Abstract

Pb (lead) was a metal that doesnt regulated by water organisms so that the metal was constantly acumulated in organisms tissue. Currently, the pollution Pb in the waters of Indonesia have exceeded the maximum threshold of pollution defined by the government.Daphnia spp. is the organism that have been developed as a bioassay in some developed countries like U.S. and Japan because it has a rapid life cycle that is about three weeks, are sensitive to the chemical in the waters ecology and has an important role in the ecology of freshwater as the first of trophic level in the waters ecology. Target of this research is to obtain information about the concentration of heavy metals Pb that correlated with of Daphnia spp. color changes and increase of male offsprings of Daphnia spp.. This research was ththconducted on november 24, 2008 until December 8, 2008 in the Laboratory Education of fisheries, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Airlangga University.This research use method of experimental design with Completely Randomized Design (RAL)  with five treatments and four rerplicates. Treatment A (control), exposure of Pb in concentration 0 mg/L. Treatment B, Pb concentration 0.90 mg/L, Treatment C, Pb concentration 1.8 mg/L, Treatment D, Pb concentration 2.7 mg/L, and Treatment E with Pb concentration 3.63 mg/L. Collected data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with error rate or á = 0,05, if there are a different, hence continued with Duncans Multiple Range Test. Collected data were analyzed again using linear regression graph to estimate the enhanced in every treatment.The results of research indicates that the heavy metal Pb exposure with different concentrations to the adult female Daphnia spp. did not showing significant different of the daphnia spp. color change. This is because the condition of Hypoxia (oxygen deficiency) more dominant than the increase of methyl farnesoate to influence increase of Daphnia spp.s haemoglobin synthesa.Besides, research also indicates that the heavy metals Pb exposure with different concentrations to the adult sex Daphnia spp. provide a very significant percentage of male Daphnia spp. offsprings. This happens due to the increase of methyl farnesoate in Daphnia spp. inhibit the formation of female sex of Daphnia spp. offsprings by adult Daphnia spp. that expossured by Pb. Result of processing data using linear regression is a formula y = 18.76x + 3.104. this formula can be used to estimate concentration of Pb in water based on percentage of male offsprings of Daphnia spp. Water quality during research showed the waters pH range between 8.2 - 8.5,  dissolved oxygen (DO) oranged between 8.0 - 8.5 mg/L, waters temperature was 26C and ammonia level was 0.03 mg/L. This Conditions of water quality was the optimal conditions to support Daphnia spp. life.Key words : Pb (lead), color change, male offsprings, Daphnia spp.

Abstract

Scenedesmus sp. is a microalgae as a fish and shrimp larva feed because the high nutrition value, easy to culture and harvest. The aim of these research are to know massal culture of the high density of Scenedesmus sp. and to use for Rotifera feed (natural and concetrate type).3The experiment used one m of massal culture of Scenedesmus sp. In 0,8,16 and 24 ppt. The result showed 6that 16 ppt treatment gave the best daily growth of Scenedesmus sp.(6.78 x 10 cell/ml).Analysis of proximate and fatty acids of Scenedesmus sp. In 16 ppt also showed the best contents of protein, fat, EPA and DHA.Key words : Scenedesmus sp., nutrition feed, rotifera, natural type, concentrate type

Abstract

Grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) is a kind of coral reef fish that only lives and grows fast in tropical areas. The grouper fish (Cromileptes altivelis) is one of high economy value sea fishes. One of the ways to increase the grouper fish (Cromileptes altivelis) production is by enhancing the feeding management. The energy feeds are  the ones containing high energy. High energy is able to improve the feeding efficiency and the increasing weight of grouper fish (Cromileptes altivelis) and to reduce the water contamination.The research is aimed to know the influence of the different feeding energy to the growth rate, feed efficiency, fat content and the survival rate of grouper fry (Cromileptes altivelis).  The research method used in this one was the experiment and the applied design was Complete Random Design (CRD) with 5 treatments. The treatments were A (3.263,92 kkal/kg) as controller, B (3.291,59 kkal/kg), C (3.330,62 kkal/kg), D (3.453,35 kkal/kg), E (3.535,35 kkal/kg) and every treatment was repeated four times. The obtained data were analysed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there were  differences, it will be continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT).The research showed that the daily growth rate, the feed efficiency, the fat content and survival rate of grouper fry were the same respectively (p>0.05).Key words : high energy diet, grouper fish (Cromileptes altivelis), daily growth rate, feed efficiency, fat content and survival rate

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out optimum percentage of given fermentation the prawn waste flour in artificial feed on growth of black nile tilapia. The treatment of this research was giving fermentation the prawn waste flour in artificial feed i.e. 0%, 2,5%, 5%, 7,5%, 10%. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Feed compositon was made of isoprotein. Fishes weight were about 6.1 – 6.8 g. Fishes were cultured with stocking rate 3 fish per 20 liter water and the fishes were reared for 40 days. Feed amount that consumed by fishes was measured every day to calculate feed conversion ratio. The calculation of fishes amount was done in beginning and end of research to count survival rate of fishes. Water quality was measured on beginning, middle and end of research. The design of this research was Completely Randomized Design. Data analysis used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to know the effect of the treatment and that difference among the treatment used Duncans Multiple Range Test (DMRT).The result of the research showed that the highest growrth rate were attained on feed containing 10% of fermented prawn waste flour. The best feed convertion ratio were attained on feed containing 10% of fermented prawn waste flour.Key words : nile tilapia, fermentation the prawn waste flour, growth

Abstract

The chromosome manipulation in fish is one of the strategy that will be used to produce of the high generation and good quality in its genetics, as follow fast to grow, disease resistant, high survival, tolerate with environment exchange and easy to be cultured. One of manipulation chromosome the method in fish used thermal temperature shock. The aim of the study was to know the thermal temperature shock and the time after fertilization forward hatching rate and abnormality of nile fish larvae and also to know the thermal temperature shock and the time after fertilization that resulted the best hatching rate and abnormality in nile fish larvae. The method was Factorial Completed Randomized Design as experimental design. The treatment used temperatures shock were 40ºC, 41ºC and 42ºC as long as 2,5 minutes, with the time of 80, 85 and 90 minutes after fertilization, each treatment was four replications. The primary parameter was hatching rate and abnormality of nile fish larvae and the secondary parameter were fertilization and water quality. The result showed that the thermal temperature shock was significantly influenced to hatch rate and abnormality, but the time of shocking after fertilization and the interaction between them showed were not significantly influenced to hatch rate and abnormality. The highest of hatching rate and abnormality percentage was showed by the treatment with shocking 40°C was 90,77 percent and 2,60 percent.Key words : nile fish, hatching rate, abnormality, heat temperature shock, time  after fertilization

Abstract

In general, Gracilaria culture still using organic and inorganic fertilizer single. Organic or inorganic fertilizer applied is felt have not yet enough to support the growth of Gracilaria. The aim of this experiment was to know the best compost and NPK combinations which could influence on growth, chlorophyll a and water content of G.verrucosa. Treatment applied was compost and NPK combinations with different doses, that is A treatment (0 gr/l :  2 gr/l), B treatment (0,5 gr/l : 1,5 gr/l), C treatment (1 gr/l : 1gr/l), D treatment (1,5 gr/l : 0,5 gr/l), E treatment (2 gr/l : 0 gr/l) and F treatment (without fertilizer), each treatment was replicated 4 times. Main parameter observed was daily growth rate (%/day), relative length growth (%), chlorophyll a (ìg/ml) and water content (%) of G.verrucosa. oSupported parameter observed was pH, temperature (C) and salinity (‰). Data analysis using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test. Result of  the experiment indicates that compost and NPK combinations with different doses was significantly influence to growth, chlorophyll a and water content of G. verrucosa. The highest mean of daily weight growth rates was C treatment (1 gr/l : 1gr/l) which was equal to 2,56%/day and the lowest mean was  F treatment (without fertilizer) which was equal to 1,12%/day. The highest mean of relative length growth was C treatment (1 gr/l : 1gr/l) which was equal to 2,21% and the lowest mean was F treatment (without fertilizer) which was equal to 0,60%. The highest mean of chlorophyll a by the end of the experiment was C treatment (1 gr/l : 1gr/l) which was equal to 0,001948 ìg/ml and the lowest mean was F treatment (without fertilizer) which was equal to 0,001440 ìg/ml. The lowest mean of water content by the end of the experiment was C treatment (1 gr/l : 1gr/l) which was equal to 28,48 % and the highest mean was F treatment (without fertilizer) which was equal to 30,39%. Abstract

Nanochloropsis oculata is one of kind green algae that overload in Indonesia ocean. The purpose of this research  was to know the potency antioxidant of Nannochloropsis oculata extract as in the Humback Grouper. The research was conducted by  experimently and used direct random sampling as design with 4 experiments and 3 repeats  i.e control fish, fish was  added Nannochloropsis oculata extract, Vibrio alginolyticus - infected fish, and Vibrio alginolyticus - infected fish that was added Nannochloropsis oculata extract.The result showed, fish that added by Nannchloropsis oculata extract made a different influence which was very clear to the decreasing of  free radical in the body. Free radical (malonaldehid) in the Vibrio alginolyticus -  infected fish was 4, 04 µg/100 mg which fish was added by Nannochloropsis oculata extract, the free radical level was decrease into 3, 29 µg/100 mg massa.Key words  : MDA, Nannochloropsis oculata, Vibrio alginolyticus, free radicals

Abstract

Feed is an important factor in the culture of vannamei shrimp. The optimum feed have clone to prevent underfeeding or overfeeding, whereas the amount of feed must have adjust with shrimp biomass. The aim this research is to know the percentage of optimum feed from vannamei shrimp.The method is experimental research with Complete Random Design, and the result showed that difference of percentage of feed is not significantly for daily growth of vannamei shrimp. The amount of feed as mush as 40 % of biomass weight/day showed the best daily growth (9.86 %).Key words : survival rate, growth rate, vannamei shrimp

Abstract

Spirulina platensis is the one kinds of live feed which it is as food in hatcheries and as material of healthy supplement. The stability of S. platensis production can supporting with nutrient supply. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of addition FeCl to S. platensis population and biomass growth and FeCl3 dosages at culture 3media were could give the highest S. platensis population growth. Experimental design used Completely Randomized Design and continued by Duncans Multiple Range Test. S. platensis experiment treatment were cultured by using glass bottle volume 500 mL. Culture media used 0,5 ppm dried blotong and 10 ìg/L vitamin B. 12Dosages of the experiment are A (9 ìM FeCl), B (10 ìM FeCl), C (11 ìM FeCl), D (12 ìM FeCl), E (13 ìM 3333FeCl), F (14 ìM FeCl),  G (15 ìM FeCl) and H (non FeCl). The result of the research shows that addition FeCl in 33333culture media could increasing S. platensis population and biomass growth. The addition 12 ìM FeCl in culture 3media could increasing the highest population of  S. platensis as much 46873,69 unit/ml with 1,22 g/L biomas at sixth day.Key words : Spirulina platensis, FeCl, vitamin B, dry blotong
