Abstract

Proxy server is the intermediary between client and the Internet. The usage of proxy server is one of many means to avoid excessive access to the Internet. Proxy server’s cache will save every web page which has been accessed, so clients can save their bandwidth when they access same web pages repeatedly. Distributed proxy is a collection of connected proxy servers which has shared cache. This research will prove that distributed proxy server can shorten data access time and minimize bandwidth. Abstract

This research aims to give information regarding the speed of mathematical calculation on windows so that people can choose an operating system which suits them without wasting their time. In this research, we need a laptop and some operating systems (windows) so that we can compare one with the other accurately. The result of this research will be noted and analysed qualitatively, quantitatively, and descriptively. It shows that running the same mathematical calculation program on different operating systems will produce a same result but different time. Index Terms - calculate the speed, operating system

Abstract

In  this  research,  a  Distributed  File  Server (DFS) is developed to manage the need of a large storage space in the server, especially when the multimedia files are saved permanently in the web server. In the development, Apache Web Server is used with 1 computer as the main server, 2 computers as file servers, and 1 computer as the client who sends request. The result from the implementation of the DFS is the usage of main server’s storage space can be reduced by 99,77% from the full usage condition, causing an optimization in the web server. Another parameter is also being tested by the implementation of the DFS, which is the index.html page’s average access time. When only one server is being used, the average access time is 2,327 second. Whereas, when three servers are being used, the average access time is 5,577 second. Abstract

In this project, we demonstrated how to improve transfer rate when transfering data from a notebook installed FreeBSD operating system to another notebook installed Windows 8 operating system. The method which we used was with customizing the kernel on FreeBSD. Before we customized the kernel, we calculated the average time of the transfer speed with its default kernel. After we got the average time, then we customized its kernel and calculated the average time after we installed the custom kernel. At the end we got faster average time with the customized kernel and the performance better. Index Terms - FreeBSD, Server, Transfer rate, Improving

Abstract

Mobile operating system market shares always grow from year to year. The issue to make a mobile application in an easy, fast, and reliable way had arisen. Therefore, many UI framework to create mobile web application have been introduced, one of them is jQuery Mobile. jQuery Mobile with its’ ‘write less, do more’ slogan become popular among web mobile developers. In this paper, the author tries to build a stand-alone mobile application using jQuery Mobile as a prototype of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara mobile application. Abstract

The job challenge of the leaders of the organization unit of IS / IT (CIO) has been shifted from the beginning as well as supporting routine tasks becomes more complex and varied that support decisionmaking at the levels of supervisors, middle managers and even top leaders. The problem is for years 2014-2016 and job description of IS/IT leaders have shifted towards a more strategic longer. Pervasive computing capability and versatility of use IS / IT ecofriendly has become a reasonable claim. So that why the organization unit of the IS / IT will be led by a CIO and must be assisted by the CTO, COO and CPO. Organizational units IS/IT is not something monolithic anymore but is a combination of four functions simultaneously, namely operating computerized systems, developing systems, designing architecture and is able to identify new business needs. Every function requires a certain membership groups and different management strategies. Oriented activities in support of strategic business more importantly needed by companies or government agencies. The method used in this research is the study of literature and interviews with respondents. The results of the research conducted is that the duties and functions in a variety of major government agencies appears to look uniform and can be interpreted broadly so that needs to be made more specific for the central leadership organization unit of IS/IT to answer the challenges of the future. While the CIO job description of some large-scale private enterprises is highly variable and depends on the ability of the top management and also the creativity of CIO. Considering year 2014 is no longer, then it should be the top management of private companies and government agencies begin to prepare.
