Natural: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan IPA offers an interdisciplinary forum for the publication of original peer-reviewed, contributed and invited research articles of the highest quality that address different topics of science education with implications for improving and enhancing science education practices and theories. The topics involves biology, chemistry, physics, as well as some applications pedagogy and teacher development. The journal provides an invigorating and informative variety of research papers that expand and deepen our theoretical understanding. It also provides practice and policy based implications in the relevant contexts of science education. Published biannualy, the journal employs a rigorous peer review process. We do not accept manuscripts which are not easily understandable in English or do not address our major focus.

Abstract

Secara tidak langsung, terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu. Siswa yang menguasai kemampuan literasi sains umumnya memiliki rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu siswa, khususnya pada materi ekosistem. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan dengan sampel sebanyak 36 siswa yang berada pada kelas XI IPA. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan uji korelasi product momen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 53% siswa memiliki kemampuan literasi sains. Sedangkan rasa ingin tahu siswa berada pada kategori tinggi dengan jumlah persentase siswa sebanyak 78%. Selanjutnya, pengujian terhadap hubungan kedua aspek tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu dengan nilai korelasi 0.424. Berdasarkan nilai tersebut dapat disimpulkan behwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sain dan rasa ingin tahu siswa.  Correlation Between Science Literacy and Student Curiosity on Ecosistem TopicAbstractThere are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity indirectly. Students who have view in science literacy usually have high curiosity. Therefore, this research has been done to find out the correlation between science literacy and students/ curiosity, especially in ecosystem topic. The study was done at SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan and the sample are 36 eleventh grade students of IPA. Sample of this research was selected using simple random sampling. The data that has been collected was then analyzed using product moment correlation. The result showed that there are 53% of students have view in science literacy. Meanwhile, there are 78% of students have high curiosity. After that, the test on correlation between those two aspects showed that there are correlation between science literacy and curiosity with correllation coeficient 0.424. It can be concluded that there are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA di sekolah sangat memerlukan sarana dan prasarana, salah satunya berupa Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS). Guru dituntut kreativitasnya dalam membuat bahan ajar berupa LKS yang menerapkan pendekatan saintifik untuk mengaktifkan siswa ketika proses pembelajaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis inquiry pada materi pengukuran dalam pembelajaran IPA di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4D dengan empat tahapan pengembangan, yaitu define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), development (pengembangan), dan dissemination (penyebaran). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKS berbasis inquiry yang dikembangkan memiliki kriteria valid dan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Respon siswa terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan memiliki kategori baik. Jadi, LKS berbasis inquiry pada materi pengukuran yang dikembangkan efektif diterapkan dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kreativitas siswa.   AbstractScience teaching in schools need more facilities and infrastructure, one of which is a Student Worksheet. Teachers are required creativity in making teaching materials that apply a scientific approach to enable students to do the learning process in the classroom. This study aims to develop an integrated inquiry based Student Worksheet on the measurement material science teaching in Junior High School (SMP). This research is a development research with 4D model with four stages of development, namely define (definition), design (design), development (development), and dissemination (spread). The results showed that Student Worksheet based inquiry developed has valid and feasible criteria in learning. The students response to the developing Student Worksheet has a good category. Thus, Student Worksheet based inquiry on the materials developed are effective in learning to enhance students creativity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS pada materi limbah yang layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi, 2) mengetahui keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS pada materi limbah terhadap motivasi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. R&D ini menggunakan model 4-D yang diadaptasi dari Thiagarajan, et al. (1974), meliputi tahap define, design, develop, dan dissemminate. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. 1)  Perangkat pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS pada materi limbah untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang dihasilkan mempunyai kelayakan sangat baik sebagai perangkat pembelajaran biologi di SMA. 2) Pengimplementasian perangkat pembelajaran tersebut efektif untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Perbedaan motivasi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tampak di kelas eksperimen, dimana motivasi siswa meningkat sebesar 5,81 point dan kemampuan berpikir kritis meningkat sebesar 65,16 point, sedangkan di kelas kontrol, motivasi siswa meningkat sebesar 5,35 point dan kemampuan berpikir kritis sebesar 61,50 point. Developing a cooperative teaching of TPS type to increase the motivation and cts of the student AbstractThis study aims to: 1) produce TPS type cooperative learning device on waste material which is fit for use in biology class, 2) discover the effectiveness of TPS type cooperative learning device on waste material on students’ motivation and critical thinking skill. This study was a research using by R&D model 4-D which was adapted  from Thiagarajan, et al. (1974) which consists of define, design, develop, and  disseminate. The research results are as follows: 1) Cooperative learning type of TPS device on waste material to increase students’ motivation and critical thinking skill produced has good feasibility according to material experts, media experts, biology teachers, and associates’ assessments. 2) The implementation of the learning device is effective in increasing students’ motivation and critical thinking skill. The differences of students’ motivation and critical thinking skill are obvious in the experimental class, in which students’ motivation increased for by 5.81 points and critical thinking skill increased by 65.16 points, while in control class, students’ motivation increased by 5.35 points and critical thinking skill by 61.50 points.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat profesionalisme kinerja guru biologi SMA yang tersertifikasi di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara melalui jalur PLPG, ditinjau dari aspek kemampuan dalam membuat perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran, dan penilaian pembelajaran. penelitian merupakan  penelitian evaluasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tujuh SMA negeri dan swasta di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara. Subjek penelitian adalah 10 guru-guru biologi yang telah lulus sertifikasi melalui jalur PLPG pada tahun 2007-2011. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa rerata tingkat profesionalisme kinerja guru-guru biologi SMA negeri dan swasta di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara yang tersertifikasi melalui jalur PLPG dalam membuat perencanaan pembelajaran adalah kategori baik sedangkan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran di dalam kelas adalah kategori cukup dan dalam penilaian pembelajaran kategori baik. Artinya guru biologi SMA di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara yang tersertifikasi memiliki kinerja baik masih di bawah standar. The performance professionalism level of the certified high school biology teachers in Southeast Maluku Regency AbstractThis study was aimed at determining the level of performance professionalism of the PLPG certified high school biology teachers in Southeast Maluku Regency, based on their ability to create teaching plan, implementation, and evaluation. The study was evaluation research and carried out in seven state and private high schools in Southeast Maluku Regency. It focused on 10 certified biology teachers who have passed through PLPG in the year 2007 - 2011. The sample was established using the saturated sampling technique. The data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews and documentation, and analyzed using the descriptive qualitative analysis. The results reveal that the average professionalism level of biology teachers certified through PLPG in both government and private high schools in Southeast Maluku Regency is categorized as good for lesson planning, fairly good for teaching implementation in the classroom and good in learning assessment. This means that the certified high school biology teachers in Southeast Maluku Regency has a good performance is still below standard.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: (1) perbedaan model pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar siswa (2) perbedaan minat belajar tinggi dan rendah terhadap hasil belajar siswa (3) ada tidaknya interaksi antara model pembelajaran dan minat belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Taman Dewasa IP tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data kemampuan awal, teknik tes untuk mengumpulkan data hasil belajar IPA dan teknik angket untuk mengumpulkan data minat belajar siswa. Teknik analisis data untuk uji hipotesis menggunakan analisis variansi dua jalan dengan sel tak sama (ANAVA) yang diawali dengan uji prasyaratan anaisis yaitu uji normalitas sebaran dan uji homogenitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang sudah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) ada perbedaan antara model pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar IPA (p=0,000), (2) ada perbedaan minat belajar tinggi dan rendah terhadap hasil belajar IPA (p=0,000), (3) ada interaksi antara model pembelajaran dan minat belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA (p=0,024), jika dilihat dari rerata hasil belajar siswa maka ada pengaruh model quiz team terhadap hasil belajar IPA ditinjau dari minat belajar siswa.The influence of quiz team on the science learning outcomes in terms of students learning interestAbstractThe aim of this research was to know: (1) The difference of learning methods on student’s learning outcomes, (2) The difference between learning interest of study high-ranking and slightingly, (3) Whether or not the interaction between learning Methods and learning interest to learn of student learning towards science learning outcomes. The type of this research is Quasi Experiment. This experiment was conducted in students grade VIII TD IP Junior high school on 2017/2018 school of years. Documentation is the techniques used to collect the primary capability. Test Techniques using for collect data on science learning outcomes and questionnaires for collect data on student learning interest. The data analysis technique is used for hypothesis test which is using two way variance analysis with unequal cell (ANAVA) which begins with the analysis prerequisite test is the test of distribution normality and homogeneity test. The conclusion is: 1) There is an difference between the learning models on the learning outcomes of Science (p=0,000), 2) There is a difference between learning interest of study high-ranking and slightingly for the learning outcomes of Science (p=0,000), 3) There is any interaction between the learning methods and the student’s learning interest to learn toward the learning outcomes of science (p=0,024), if seen from the average of student learning outcomes then there is influence of the team quiz models on learning outcomes in review of student interest in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan perangkat rural tourism yang layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran biologi dilihat dari aspek materi/ isi, penyajian, kebahasaan, dan kegrafisan. (2) mengetahui pengaruh penerapan produk perangkat rural tourism dalam meningkatkan high order thinking skills, (3) mengetahui kualitas penerapan produk perangkat rural tourism dalam menanamkan life skills. (4) mengetahui kelayakan dan kesesuaian Perangkat kegiatan rural tourism dengan prinsip-prinsip rural tourism dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian pengembangan perangkat rural tourism ini menggunakan model 4-D (define, design, develop, dan disseminate) yang dikemukakan oleh Thiagarajan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) perangkat rural tourism yang disusun layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran biologi dilihat dari aspek materi/ isi, penyajian, kebahasaan, dan kegrafisan oleh dosen ahli, praktisi, dan peer reviewer, (2) pengaruh penerapan perangkat rural tourism yang disusun mampu meningkatkan high order thinking skills yang ditunjukkan dari gain standar, uji coba terbatas yang diperoleh sebesar 0,72 (kategori tinggi) dan effect size 2,85 serta pada uji coba luas diperoleh gain standar sebesar 0,7 (kategori tinggi) dan effect size 3,94, (3) kualitas penerapan perangkat rural tourism yang disusun mampu menanamkan life skills, pada uji coba terbatas menunjukkan 76,04% dan pada uji coba luas 85%, hal ini berarti siswa memiliki kecakapan hidup (Life Skills) yang sangat baik, (4) perangkat rural tourism 100% dinyatakan layak dan sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip rural tourism. AbstractThis study was aimed to: (1) to produce a rural tourism package as an alternative of biology learning resources in terms of the material/content, language, presentation, and graphics components, (2) the effect of a rural tourism package to improve high order thinking skills of the concepts, (3) the quality of a rural tourism package to embed life skills of the concepts, and (4) the feasibility and suitability of the rural tourism package with the principles of rural tourism. The development of rural tourism package used the model of 4-D (define, design, develop, and disseminate) proposed by Thiagarajan. The results of this study indicate: (1) the rural tourism package is considered very good in terms of material/content, presentation, linguistics, and graphics components by faculty experts, practitioners, and peer-reviewers, (2) the application of rural tourism package is able to improve the high order thinking skills, which is shown from the standard gain on limited experiment obtained as much as 0.72 (high category) and size effect of 2.88, and extended experiment obtained 0,7 (high category) and size effect of 3.94, (3) application of rural tourism package is capable of embed life skills in limited testing as much as 76.04 % and the extended experiment of 85% of students with life skills is excellent, and (4) the rural tourism package is feasible and suitable with the principles of rural tourism.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimental yang secara deskriptif bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecenderungan hasil belajar IPA dan motivasi belajar siswa melalui model pembelajaran Mind mapping dan model pembelajaran ekspositori. Secara komparatif untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Taman Dewasa Ibu Pawiyatan Tahun Pelajaran 2017/2018 antara model pembelajaran Mind mapping dan model pembelajaran ekspositori ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa. Analisis data dengan Anacova. Hasil uji anacova didapat Fhitung = 62,244 dengan p = 0,000, karena p < 0,01 maka disimpulkan ada perbedaan yang sangat signifikan. Secara deskriptif kecenderungan hasil belajar IPA dan motivasi belajar siswa dengan model pembelajaran Mind mapping lebih tinggi daripada model ekspositori. Berarti model pembelajaran Mind mapping lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran ekspositori ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa.AbstractThis research was quasi-experimental research in descriptive aims to find out the results of learning motivation and learning IPA students through the learning Mind mapping model and the model of learning expository. Comparatively to find out the difference a result learn IPA grade VIII SMP Taman Dewasa Ibu PawiyatanYears It Lessons 2017/2018 between learning Mind mapping model and model learning expository learning motivation of students. Data analysis with Anacova. Anacova test results obtained Fcount = 62.224 with p = 0.000 because p <0.01 then it was concluded that there was a very significant difference. In a descriptive study results trend of IPA and the motivation of students with a learning Mind mapping model higher than expository. Mind mapping learning models mean more effective in improving learning results compared to the IPA learning expository learning motivation of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran Inquiry terhadap hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Imogiri tahun ajaran 2017/2018 ditinjau dari keterampilan bertanya siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan anacova. Uji prasyarat analisisnya menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas dan linieritas. Hasil penelitian secara komparatif menunjukan ada perbedaan yang sangat signifikan hasil belajar IPA anatara model pembelajaran Inquiry dan model pembelajaran langsung ditinjau dari keterampilan bertanya siswa dengan Fhitung = 17,257 dan p = 0,000. Rerata hasil belajar IPA dan keterampilan bertanya dengan pembelajaran Inquiry lebih tinggi dari model pembelajaran langsung, maka ada pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Inquiry terhadap hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VII ditinjau dari keterampilan bertanya siswa. AbstractThis research aims to discover the influence of learning inquiry to the learning outcomes of science student of the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Imogiri in terms of their questioning skill, in the academic year of 2017/2018. The type of this research is a quasi-experiment. The technique to collecting data is using test and questionnaires. The technique of the data analysis is using anacova. The test of analysis prerequisite is using the test of normality, homogeneity, and linearity. The outcomes of the research comparatively demonstrates that there is a significant difference of  learning outcomes of natural science (IPA) between inquiry learning model and direct learning model observed by student’s questioning skill with F = 17,257 and P = 0,00. The average of science learning outcomes and questioning skills with Inquiry learning is higher than direct learning model, then there is the influence of the use of Inquiry learning model to the results of science learning of seventh grade students in terms of students questioning skills.

Abstract

The objective of this research were (1) to know the characteristic of sciece comic based on SETS plus national building; (2) to know the feasibility of science comic and; (3) to know the effectiveness of science comic. This research used Research and Development method with seven stages, these are: introduction, planning, developing, early try out, revision, limited try out and final product revision. The subject of this research was student of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta grade VII consist of 30 students. The data collecting instruments are validation sheet for media and science material expert, observation sheet, and students’ character questionnaire. The result of this research are 1) the characteristic of science comic were include national building and associated with SETS approach; 2) the feasibility of science comic is considered very good to use; and 3) the science comic applicate to develop student’s nasionalism character

Abstract

This research purpose to determine the increase in interest and science learning outcomes of through the implementation of cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS). This type of research is classroom action research (PTK). interest and science learning outcomes increased by 14.82%. This can be indicated by the increase of the average percentage of student interest based on the questionnaire results for each cycle, ie in the first cycle of 73.43% increased to 79.82% in Cycle II. At pre-cycles, the percentage of completeness is 35.71% or 10 completed students. Once given a cycle action one percentage of mastery increases to 60.71% or 17 completed students. Then in cycle two has increased to 100% or all students experience mastery with an average value of 84.46.
