internal factors influence the students’ ability learning.
