Abstract

A good understanding of the concept of science that is being studied will deliver students to a higher cognitive level. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on understanding the concept of students in a science that is being studied. The research method will be carried out using a quantitative descriptive method with research subjects of third-level students in the subject of Mathematical Statistics I, Mathematics Education Study Program Suryakancana University Academic Year 2016-2017. Data collection techniques are carried out using a test instrument. Results in this study 1) In general, students have good mathematical understanding skills in Mathematical Statistics I. Course 2) Most students still have difficulty in solving problems related to the prerequisite material, in this case about infinite geometry series, the use of properties logarithmic properties, and integration techniques or differentiation. 3) The most common mistake that occurs in the settlement made by students is algebraic operations. It is expected that after this research there will be improvements, both in the form of curriculum improvement, teaching methods, or teaching materials

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji apakah dengan pendekatan saintifik kemampuan akhir kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa lebih baik dari pada kemampuan awal kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa, serta untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Populasi yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs. Islamiyah Sayang Cianjur tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Sedangkan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak satu kelas yaitu kelas VIIIA dan dipilih berdasarkan sampling purposive atau pengambilan sampel dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Kelas sampel diberikan perlakuan dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik kemampuan akhir kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa lebih baik dari pada kemampuan awal kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa, serta hasil angket skala sikap menghasilkan pada umumnya sikap siswa terhadap pendekatan saintifik adalah positif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan keprihatinan peneliti terhadap rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMA. Peneliti memberikan solusi model Brain Based Learning (BBL). Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan selama 2 siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 4 MAN 2 Cianjur dengan jumlah 32 siswa. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Limit Fungsi Aljabar dan Turunan Fungsi Aljabar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika mengalami peningkatan. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa, dan hasil perhitungan Daya Serap Klasikal (DSK) siswa. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan model Brain Based Learning pada umumnya memberikan respon positif. Aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan model Brain Based Learning berjalan aktif. Berdasarkan penjelasan di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Brain Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMA dalam mata pelajaran matematika.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low ability of students in mathematical problem solving and not appropriate teaching materials yet to increase that skill. The first purpose is to compose and developed teaching matherial with valid and practical process. The second purpose is to know the increasing of students ability in the mathematical problem solving in use developed teaching materials. The third purpose is to know the students responses of students about developed teaching materials. The research methodology was R&D and quasi experimental, with design model of Tessmer. The Subjects is all students of class X MIPA, teacher of mathematics in a one of public senior high school in Bandung, and lecturer of mathematics education. Data was collected though validation, limited testing, and field test of teaching materials. Based on the result of data processing and analysis in development of teaching materials has three conclusions. The first, teaching materials that compose and developed are valid, practical, and accordance with national curriculum. The presentment of developed teaching material is in accordance with the model problem-based learning. The second, developed teaching material increasing students ability in mathematical problem solving. The third, the students give a positive responses to developed teaching materials.

Abstract

Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik. Terdapat desain pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut, yakni metode inkuiri model Alberta. Tujuan pertama pada penelitian ini adalah meninvestigasi keberadaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik. Tujuan kedua adalah membandingkan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Tujuan ketiga adalah untuk mengetahui respon peserta didik terhadap metode inkuiri model alberta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain The Non-equivalent Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu SMP swasta di Kota Bandung. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis, kuisioner, dan lembar observasi. Berdasarkan analisis data, hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis di kelas eksperimen, peningkatan di kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibanding kelas kontrol, dan peserta didik memberi respon positif terhadap metode inkuiri model Alberta.

Abstract

This research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study aims to improve student learning outcomes using the expository method assisted powerpoint.This method is a method of learning that is used to provide information beforehand definitions, principles and concepts of the subject matter as well as provide examples of problem-solving exercises in the form of lectures, demonstrations, discussion and assignments were aided by using media powerpoint. This research was conducted at SMPN 3 Mande Cianjur academic year 2017/2018 with the subject of class VII-B, amounting to 32 students. This study was done three cycles. Each cycle held three meetings of three times and three times in the test learning. The instruments used in data collection is a task (task group and individual assignments in class), tests and observation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as average and percentage. The results showed the average value of student learning outcomes in the first cycle to the second cycle increased by 2.81% from the value of the first cycle is 70,63. In the third cycle, the average value of student learning outcomes decreased by 2.19% from the average value of the second cycle of student learning outcomes, namely 73.44 into 71.25. In addition, the third cycle, the average value of student learning outcomes increased by 0.63% from the average value of student learning outcomes become the first cycle is 70,63 71.25. Activities of students in the first cycle is quite active, relatively inactive in the second cycle and the third cycle classified as active. Based on these results, we can conclude that the increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes through expository method aided by a power point with material linear equations in one variable of class VII SMPN 3 Mande increased.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan dan menguji kelayakan media pembelajaran matematika berbasis android berdasarkan kelayakan dari penilaian Ahli media dan Ahli materi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah R&D (penelitian dan pengembangan). Prosedur yang digunakan dalam penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah prosedur dari borg and gall yang telah dimodifikasi oleh sugiono, dengan menggunakan 7 tahap dari 10 tahap yaitu potensi dan masalah, mengumpulkan informasi, design produk, validasi design, revisi design, uji coba produk, revisi produk. Penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah media pembelajaran matematika berbasis android yang telah dinyatakan valid dan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran matematika oleh 3 orang ahli materi yang memperoleh skor rata – rata 3,67 (Layak) dan 2 orang ahli media dengan perolehan skor rata – rata 3,59 (Layak) dengan masing – masing skor maksimal kelayakan adalah 4. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran matematika berbasis android valid dan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

The background of this research is the difficulties experienced by students in comprehending comprehensively and and solving problems related to the concept of permutation. Researchers also consider the importance of combinatorial thinking skills of students which in this case need to be optimized. This study aims to make learning design permutation material that can optimize students combinatorial thinking skills. This research was conducted at the place where the author worked in combinatorics and graph classes even semester 2017-2018 school year with 12 participants. This research is a research design consisting of 3 stages. The first stage is preliminary research, researcher analyzes the needs and context of learning activities, studies of literature, and develops a framework of thinking. The second stage is the stage of development, researcher validates the learning design for further revision (improvement), application design in class, and improvement based on meetings. The third stage is the assessment stage, researcher provides evaluation questions to students to find out the results of the application of the design related to the optimization of combinatorial thinking skills. The design results obtained in general are up to set review activities, discussion, self reflection, and evaluation. The second result is that there are 9 students (75%) who master all stages of combinatorial thinking.

Abstract

The backgroud of this research is the need for Mathematical Habits of Mind (MHM of  students to solve mathematic’s problems. The aim of this study is to find out the MHM level profile / criteria of students after implementation the Means Ends-Analysis learning model. This study uses qualitative approach. The method used is descriptive method. The subject of the research was the eighth grade students of Public Middle School in the city of Bandung. The instrument used is MHM questionnaire. The conclusion of this study is that the MHM level profile / criteria of students using MEA learning has a strong category
