The tradition of nyarang hujan, asking help of pawang to restrain or to move rain, is still used by Muslim society in Cimanuk Pandeglang Banten. It is usually performed when they will conduct a celebration (hajatan) by a hope that the rain will not drop when the ceremony is going on. This article is a result of field research aimed at understanding the phenomenon of such a tradition by using social approach. Obseroation and in-depth interoiews with the performers of the tradition of nyarang hujan are used to collect the data. This research shows that there is an acculturation process between Islamic values and local tradition in this phenomenon. Most people of Cimanuk society believe that Allah who has power to drop and stop rain; however, they have to do some efforts, called nyare'at, to achieve their hope through a pawang's pray. Abstract

As a tool of humans' communication, language is not static, but dynamic and progressive. The socio-cultural changes and the development of sciences give an impact toward the development of Arabic. The use of Arabic is not only limited for religious subjects, but also for daily communication and sciences. Many new vocabularies and academical terms absorbed into Arabic are derived from Romanic, Persian, Greek, Sanskrit, and other languages. Hence, it is clear to demonstrate that Arabic is a language of unifying people. Key Words: The Development of Language, The Socio-Cultural Changes, The Development of Sciences.

Abstract

Islamic banking has problems in determining its identities which are perceived variedly by the people. The profit sharing system and Islamic legal contract developed in Islamic finance are no longer perceived distinctively because they have been modified adjusting to the trends in common finance system. However, aspects that should have been the spirits (ruh) of Islamic finance can be systematically ruined in the merely profit-oriented infrastructure and business vision.             Muslim societies' problems should have been solved by the presence of Islamic banking. One of which is the problem of financial access far the have-nots. This can be constructed as a farm of support which acts as identities and cores of Islamic finance. A number of strategic steps offered in this paper are: 1. The purity of akad (contract) and the creation of togetherness; 2. Making humanity problems as the ultimate orientation, not the accumulation of capital- 3. Making use social modal, creating the environment of support through the development of norms and communal awareness in distributing risk as well as conducting continuous guidance.             Through those approaches and steps, Islamic banking is expected to have different identities from those of other finance systems. Therefore, togetherness and familyness (jama'ah wal ukhuwah) can constantly become the ultimate spirits in creating nation's welfare as written in article 33 of the National Constitution (UUD 194 5), and not through the individualistic competitive condition. Abstract

Prophetic Hadits has been served as the secondary source for inducting Arabic grammar (Iim al-Nahwu) next to the Qur'an. It was Ibnu Malik the first grammarian who developed a concept of employing Hadith in postulating his theories. Even though it is not arguable that there had been grammarians who had done so prior to him, attentions that had been payed to Hadits by those grammarians seemed to be not in balance with Hadith which actually has been the most loquence language for the Arabs. There were three stands of grammarians upon the Hadits: Most grammarians refused Hadits and preferred ancient Arabic poetry more than Hadits, some others openly took it into account, and the rest took the middle position.             This article aims at describing lbnu Maliks thoughts on the authority of Hadits as a source of Nahwu. He tried to prove that Hadits could, and still, play authoritative role in postulating theories of Nahwu. Key Words: Ibnu Malik, Nahwu, Hadith, Language
