Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of discovery learning model with contextual teaching learning (ctl) approach to written skill argumentation students of karangpandan senior high school.. The research was considered as quasi experiment research using Pretest-Posttest Non-equivalent Control Group design. Sampling technique using cluster sampling. The study population is all students of class XI MIA SMA N Karangpandan Academic Year 2017/2019 consisting of six classes. Sample of class consists oftwo classes, eksperiment class with discovery learning model with contextual teaching learning (ctl) approach and control class with discovery learning. Data collection techniques use essays test, observations, and documentation. The normality test with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and homogeneity with Levene test. Hypothesis test used is Paired Sample t test with 5% (α= 0.05) significance level assisted with SPSS 21. The research procedure includes planning, implementation and data analysis. The conclusion of this research show that  the application of discovery learning model with contextual teaching learning (ctl) approach has given effect towards student’s argumentation skill

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the impact of the application of CCTT learning model on learning activities and biology learning outcomes of students Class X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Merlung. This study was descriptive research, the subjects were the 25 of class X IPA 2 school year 2017/2018. Research data were collected through observation, documentation and test. The Data were analyzed qualitatively through reduction and display of data, and make conclusions. The results showed that the application of CCTT learning model has a good impact on learning activities and biology learning outcomes. High learning activities have been seen from the achievement of indicators of 89,8%, with average of 22,4 students have been involved in every aspect of learning activities. Percentage of mastery of learning outcomes amounted 84% (21 students), the average learning outcomes was 73,3 with the highest score was 90 and the lowest score was 50. The results confirmed that CCTT learning

Abstract

Ethnobotany is study about relationship between humans and plants. Ethnobotany explain how plants are used by humans for their needs. The development of science and technology about ethnobotany is developing. Nowadays, ethnobotany is study of study of human relationships with natural resources and the environment. Ethnopharmacology is pharmaceutical science that study about how to make medicines from natural ingredients. Traditional medicine has been used from generation to generations. Economic crisis in indonesia causes the price of the medicine is expensive. The high cost of chemical medicine due to chemicals need to be imported from abroad. Such conditions encourage Indonesian people to utilize plants as a traditional medicine. To support the environment remains sustainable and keep the medicinal plants remain, it is necessary to develop the activities of medicinal plants cultivation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT One of the goals of 21st century education is  forming creative students. Based on a survey of Global Creativity Index in 2015, creative thinking level of Indonesian students is low, which is ranked 86th out of 93 countries. Project Based Learning (PjBL) is learning model that is proven to be able to improve students creative thinking skills but often requires a long duration. KWL Chart function is controling the learning process to be systematic and effective because the tasks performed by students become focus so that it can cover the shortcomings of PjBL. The distribution of values in the PjBL class with the KWL chart (experiment 1) and the PjBL class only (experiment 2) are more diffuse than the control class, it can be seen that the pretest as a covariate has less significance than the significance level of 0.05 which is equal to 0,000. It is stated that the pretest value and the posttest value are linear. There are other aspects outside of research that influence students creative thinking skills. The obtained Squared R value is 0.560, it means that the difference in model and media integration given in the control class, experiment 1, and experiment 2 only affects 56% of students creative thinking skills. Other factors outside of research that affect students creative thinking skills are as much as 44%, even though the time needed for the experiment 1 class is shorter than the experimental class 2.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the profile of critical thinking skills of a private high school students in Sragen on reproduction system material. This study used survey method. The population in this study is all students of XI MIPA class. The sampling used purposive random sampling with the total sample of 24 students. The instrument used in form of a written tests refers to the indicators of critical thinking which developed by Ennis. The indicators of critical thinking skills measured are : (1) Elementary clarification; (2) Basic support; (3) Inference; (4) Advanced clarification; and 5) Strategies and tactics. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics. The results showed that in general, the average critical thinking skills of one of the private high school students in Sragen is in the high category.

Abstract

Indonesia Maritime Culture, as the first pillar in the concept of maritime axis, is being pursued to be realized by the Government of Indonesia through the maritime curriculum in schools. In fact, Indonesia is experiencing delays in the implementation of marine education (maritime education) compared to countries that have other long shorelines, such as Canada, Japan and the UK. Knowledge of the sea becomes a starting point in marine education (learning and teaching of ocean and aquatic science). This knowledge of the sea is universally agreed upon as ocean literacy, which can be nurtured in marine education. Very little publication of the results of thought and research on Indonesian ocean literacy in national journals, and none in international journals is evidence of Indonesia has not been serious in marine education. In the next maritime curriculum, all subjects required can be integrated with the ocean science. While the subjects closest to ocean science are science learning, especially biology, then geography, physics, and chemistry. Research trends in science learning and teaching in the future should also be oriented to ocean literacy. In addition, socio-scientific issues are also found in marine and coastal life, so student must master of ocean literacy is absolutely done. The study in this article suggests using a system-based approach in teaching science based on ocean literacy. While systemic thinking is the ability to understand and interpret complex systems, and consists of different types and levels of thinking skills. The next suggestion is the application of teaching methods that facilitate systemic thinking skills. Three main suggestions are also given to the marine education community. While the instructional tool that can be adopted to implement marine education is the Ocean Literacy Scope and Squence for Grades K-12. Thus, it is expected that the Indonesian people will be ocean literate.

Abstract

Ferns play an important role for humans and forest ecosystem. To know the diversity of ferns especially terrestrial ferns in Forest Area with Special Purpose (KHDTK) Kaliurang Yogyakarta, this research was conducted using entercept method in three study areas i.e. A with 876 m asl, B (899 m asl) and C (925 m asl). There were 20 stands for every study area and for each stand, the frequency frame equipment was placed 10 times with a total of 2000 times placing the equipment. This study found a total of 15 ferns from 7 family (Thelypteridacea, Sellaginellaceae, Polypodiaceae, Pteridaceae, Dryopteridacea, Marcileaceae dan Athyriaceae). In general, Parathelypteris japonica (Back.) Ching. from Thelypteridaceae family was the most dominant fern in KHDTK Kaliurang especially in A and B study area. The highest Important Value Index (INP) for the three study area was Parathelypteris japonica (68,76% ) while the lowest INP was Nephrolepis bisserata (Sw.) Schott (0,60%). The diversity index (H’) for KHDTK Kaliurang was low (0.15-0.27).

Abstract

Plant structure is one of the subjects in biology education program at Jambi University. Based on documentation of plant structure course value, in semester 2015/2016 is known that 64.47% of students have not achieved good grades. One material that is quite difficult is stem material, it is known that the number of foreign terms in the text book makes students feel difficult. One of the learning media that can be used is e-book, e-book contains electronic information in the form of text, images and audio packaged. This research aims to develop an ebook based android smartphone as biology learning media, also to determine the feasibility and response of students and lecturers to developed e-book. This study uses the ADDIE model with qualitative and quantitative data. In the validation step by media experts, the final percentage was 100%, the validation by the product experts gained a percentage of 89%. Furthermore, the product was tested on students consisting of 8 small groups and 24 large groups. The response of students in the small group trial got a percentage score of 89% with the criteria of "Very Good" while the large group received a percentage of 83.14% "Very Good". In the experiments conducted by lecturers, the course on plant structure obtained a percentage of 89% "Very Good". Thus it can be said that the media get a positive response and can be accepted in the learning process. Based on the research that has been done it is suggested that the media can be used when learning takes place or as an independent learning material for students so that it is easier to understand the material and can be used as a complementary learning material for lecturers on plant structure courses.

Abstract

Research development is done by quantitative approach that aims to: (1) Generate tools for the assessment of critical thinking ability; (2) Describe the quality of instruments developed to measure critical thinking skills. The study population is the XIP MIPA class of fourteen SMAN in Kendal District. The sample of the research was determined using purposive sampling technique which represented the school with high, medium, and low ranking criteria. Trial conducted on 201 learners. The test instrument was developed with a reasonable multiple choice form. Four categories of scores on each item correspond to the scoring of the PCM (Partial Credit Model) politomus model. Research data were analyzed using the help of EXCEL application, SPSS 16, QUEST and PARSCALE. The results showed that: (1) The critical thinking test instrument fulfilled the validity of the content of the expert judgment; (2) The test instrument with four categories of fit scores on the PCM model; (3) The test instrument has a high reliability value; (4) The test instrument has good difficulty level criteria; (5) Test instruments can be used to estimate critical thinking skills.
