Abstract

The Jambi University Physics Education Study Program has developed a Basic Physics II practicum guidelines based on science process skills that valid and reliable. However, there has not been a large scale implementation to determine the effectiveness of the guidelines. The purpose of this study was to determine the mastery of student science process skills after using the Basic Physics II practicum guidelines based on science process skills on refraction subject mater. This research is a quantitative research type of pre-experimental design with the One-Shot Case Study. The research sample was the Physics Education second year students of Jambi University, amounting to 87 people. Data collection is done by observing using observation sheets about science process skills. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that students were very good at mastering science process skills after using practicum guidelines based on science process skills. Percentage of mastery of science process skills for refraction practicum on parallel plan glass including: observation 64.84%; experimental planning: 64.84%; prediction 61.54%; conducting experiment 53.85%; measuring 49.45% and variabel identification 28.57%. On average, students were very good at mastering science process skills in refraction practicums in prisms with their respective percentages: planning experiments 61.54%; prediction 58.24%; observation 48.35%; conducting experiment 45.05%; measuring 39.56% and identifying variables 32.97%.

Abstract

Science process skills is important to developing the quality of students’ learning in science. This research aimed to determine the effect of generative learning xmodel on students' science process skills of the topic Light. This type of research was pre-exprimental with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population of this research consisted of all students of class VIII in SMPN 5 Singkawang City. The research samples consisted of the students of class VIII E the total number of 20 students and the sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The research instrument used in this research was description test. Data were analyzed by using paired t-test. From the calculation results was obtained the value of -tobtained < -tcritical or -21.36 < -2.093, then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted at the level of significance α = 0.05. So it can be concluded that there was an effect of generative learning model on students’ science process skills in the topic of Light.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the ability of vocational students in understanding the concept of Rotational Dynamics. This study used qualitative methods with 10 respondents consisting of high, medium and low categories. Instruments in this study used essay test with 6 questions and interview. The results of this study showed that students' conceptual understanding in rotational dynamics was low. Students were still having difficulties in understanding the concept of Rotational Dynamics, namely in determining angular velocity, inertia moment equation, and solving equations. Then it is better to understand the concept needs to be applied in the learning process. So it can be concluded that conceptual understanding approach needs to be applied in the learning process.

Abstract

This research is experimental research. The research aims to analyze the absorbance and wavelength values on the certain color spectrum based on the age of noni leaf sample. Variation in absorption and wavelength occurs in the red spectrum ranges between 650 to 700 nm. Maximum absorption occurs in the middle of noni leaf followed by the tip of noni leaf sample but the yellow leaf sample results poor absorption. Chlorophyll a has main leaf pigment the most which occurs in the light reaction of photosynthesis. The maximum absorption which ranges between 3,5 to 4,0 A occurs in the blue spectrum ranges between 400 to 450 nm. Chlorophyll b absorbs photon energy in sun light. A wavelength ranges between 500 to 600 nm occurs in the green spectrum which has low absorption of three samples ranges 0,5 to 1,5 A. The chlorophyll reflects light of the green spectrum; therefore, it causes low absorption.

Abstract

This research was conducted for improve students' integrated science process skills such as aspects of interpreting data, formulating hypotheses, planning experiments, and applying concepts through the CLIS learning model. This quantitative research with pre-experimental design uses the one group pre-test post-test design research design. The subjects in this study consisted of 27 students in one of the SMA Negeri on Singkawang City with the sampling technique in the form of a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique in this study is tests of integrated science process skills that consists of 10 question multiple choice with five reasoned choices previously tested try with a reliability of 0.47 in the sufficient category. The increase in KPS analyzed by N-gain of 0.67 is in the medium category. It can be concluded that the application of CLIS learning model successfully enriching knowledges and can improve students’ integrated science process skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to produce a physics laboratory manual characteristic of a single, series, parallel and series-parallel series of resistors; found out the quality of the physics laboratory manual characteristics of a single, series, parallel and series-parallel series of resistors. This research is a research development. Data collection in this study used suggestion and input sheets, quality assessment sheets for laboratory manual and student response sheets. Laboratory manual quality data obtained from three assessors, student response data for the limited trial I involving six students, and limited trial II involving 28 students. The physics laboratory manual characteristics of a single, series, parallel and series-parallel circuit of resistors have been produced with the criteria of "very eligible" based on final validation by media expert with a percentage of 97% and declared "very eligible" based on final validation by material expert with a percentage amounting to 83.90% and stated to be "very eligible" based on the final assessment by lecturer of electromagnetics courses with a percentage of 80%. This physics laboratory manual received a "very good" response from students with a percentage reaching 82% in limited trial I and received a "very good" response with a percentage of 82.60% in limited trial.

Abstract

Physics learning needs to be given by giving problems so that students can gain experience from their thinking abilities. Student's mindset will be more focused if they are able to think critically. The purpose of this study was to develop problem-based teaching material to improve informatics engineering students' critical thinking skills. With this teaching material development, students are expected to be able to maximize their thinking skills. This study used development research design that aimed to produce a problem-based physics teaching material. The trial subjects for this teaching materials were 3 lecturers and 12 informatics engineering students from University of PGRI Madiun. From this study, quantitative and qualitative data were obtained. The obtained data from the assessment of lecturers and students will be analyzed by average analysis technique. From the average value obtained, the feasibility level of problem-based teaching material will be determined. Based on the results of the analysis, the average value of 3.33 with good category were obtained. Furthermore, the results of this teaching materials development can be used in the implementation test. Teaching materials were needed by students to gain direct experience in learning physics.

Abstract

Students’ shortcoming in understanding various concepts of physics is often due to the lack of teaching media can promote student active participation in the learning process. This study aims to develop a valid and effective microcontroller-based physics learning materials as teaching media in enhancing conceptual understanding of free fall motion lessons. This learning materials is developed using the research and development (R&D) method. Effectiveness test of learning materials using pre-experimental research design one group pretest-posttest involve students of physics education program in STKIP SoE. Data collection techniques were done through validation sheets, observations, test questions, and questionnaire sheets. Validation of learning materials through expert testing shows that learning materials are in a valid category. The results of the study shows that learning materials have a positive effect in improving students' conceptual understanding. The effectiveness of the use of learning materials in improving students' understanding of concepts has been analyzed through the results of N-gain calculations which show a moderate score increase. Moreover, the practicality test of learning materials using a Likert scale shows that learning materials are very practical to utilize as teaching media.
