Natural: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan IPA offers an interdisciplinary forum for the publication of original peer-reviewed, contributed and invited research articles of the highest quality that address different topics of science education with implications for improving and enhancing science education practices and theories. The topics involves biology, chemistry, physics, as well as some applications pedagogy and teacher development. The journal provides an invigorating and informative variety of research papers that expand and deepen our theoretical understanding. It also provides practice and policy based implications in the relevant contexts of science education. Published biannualy, the journal employs a rigorous peer review process. We do not accept manuscripts which are not easily understandable in English or do not address our major focus.

Abstract

The objective of this research were (1) to know the characteristic of sciece comic based on SETS plus national building; (2) to know the feasibility of science comic and; (3) to know the effectiveness of science comic. This research used Research and Development method with seven stages, these are: introduction, planning, developing, early try out, revision, limited try out and final product revision. The subject of this research was student of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta grade VII consist of 30 students. The data collecting instruments are validation sheet for media and science material expert, observation sheet, and students’ character questionnaire. The result of this research are 1) the characteristic of science comic were include national building and associated with SETS approach; 2) the feasibility of science comic is considered very good to use; and 3) the science comic applicate to develop student’s nasionalism character

Abstract

This research purpose to determine the increase in interest and science learning outcomes of through the implementation of cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS). This type of research is classroom action research (PTK). interest and science learning outcomes increased by 14.82%. This can be indicated by the increase of the average percentage of student interest based on the questionnaire results for each cycle, ie in the first cycle of 73.43% increased to 79.82% in Cycle II. At pre-cycles, the percentage of completeness is 35.71% or 10 completed students. Once given a cycle action one percentage of mastery increases to 60.71% or 17 completed students. Then in cycle two has increased to 100% or all students experience mastery with an average value of 84.46.

Abstract

This study descriptively aims to identify the result of the learning of science which was used the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and conventional model viewed from ability of teamwork on the students in eight grade of SMP Negeri 4 Wonosari in academic year 2016/2017. Comperitavely to determine the difference of the science learning result between the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and conventional model viewed from ability of teamwork on the student in eight grade of SMP Negeri 4 Wonosari in academic year 2016/2017. This study belongs to quasi experiment. The result of this study descriptively showed that the tendency of the learning result used the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) was the highest category and the learning result which was used conventional model belongs to the medium category. The identify of teamwork abiltiy reviewed used cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) was the high category and conventional model was the medium category. Comperatively there was a significance difference of the science learning result between the learning used the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and conventional model viewed from ability of teamwork on the student in eight grade of SMP Negeri 4 Wonosari in academic year 2016/2017. The average of the learning result that the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) was higher conventional model, it means that there was the influence of cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type to the learning result of science viewed from ability of teamwork student grade VIII SMP Negeri 4 Wonosari academic year 2016/2017.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the significane difference between the students’ learning outcomes that were taught by using computer- based media and a conventional method in terms of students’ motivation of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Gringsing Batang in 2016/2017 academic year. This study was a quasi experimental study. Two of four classes were taken as the sample group. The data were gained through tests. To analyzee the data, this study employed a One-Way ANAKOVA test. The result revealed that the mean value the students that were taught by using computer-based media was 23,429 and those that were taught by using a conventional method in terms of students’ motivation was 17,517. In conclusion, there is a significance difference between the students’ learning outcomes that were taught by using computer-based media and a conventional method in terms of students’ motivation.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the impact of using CTL method toward the students’ learning achievement in the science of grade VIII reviewed from communication ability. The object of this research was the students’ learning achievement in a science subject. This type of the research is quasi-experiment. The techniques of collecting the data are using test, questioner, and documentation. The instrument test is multiple choice; consist of  40 questions and questioner consist of 30 statements. As the result, the researcher obtained f calculate = 5,962 with p = 0,016, the average of learning result is 28,37, the average of the questioner is 75,03. based on the average of the learning achievement and questioner, there is an impact of using CTL method toward the students’ learning achievement in the science of grade VIII reviewed from communication ability.

Abstract

This research has succeeded in developing student worksheet based on scientific approach to fourth grade students of Elementary School. This research is based on the implementation of the 2013 curriculum emphasizes the theme as a unifying of various subjects and prioritizes learning that aims to activate students. But all this time the teacher only rely on teacher books and student books and supporting use of student worksheets from publishers. The student worksheet has not been able to balance the content of the expected curriculum. The student worksheet contains a brief summary of the subject and practice questions. Thus, the problem in this research is how the feasibility of development of student worksheet based on scientific approach of sub theme of Energy Source? The type of research undertaken is research development (Research and Development) with Borg & Gall learning system design model. This study was piloted in class IV SD Negeri 01 Podosugih as many as 10 students. From this research result of product of Student Worksheet based on scientific approach to support implementation of curriculum 2013 in sub theme sub theme 2 theme of Energy Source in fourth grade of elementary school. based on the validation result through 2 stages: a) the result of validation of the material of learning material of phase I obtained the average of 53.12 criteria less feasible and stage II 77,08 criterion is feasible. b) the result of validation of expert evaluation of learning media of phase I get the average, 78,33 eligible criterion and stage II 91,67 criterion very feasible. c) teacher response earned an average of 91.00 very positive criteria. d) result of questionnaire student response get average 88,10 with criterion very positive. The researchers suggestion is that students are accustomed in scientific-based learning, in order to stimulate students activeness and critical thinking, so that time allocation can be done well, and student worksheet based on scientific approach can be used for further research.

Abstract

This research is descriptive to know the tendency of science learning result and student learning motivation through Cooperative Learning Model of TSTS Type and Direct Learning Model. Comparatively to know the difference of science learning outcomes of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta in the academic year 2016/2017 between the TSTS type cooperative model and the direct model in terms of student learning motivation. Type of Quasi Experimental research. Analyze data with anacova. Anacova test results obtained Fcount = 32.638 with p = 0,000, because p ≤ 0.01 then concluded there is a very significant difference. Descriptively the tendency of science learning outcomes and student learning motivation with cooperative model type TSTS higher than direct model. means cooperative learning model TSTS type more effective in improving science learning outcomes compared with direct learning model in terms of students learning motivation.

Abstract

In a descriptive, the aim of this study was to find out activeness, learning motivation and science result. In a correlative, this study to find out the correlation between activeness and learning motivation on science result study of the 7th-grade student secondary school of subdistrict Pandak in academic year 2015/2016. The study samples were taken by proportional random sampling technique. The data of activeness and learning motivation were collected by using question and data of natural science achievement acquired by using multiple choice test. Data analyzed by using correlation test. The result of this research showed that the trend of activeness was in the very high category, learning motivation was in the medium category, meanwhile, achievement in natural science was in the high category. In a correlative, there is a correlation that positive and very significant between activeness and learning motivation on science result study of 7th-grade student secondary school of subdistrict Pandak in academic year 2015/2016.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the descriptive trends of natural science learning outcomes of eighth-grade students SMP N 3 Kasihan Bantul academic year 2016/2017 which guided by inquiry learning approach and expository. Comparatively to determine the differences in natural science learning outcomes of eighth-grade students of SMP N 3 Kasihan Bantul academic year 2016/2017 between learning by using guided inquiry approach and expository. The research used Quasi-Experimental research type. Descriptively the results of the research showed that the trends of natural science learning outcomes eighth-grade students of SMP N 3 Kasihan Bantul academic year 2016/2017 which guided inquiry learning approach including very high category, while the use of expository learning models including in the high category. Comparatively, there were significant differences in natural science learning outcomes of eighth-grade students of SMP N 3 Kasihan Bantul academic year 2016/2017 between guided inquiry learning approach and expository. It Meant the were any influences of guided inquiry approach to natural science learning outcomes eighth-grade students of SMP N 3 Kasihan Bantul academic year 2016/2017.
