Abstract

The purpose of this study to design a measurement instrument independence character of middle school students. Research using research and development (R & D). Stages of the research process include: reviewing the concept, making the construct and design the instruments, experts’ assessment, the empirical pre-test, and empirical testing. Test experts were conducted by experts through quantitative and qualitative assessments were followed by improvements to the instrument. Pre empirical testing was done by trial and instruments in small-scale followed by repair and selection of items. Empirical testing is a field test on a large scale at middle school students who were followed by the selection of grains and calculation of reliability of the instrument. Research and development results obtained as follows. (1) Measurement code developed with the student independence four dimensions: freedom, initiative, progressive and resilient, and confident. The dimension of freedom comprising: able to make their own choices and able to perform his own activities. Dimension Initiative consists of: being able to think and act in an indigenous, and doing creative activities. The results of this study are expected secondary school teachers can have a reference or guidelines for measuring the character of student independence

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe preservice teachers’ mathematical reasoning ability in solving algebra problem based on reflective and impulsive cognitive style. Therefore, the total subject of this research is two pre-service teacher who has the cognitive style different from each other. It means that the subject of this research is one pre-service teacher who has reflective cognitive style and one pre-service teacher who has an impulsive cognitive style. In addition, the category of research method used is explorative research with the qualitative approach where researchers tried to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of pre-service teachers in solving the mathematical problem according to cognitive style. As for the components of mathematical reasoning ability in this research are analysis, generalization, synthesis, justifying and non-routine problem-solving. According to the components, there was one subject who could analyze the given problem while the others subjects could not. Moreover, all of the subjects have a difficulty in another component.

Abstract

One of the goals of the development of the 2013 curriculum is the change of the learning process (from students to be learned to students to find out) by focusing on improving cognitive and skills. The fact shows that the process of physics learning in high school is still not fully in accordance with the principles of applying the curriculum 2013 so that the impact on the low achievement of cognitive abilities and students science process skills. Based on these problems, a pre-experiment research was conducted using a one-pretest-posttest research design that aims to obtain an overview of cognitive skills improvement and students science process skills as the impact of integrated learning cycle stages with inquiry labs method in physics learning. The results showed that there was an increase in cognitive abilities and science process skills of students with N-gain of 0.57 and 0.69.

Abstract

This research is aimed to develop high school physics teaching materials that can provide independent learning to high school students in Physics learning, in accordance with the demands of the curriculum. The research applied research development methods. It is implemented in FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof.DR.HAMKA and the trial and implementation are done in a number of high schools in Jakarta in 2017. The development of physics learning module with contextual approach was implemented in several stages, the first is analysis, the second is feasibility test, and the last is field trial. The instruments consisted of needs analysis questionnaire, validation sheet of feasibility test, and validation sheet of the test results. The module developed was validated by senior physics teachers in several high schools in Jakarta. The validation shows interpretation score of 73% - 93%. Physics learning module with contextual approach on wave material already has correct components, and it is feasible to be used as a companion module.

Abstract

The "FindBoiliQ" learning program is a high school physics learning program utilizing the boiler industry (steam engine) as an inquiry-based learning object as a learning method. The research methodology in this study is a research development (Research and Development, abbreviated R & D) in the field of education. This study focuses on the development of learning programs "FindBoiliQ" is short for Physics, Industrial-Boiler and InQuiry, also is a combination of the words "Find, Boil, and iQ" The meaning contained in the 3 words of physics as high school subjects, boiler industry is the object of learning, and Inquiry is a method of learning, all three have different roles and functions to form a physics learning program that can improve student achievement. "FindBoiliQ" has characteristics based on the above word equivalents, ie; electing the concepts of physics that are considered complex given the stimulus in the form of activity visits to the object of learning to observe the implementation of physics concepts in the real world so that students have a response in the form of an increase in their curiosity on the concept that is considered complex. The strong curiosity of students is further enhanced by the interactive Multimedia (MMI) of learning that is able to imagine the concept of the abstract to something more real. The results of the "FindBoliQ" implementation in experimental class students are able to improve concept comprehension better than the students understanding of the concept of control class with regular learning on the same concept.

Abstract

This study aims to improve understanding of electricity concept and creativity of learners through the model of learning PjBL-C. Project-based learning is a learning model involving learners in problem-solving and other meaningful task assignments, resulting in a project or product in understanding learning. PjBL-C is a collaborative PjBL and community where learners learn directly on BTL. Subjects in this study were students of class IX-A SMP Negeri 1 Temanggung, amounting to 30 students. This form of research is a classroom action research as much as two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis model. Data collection methods used were observation and test. The result of his research shows that the learning model of PjBL-C can improve the students understanding of the concept of IX-A students of SMP Negeri 1 Temanggung. This is evidenced by the percentage of learning completeness of students that before the action is given to cycle 1 is increased 16%, increase from cycle I to cycle II by 44%, and increase from beginning to cycle II by 60%. PjBL-C learning model can also improve the creativity of students of class IX-A SMP Negeri 1 Temanggung. This is evidenced by the percentage of the average value of learners is the increase from cycle I to cycle II by 30%. The conclusion of this research is through the use of model PjBL-C can improve understanding of electric concept and creativity of learners

Abstract

The level of performance among Indonesian students in Mathematics is still critical. This study aims at comparing provinces within each of three islands, and then all three Islands in general, the comparison focused on the performance in mathematics during 2014/2015 national examination. Islands involved in the current research are Java, Sumatera, and Kalimantan. For each province from every island, the researchers selected urban districts by using the formula of Krecie & Morgan (1970), with .05 degree of accuracy, and then systematic sampling to select schools. On Java Island, the researchers selected 669 out of 1065 schools, 508 out of 621 schools on Sumatera Island, and 203 out of 235 schools on Kalimantan Island. Gathering data involved documentation. The researchers analyzed the data by using NCSS 11 and JASP 0.8.3.1. The findings indicated a significant difference among provinces and even Islands on the performance in Mathematics, p<.01, and Sumatera is the most performing island in Mathematics.

Abstract

The application of instructional strategy must be considered to the characteristics and students culture to get an optimal learning result. The Indonesian characters to be based on this strategy isnt finish the task well if there is no compulsion or punishment. This character to be a background of purpose task and forced instructional strategy. This strategy emphasized a routine task and well plan for the students, notice the deadline for finishing the task and the punishment if the task doesnt finish well. This strategy can be the alternative strategy to increase learning quality, especially to develop the students awareness about how the study is the important things for themselves.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK), which aims to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics through NHT type cooperative learning model in students of class VIII A MTs. Muhammadiyah conducted collaboratively between researchers and teachers of mathematics studies. In the implementation of this research, it is done by giving group worksheet and observation sheet of student activity using NHT type cooperative learning model after giving an explanation about Pythagoras Theorem material as much as two cycles that cycle I and II. After being given group worksheets then conducted the assessment includes assessment of test results of a cycle I and cycles II and group worksheet to students that is by applying learning model of cooperative learning type NHT. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII A which amounted to 20 students consisting of 15 male students and 5 female students. Techniques of collecting data in research are this observation and test. The data obtained were then analyzed. The results of the study showed that the implementation using NHT type cooperative learning model on Pythagoras Theorem material. the ability of students in solving problems on the material above has increased. With the increase of the average value of students in the first cycle was 43.45 and increased in cycle II 83.90. Improvement of student learning outcomes to mathematics learning using NHT type cooperative learning is good. This is indicated by the average value of group learning outcomes in cycle I 60.00 or being in the medium category and the average score of the learning outcomes of the group in cycle I 82.50 or in the high category. This shows the result of increased mathematics learning after conducting cooperative learning model of NHT type

Abstract

Physics learning aims to gain an understanding of facts, the ability to recognize and solve problems on an object, and have a scientific attitude that can be demonstrated in everyday reality. With the development of curriculum in universities, students are allowed to further hone their skills in following the learning in the classroom. The method used in this research is quantitative approach by using questionnaire of learning motivation, learning result as a data source. The population at the same time the subject used is Civil Engineering student class A with total 35 students. The results showed that the average student learning outcomes were 74, 65, the standard deviation of 5.37 with the highest score was in the score of 85.00 and the lowest score was 66.00, the learning motivation scores were in the 100-130 interval for the high category, score 0 -80 medium category. Regression test results obtained tcount: 7, 54> ttable: 1.68, with a significance level of 0.05. So the motivation to learn students in the implementation of lab laboratory is very supportive students in construct knowledge and skills possessed. The conclusion in this research is the need of improvement from the aspect of students learning motivation in following the learning or the implementation of practicum activities so that the learning outcomes obtained are satisfactory.
