Abstract

The purpose of this research is to get better understanding about the implementation process of Tri-Nga to instill a sense of Nobel Character in Civic Education subject and student activities in implementing Tri-Nga to instill a sense of nobel character in Civic Education class. This is a type of qualitative research. The data of this study are gained from the activities of students who attend civic education class, which is implicitly delivering nobel character value. The instrument in this study is the research itself, which is supported by the interview guidelines, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research refers to data analysis technique developed By Moleong. Data validity checking used is the degree of trust (credibility). The result of data analysis showed that the students have implemented nobel character by applying Tri-Nga theory in a good way. The development of nobel character was implemented in the Civic education class through cognitive moral approach, instillation a sense of value approach, and value clarification approach. Students’ activities in Tri-Nga implementation on Civic education class in which the students are aware of knowing it, realizing it and believing in it, would carried out the following moral values: 1). Possessing and developing tolerance, 2). Growing the self-discipline, 3). Developing work ethic, 4). Having a sense of responsibility, 5). Having a sense of being open to others, 6). Being able to think positively, 7). Developing self-potention, 8). Having togetherness and mutual cooperation, 9). Having mutual respect, and 10). Growing honesty.

Abstract

Living Values Education Program (LVEP) is one of the educational programs, which can facilitate the students to explore and develop the twelve universal values, which are cooperation, freedom, happiness, honesty, humility, love, peace, respect, responsibility, simplicity, tolerance, and unity. This research aims to know the influence of LVEP towards character building on the 3rd grade students in elementary school, within the topic of nationalism on the thematic learning. This type of research is quasi experiment design by utilizing pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research is the 3rd graders of SD Negeri Pujokusuman academic year of 2017/2018. The selected sample was 3rd graders A, B, and C chosen by using cluster random sampling techniques. 3rd graders in class B as the control group, while 3rd graders in class A and C as group experiments. The control group was given preferential treatment by using the method of storytelling, while the experimental groups were given a treatment using the LVEP. Data collection techniques used is observation and interview. The guidelines for observation is conducted to know whether the students show/perform character nationalism before treatment (pretest), during treatment, and after treatment (posttest). The interview guidelines are used to support the observation, which cover up character of students, learning model character, and implementation of learning before they are treated with certain experiment. The data analysis techniques used was t-test with the level of significance 0,05. The research results show that there are significant impacts during nationalistic character building by implementing Living Values Education Program (LVEP), which is done through storytelling method in thematic learning for 3rd graders of SD Negeri Pujokusuman. Distinction appears vividly in all sub nationalistic character, which is observed during the learning process, namely responsibility, tolerance, cooperation, unity, love, respect, and peace.

Abstract

This study aims to improve problem-solving skills in Basic Mathematics courses through Problem Posing approach. This research is a Classroom Action Research. The subject of the research is the 2nd semester student of PGSD at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST). The research instruments are observation sheets, pretest and posttest. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistic technique by determining mean, median, mode, lowest score, highest score, and completeness of individual and classical study presented in the percentage form. The result of this research shows that Problem Posing approach can increase the problem solving ability of 2E PGSD students. This can be seen from the increase of the pre cycle stage which shows the problem solving ability of the students which is formerly in 45 % has increase in the first cycle reaching 52,72 % and the second cycle there is also a significant increase of 84 %. This increasing number indicates that the implementation of class action research is successful. According to the result of the research, the implications that can be contributed for the public benefits is this study provides an overview of the student problem solving skills improvement by the time they finish applying the problem posing approach. This learning provides students the opportunity to learn independently and improve their creativity.

Abstract

IPS learning process that occurs at SDN II Kemloko 2nd grade class has not been achieved its satisfactory. This is due to the way the teachers teach which is still in mediocre level, in a way of providing the students with interesting learning method and interesting models that may make students happy to follow the learning activities. By the result, the students’ learning outcomes for the 2nd grade class at SDN II Kemloko still below the pre-determined score, commonly known as KKM. In order to make this condition better, the researchers are triggered to conduct a research by implementing a Class Action Research (PTK), by referring to a research model raised by Thursday and Mc. Taggart. That research model proposes 4 important stages, which are (1) preparation / planning, (2) implementation of the action, (3) observation / observation, (4) reflection. In this classroom action research, the researchers implement a learning model, which is Make a Match. Afterwards, the result shows that the 2nd grade students can experience learning outcome. It turned out that after using this model of Make a Match, there is a significant improvement. The results obtained from cycle 1 portraying a number of 17 students shows that there are 9 students who successfully accomplish the task, which is equivalent with 52.94%, and the rest of the students, which are 8 students, are not able to accomplish the task, equivalent with 47.06%. Further, the second cycle presents that the students who pass the results are 10 students with a percentage of 58.82%, while the unaccomplished ones are 7 students with a percentage of 41.18%. According to the results, the result shows that the accomplished number of students is above the average. It is strongly suggested that others may implement the learning model of Make a Match, particularly teachers.

Abstract

The current government policy provides the widest possible opportunity for teachers to demonstrate their competence for the embodied superior work through improved learning outcomes and positive behaviors of learners. Teachers play an important role in realizing innovative, creative, effective schools. This continuous academic supervision can improve teachers’ competence in the preparation of syllabus and lesson implementation plan in primary school Gambiran UPT Eastern TK / SD. It can be proven from the results of the same score both in the first cycle and the second cycle. Percentage mastery of teachers in the preparation of syllabus and RPP in the first cycle shows the number of 55%, and in the second cycle of 85%. Thus there is a vivid increase in mastery from the first cycle to the second cycle.

Abstract

The world development of the 21st century is marked by the progress and the demands of technologies, which may lead to regression. Life in the 21st century demands a person to master a range of skills. One of the important skills in the 21st century is critical thinking skill. This study focuses on the definition, importance, challenges in developing indicators and assessment of critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skill is the ability to think logically, reflectively, productively and systematically appeared in making consideration and making the best decision. Critical thinking skills are beneficial in improving the analysis skill, creativity, ability to make use of ideas or information, and looking for information skill as well as self-reflection. Learning can do the development of learners’ critical thinking skills. An important indicator in the critical thinking skills is interpreting which about an ability dealing with studying or analyzing, identifying the relevant or irrelevant sources, identifying and evaluating the assumptions, implementing various strategies to make the appropriate decisions, summarizing and regulating themselves.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the character education contained in a children’s story entitled Small So Comrade, Big So Opponent. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The object in this study is a children’s story entitled Small So Comrade, Big So Opponent written by Tri Isyanti and Siti Andari. The research data was collected through reading and taking notes techniques. The data analysis in this research is conducted by implementing pragmatic approach. The steps conducted are identifying, reviewing, interpreting, and describing the parts of the children’s story that can be utilized as the form of character education. The results of this research as it is depicted in the children’s story entitled Small So Comrade, Big So Opponent written by Tri Isyanti and Siti Andari portray that there is a character education value in terms of mitigating disaster. The children's storybook is set for 3rd grade of elementary school students who have environmental and social concerns towards flood disaster, just in case someday it strikes their place of being. There are five character educations depicted in the children's story which are environmental caring; social caring; generosity, being helpful and cooperative; respect and courtesy; and curiosity.

Abstract

The demand of KKNI curriculum in the 21st century is about the equality of learning achievement covering attitudes and values, work ability, scientific mastery, authority and responsibility. For that, PGSD graduates of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST) Yogyakarta are expected to be able to design the learning activities, which is in line with the development of science, and technology, which is on the same time, are able to bring Indonesian cultural value into it. The graduates’ competence are presented in their abilities to develop elementary school learning activities based on the Science Environment Technology and Society (SETS) and integrate local wisdom into it. The purpose of this research is to describe the skills of critical thinking of PGSD students in developing SETS-based learning integrated with local wisdom and also along with the indicators that appear in each skill aspect. This is a type of quantitative descriptive research with non-test data collection techniques, observation, and documentation. While the main instruments are in the form of Student Worksheet (LKM), the observation sheet towards the indicators of critical thinking skills. Data analysis techniques is done by using descriptive statistics interpretation through several answering criteria: very good, good, fair, poor, and very poor which is then the results are presented in the form of tables. The results showed that the average critical thinking ability of PGSD UST students was 69.24% with can be categorized in good criteria. Indicator of every critical thinking skills aspect has appeared, even though some targets of achievements have not been optimally gained yet.
