Abstract

Philosophers from different epochs; from Socrates to Buddha, all were more than willing to advise others on how to live a happy life. The desires that people do not necessarily require to become happy or maintain the state of happiness for considerable period are myriad. The reason for this can be seen in Aristotle’s view that the goal of the human action and thought is to be happy. Humans engage in a range of activities that make them feel happy and try to shun those that neither bring happiness nor make them feel appreciated. The thrust of this paper is to see if there are limitations to happiness? And what connection does religion has with the concept of happiness.

Abstract

The recruitment and placement system for teaching staff is one of the most important elements in improving the quality of education. Educators are members of the community who are devoted and appointed to support the implementation of education. Includes education unit managers, overseers, study tutors, supervisors, researchers, developers, librarians, laboratory assistants and learning resource technicians. One of the problems that often occur in the recruitment and placement of teaching staff is that the planning of recruitment is less mature so that there is often a failure in achieving school goals because a lot of work that should be done by some people must be done alone. Based on this problem, research was carried out recruitment and selection systems, placement of educators at the Darul Hikmah Islamic Middle School in Makassar. Using pure qualitative research methods. The data collection techniques, through observation and interviews. Data analysis methods are used triangulation so that data becomes more accurate. Recruitment of educators at Darul Hikmah Makassar Islamic Middle School is based on preparation and planning. The system used sequentially starts from the dissemination of information about job vacancies for the recruitment of teachers, acceptance of application files, and file selection. Furthermore, the placement of employees who are declared as graduated is based on their respective competencies and skills with an open, free, objective principle without discrimination. Placement in a position that is in accordance with the expertise, skills, talents, and abilities, while remaining in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations.

Abstract

The provision of Article 3 of the Indonesian Act 20, 2003 on the National Education System, has formulated that the National Education function to develop the ability and form the character and civilization of dignified nation in order to educate the life of the nation. One of the educational institutions that take a role in supporting the achievement of National Education goals and build the character of the nation is The Islamic Boarding School. The research aims to see how the model of character education in The Islamic Boarding School as an educational institution that has a role in the development of character education. The sampling research was conducted at The Islamic Boarding School of Mahad Hadis Biru, the District of Bone,  South Sulawesi, Indonesia, through pedagogical and psychological as well as a sociological approach by applying Appreciative Inquiry method by digging information about the activities performed in The Islamic Boarding School associated with character education. The results of the research show that The Islamic Boarding School has a big role in developing character education as a cultural center through the approach of school culture development (school culture). Character Education at The Islamic Boarding School is able to develop character education model because The Islamic Boarding School is able to integrate traditional and modern learning as well as the educational value derived from religious values, the national principle of Pancasila, the local culture, and the purpose of education. This is in line with the Nation Character Education Implementation Guidance that Values developed in cultural education and national character are identified from the Religion, the national principle of Pancasila, Culture, and National Education Goals in Indonesia.

Social safety nets (SSNt) is a form of government involvement in providing assistance to need a life of the poor and vulnerable for increasing the quality of life people. Abstract

Bissu is a trail of pre-Islamic Bugis tribal culture that still survives until now, which serves as the guardian of heritage objects arajang. Bissu are not transvestites or calabai, but people who are immune to sharp weapons, who are also able to communicate with the Gods by using to Rilangi. The method used in this study is a qualitative method that starts with observation, location determination, sample determination, interviews, data processing and writing of research results. The results of research on rituals bissu in Segeri, Pangkep Regency, illustrate that the local government continues to support the existence of bissu as the leader of the ritual mappalili that is conducted every year before going down the fields which end with the dance ritual maggiri as the culmination of its existence as a preserver of regional culture as well as culture archipelago.
