Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the effectiveness of Think Pair Share models in learning, (2) the effectiveness of Student Team Achievement Divisions models in learning, and (3) the comparisonof Think Pair Share and Student Team Achievement Divisions models effectiveness on mathematics learning in the sixth-grade students of public elementary schools in Soppeng Regency. This research is a quasi-experimental research. The population in this study was all sixth-grade students of public elementary schools in Soppeng Regency and the samples were determined by cluster stratified random sampling technique. The data collected comprises student learning outcomes data, students‚?? activity data in learning, and students‚?? response data on learning media. Students‚?? activity data and students‚?? responses were analyzed using descriptive analysis while students‚?? learning outcomes data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The results of the t-test with a significant level 5 = 0.05 in the major hypothesis (1) the implementation of the effective Think Pair Share models, (2) the application of the Student Team Achievement Divisions model, and the major (3) for (a) student learning outcomes (posttest, gain) (b) students‚?? activity in learning (c) student response, shows that the application of Think Pair Share models is more effective than Student Team Achievement Divisions in the mathematics learning of the sixth-grade students of Public Elementary Schools in Soppeng District.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the influence of the storytelling method towards the third-grade students‚?? character in doing cooperation in Pujokusuman Yogyakarta Elementary School. The research is research quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent-group pretest-posttest research design. The subject of the study is the students of class III B and III C Pujokusuman Yogyakarta Elementary School consisted of 49 students. Class III B isconsisted of 24 students and it becomes the class control, while class III C is consisted of 25 students and it becomes the class experiment. The researchers utilized observation sheet as the research instrument. The data analyzing technique was conducted through the first independent sample t-test with the significance 5 % (alpha = 0,05). This research result indicates that storytelling method is significant in increasing the third-grade students‚?? character in doing cooperation in Pujokusuman Yogyakarta Elementary School. This is proven by the t-test resulted 0,00 < 0,05; so H0 is rejected, it means that there is a significant difference between the average observation result of the students‚?? character in doing cooperation in the two classes: class control and class experiment. From the research result, it can be concluded that storytelling method enhances the third-grade students‚?? character value in doing cooperation in Pujokusuman Yogyakarta Elementary School.

Abstract

This research is conducted due to by the ongoing occurrence of the studentsí low conceptual understanding in the mathematical fraction. The students perceived that mathematical fraction is difficult to understand because the use of learning models is not appropriate in the learning process. This study aims to improve the conceptual understanding of class III students through the application of the Kumon model. The method used in this study is a Class Action Research method by adopting the Kemmis Mc Taggart Model. This research was carried out in three cycles including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 21 students in the third-grade consisting of 17 men and 4women. The researchers employed formative test in each cycle and conducted observation towards the teacher and the students as the data collection technique. The results of the average completeness of student learning through formative tests in cycle I was 69.62 (48%), cycle II was 77.71 (71%), and cycle III was 84.67 (100%). The results of the observation on teacher in each cycle were cycle I was 2.7 (enough), cycle II was 3.2 (good) and cycle III was 4.4 (very good). The results of the observation on students in each cycle were cycle I was 2.6 (enough), cycle II was 3.0 (good) and cycle III was 3.9 (very good). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Kumon model can improve the conceptual understanding of third-grade students of Majalengka Kulon VII Elementary School, academic year of 2016/2017, in Majalengka District, Majalengka Regency.

Abstract

The right view of inclusive education is very influential on the success of the implementation of inclusive education, starting from the policies applied, routines that will bring up a culture of acceptance of diversity and the implementation of classroom learning. The principal becomes the agent of change and as the main key in the development, initiator of innovation and decision making on the implementation of inclusive education until the realization of the success of the implementation practices in school. The purpose of this study is to explain the principals view of inclusive education in Yogyakarta Elementary School. Questionnaires were distributed to 25 principals in elementary schools in five districts in Yogyakarta Special Region. The results showed that the majority of principals in SD DIY have a narrow view of inclusive education, which is still limited to the acceptance of children with special needs, but the majority of principals agree and are open that children with special needs for school and study together with other children in the classroom regular / general.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the learning plan of the physical education in inclusive elementary schools, find out the learning process and identify physical education learning strategies in inclusive elementary schools in Yogyakarta city. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques in this study employed direct field observation techniques during the learning process of Physical Education, direct interview towards theteachers of physical education and mentoring teachers, and documentation by collecting various images or data that support this research. The study was conducted in 3 elementary schools: 1) Taman Muda Ibu Pawiyatan, 2) SD Negeri Baciro and 3) SD Negeri Pakel. Data were collected through the techniques of direct observation, interviews, and documentation so that they can yield overview and conclusion regarding to the learning strategies. The results of the research showed that in the planning of physical learning, there should be more serious and better preparation regarding to the syllabus, lesson plans and assessment. In the process of learning physical education, the research result showed that some students with special needs for athletic sports, especially running subject does not need significant adjustment, however blind students and deaf students felt that they need some adjustment in the running subject. There are a number of physical learning strategies for students with special needs including the use of appropriate language, making task sequences, allocation of time for learning, modification of the games/ sports rules and learning environments.

Abstract

The process of studentsí character instillation was carried out in Masehi Temanggung elementary school to establish ethics, character and moral attitudes that can be used by the students as the role models in their environment. The characters that are intended to be established in Masehi Temanggung elementary school is the studentsí character that is naturally established, in a sense that the change of the studentsí behavior is due to their self-motivation based on what they do everyday; and not just merely due to the school obligation. The researchers employed qualitative approach method by observing thoroughly the studentsí behavior occurred in the school setting. It is expected that the results from the direct observations will be able to portray the reality hidden in that situation. The evaluation method is used to analyze the information that is relevant to the studentsí behavior at school and the next stage is classifying those data into two categories: first category is the studentsí behavior that needs to be supervised and the second category is the studentsí behavior that deserve the reward. In conclusion, making it as their habits can do the process of studentsí character instillation. The studentsí habits of good deeds are also carried out through games, for example by playing traditional games and toys (dolanan). There is a moral value implied in the traditional games and toys that is good to support the studentsí character instillation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the relationship of emotional intelligence could affect the achievement of the mathematics learning of fourth graders in SD Negeri Kutabumi IV Tangerang District. This research is a type of survey research with correlation technique. Samples studied were 34 respondents who are thestudents of grade IV-C at SD Negeri Kutabumi IV Tangerang District. The data of emotional intelligence (X) was obtained through a questionnaire consisting of 26 items and the data of mathematics learning achievement (Y) collected through the score recorded from the UAS (Final Exam) grades. The results of this study showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the learning achievement of Mathematics with a correlation of 0,580 and with the regression equation √Ě = 4,55 + 0,74X and the coefficient of determination of 0,3364 which means that emotional intelligence has a contribution of 33,64% towards the achievement of the mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims at studying the national examination conducted by ‚??Phytagoras‚?Ě Mathematics Course. This research is a descriptive study conducted to test the national examination of elementary school, specifically in its mathematics subject. The data used in this research is the results of Indonesian national exam simulation test conducted by ‚??Phytagoras‚?Ě mathematics course in 2017. The data of this study are obtained from 919 sixth-grade students who had accomplished mathematical tutoring in ‚??Phytagoras‚?Ě mathematics course. The results of the data analysis showed that there are 5 out of 40 mathematical test items that need to be evaluated due to its level of difficulty. Those five items are suggested to be reformatted and revised for the improvements of the next national exam simulation test.

Abstract

The development in the digital era also accompanies the development in the world of education. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum requires careful planning to produce quality output. This planning begins with preparing prota, promes, RPP. This study aims† to analyze thematic learning planning based on local wisdom, to describe the supporting and inhibiting factors and to describe the effort done by the school to overcome the problem. This research uses qualitative descriptive research conducted at SD Muhammadiyah I Malang, data collection techniques used, among others, observation, interview and documentation. And the results of this research shows that teachers at SD Muhammadiyah I Malang have implemented a local wisdom-based learning plan before teaching and learning activities begin. Supporting factors of quality human resources, and adequate infrastructure facilities. While the inhibiting factor is the implementation of local wisdom learning for the activities of the visit takes a long time. To overcome these problems the school provides facilities for teachers to attend seminars, training and workshop.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehend the implementation of character education with a comprehensive approach at Taman MudaJetis Elementary School Yogyakarta, to find out the obstacles in the implementation of character education with a comprehensive approach at Taman MudaJetis Elementary School Yogyakarta, and to know the solution to solve the obstacles in the implementation of character education with comprehensive approach at SD Taman MudaJetis Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative method. The data collecting technique uses in-depth interviewand direct observation. The steps of data analysis utilize Miles and Huberman model, which are data presentation, data reduction, and confirmation, while validity test data includes internal validity test, external validity, reliability, and objectivity.The results of this study indicate that character education applied in schools is not taught in the form of special subjects but integrated into all lessons with a comprehensive approach that includes inclusion, modelling, value facilitation, and soft skill development. The obstacles in the implementation of character education are the misused of the advancement of science and technology by learners, family and society factors and environment that does not support the learning, low teacher competence especially new teachers in implementing character values. The strategy to break the barriers in implementing character education is to form qualified and professional teachers by including teachers in professional training at local and national levels and increasing synergies between schools, families and communities.
