Abstract

Application of Guided Inquiry Learning Model to Improve Student Competency in Biology Learning at SMAN 2 XIII Koto Kampar. The classroom action research was motivated by the low competence of students in aspects of attitudes, knowledge and skills. The purpose of this study was to determine improving student competence of grouping plant in class X IPA 2 SMAN 2 XIII Koto Kampar through the application of guided inquiry learning model. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This study begins with a pre cycle before the cycle I. Subjects were 26 students of SMAN 2 X IPA 2 class XIII Koto Kampar. Data obtained using the competency attitude instrument observation sheet of religious and social attitudes, including: faithful, honest, discipline, cooperation, tolerance and mutual cooperation. A knowledge data was collected with quiz and test questions at the end of the cycle.† The skills data was collected with observation sheets of practices and product. The results showed an increase in the competence of the students after the applied application of guided inquiry learning model. An increase in the average value of attitude competence of the first cycle of 3.15 and the second cycle of 3.49. The competence of knowledge showed an increase from the first cycle of students who pass as many as 22 people (84.62%) in the second cycle students who pass as many as 24 people (92.31%), while competence of skills to practice skills in the first cycle of 3.16, and the second cycle of 3.30. And then, product skills in the first cycle of 3.04 increased in the second cycle of 3.30.Keywords: Grouping Plants, Guided Inquiry, Student Competence

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the lesson study learning process. The application of lesson study is in the form of a cycle of planning, implementation, and reflection. This research method is research in the form of class action (action research) which consists of two cycles. Data retrieval is done by observation sheet to the model teacher in carrying out biology learning activities, interviews and questionnaires. Furthermore, the data analysis technique in the complete study uses three simultaneous activities, namely; (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation and (3) inference and verification of data. The results of this study consisted of two cycles: (1) Cycle I of the application of lesson study learning stages was categorized good with a value of 81.66%; (2) Cycle II is the advanced stage of the results of weaknesses and shortcomings in the first cycle, at this stage the lesson study learning application is categorized good with a value of 89.58%. Then it can be concluded that the lesson study learning application can improve teacher professional competence, and make the learning atmosphere active and creative, so students are enthusiastic to learn.

Abstract

Abstract: This study is a research and development, which aims to produce instructional media, based MindManager that valid, practical and effective. The subjects were eighth grade students of SMP 27 Makassar by the number of students 39 people. This study uses the research and development according to Borg and Gall. Data collection techniques used in this research is the data on validation results obtained from the validation instrument sheet filled out by the valuator, the data for practicality level obtained from questionnaires that filled out by the valuator and practitioners, the data for effectiveness obtained from questionnaire of students' responses and mastery of student learning outcomes by intructional media based on MindManager. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using the criteria of validity, practicality and effectiveness by Hobri. The research results of development instructional media based on MindManager shows that the total value of the validation results by valuator are 4.42 and included in the valid category. The average level of practicality by valuator questionnaire was 91.33% and 90.66% by practitioners. The effectiveness of the media based on the student response was 96.6% gave a positive response and mastery of learning outcomes is 89.7% of the subjects achieved a minimum level of mastery of the material. Based on these results it can be concluded that the instructional media based MindManager developed by validity, practicality and effectiveness criteria.

Abstract

The research was conducted aimed at knowing the effect of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques influencing critical thinking skills and metacognitive knowledge of junior high school students. The sample of this study was class IX in SMP Negeri 1 Ronggur Nihuta which was taken by random sampling with the number of students 62. The instrument of this research was a test. This research method is descriptive and data analysis techniques using the t test with a significance level ? = 0.05. The results showed that the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques had an effect on students' critical thinking skills (tcount 90.66> t table 2.039); (2) There is the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with the Mind Mapping technique affecting the metacognitive knowledge of students (t count 40.68> t table 2.039). The results of this study imply that the level of critical thinking skills, metacognitive knowledge has an important role in improving the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Abstract

Biochemistry practice is a basic practicum that must be mastered by biology education students. Skills in biochemistry practicums are the basis used in practicum physiology, genetics, microbiology, and other materials in biology. This study aims to analyze psychomotor skills achieved by students in biochemical practicums and examine the relationship between cognitive learning outcomes and psychomotor learning outcomes of biology education students in biochemical practicums, especially in the experimental material for making solutions and measuring pH. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a sample of 40 biology education students. Learning outcomes data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis, and the correlation between psychomotor and cognitive learning outcomes was analyzed using Pearson Correlation analysis at ? = 0.01. The results showed that psychomotor skills that were mastered by students in biochemistry practicum (making solutions and pH measurements) included levels 1-4, with an achievement percentage of 89.19% at level perception; 97.30% at the level set; 51.62% at the guided response level and 72.97% at the mechanism level, with psychomotor learning outcomes averaging 58 (sufficient category). The cognitive value of students in the experimental for making solutions and pH measurements was 63.32 (good category). There is a positive correlation between psychomotor and cognitive learning outcomes of students in biochemistry practicum (r = 0.67) with a strong correlation category.

Abstract

The problem faced in this study is the low science learning outcomes in material related to chemistry. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the Laboratory Inquiry learning model on acid, alkaline, and salt material in class VII of SMP 1 Percut Sei Tuan Tahun. Action research was conducted in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan with a total of 32 students. The research took place in 2 cycles by expressing four stages in each cycle, namely: the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Analysis of research data in the form of quantitative and qualitative data which is the student learning outcomes (pre-test and post-test) and the results of observations of students' skills utilizing percentage, namely by calculating the increase in student mastery learning individually. The results of the first cycle test, there were 17 students (53.13%) had achieved mastery learning while 15 students (46.87%) had not achieved mastery learning. After it was found that there was an increase, it continued to give action in the second cycle. Then the results of the second cycle test were found to have a substantial increase in the number of students completing, namely from 32 students. It turned out that 28 students (87.50%) had achieved mastery learning, only four students (12.50%) had not reached completeness in learning. Students' skills in conducting practicum have increased significantly. Based on the results of the first cycle test and the second cycle test, it can be concluded that the Laboratory Inquiry Learning Model on Acid, Base, and Salt material can improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of students' literacy skills in one of the private high schools in Karanganyar. This study uses a survey method. The study population was all high school students of class X, XI, and XII MIA. The sampling technique uses stratified proportional random sampling with a total sample of 45 students. Science literacy skills are measured using the 2015 Program for International Student (PISA) test with indicators developed by Gormally. The results showed that in general, the average value of students' scientific literacy skills was 52.22% in the deficient category. The results of each indicator of scientific literacy skills are as follows: (1) scientific opinion identification skills of 55.56% in the low category, (2) effective literature search of 48.89% in the very low category, (3) understanding the research design elements amounted to 37.78% in the very low category, (4) charted 57.78% in the low category, (5) solved the problem with quantitative skills of 53.33% in the very low category, (6) interpreted the statistics the base is 60.00% in the medium category, (7) inference, prediction and conclusion drawing 62.23% in the medium category.

Abstract

The research aims to know the argumentation skill profile and the difference of students' argumentation skill between 10th MS (Match and Science) and 11th MS in Batik 1 Senior High School of Surakarta on Biodiversity material. The type of research is descriptive quantitative using survey method. Population research is all students or 400 students of class 10th and 11th MS in SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Sampling technique using stratified proportional random sampling. The instrument to measure the skills of the user is using essay handbooks. Analysis of argumentability was using Toulmin's Argumentation Pattern (TAP). The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive. The results showed the quality of the students' argumentation in one of the Private High School Surakarta in sufficient category. Percentage of achievement of each indicator is 68% claim, 60% warrant, 53% data, 45% s backing and 0% rebuttal. The result of t-test got sig. (2-tailed) about 0.002. therefore we can conclude that argumentation skill of 10th and 11th MS in SMA Batik 1 Surakarta have significant differences of class X and XI argumentation skill shows a significant differences, although the argumentation skill quality of both cluster class is enough.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the essay form validation test for student learning outcomes tests using problem-based plant tissue culture learning videos. The method used in this study is included in the development research to develop test questions on student learning outcomes by using problem-based plant tissue culture learning video products. The stages of the activities carried out are: (1) Research and Information colletion (research and data collection), (2) Planning (planning), (3) Develop Preliminary form of Product (development of the initial product draft), (4) Preliminary Field Testing ( initial field trials), (5) Main Product Revision (revised trial results), (6) Main Field Testing (main product field test), and (7) Operational Product Revision (product revision). From this study, the results show that where valid questions in cycle I are 10 questions, while in cycle II there are 11 valid questions. The first and second cycle test reliability is very high. Based on the calculation results of the above test differentiation in cycle I there are 7 excellent questions, 1 good question, 2 enough questions, while in cycle II there are 6 very good questions, 3 questions which are good, 1 problem is enough, and 1 problem is bad. Based on the index of difficulty in cycle I there are 10 questions that are easy, while in cycle II there are 10 questions that are easy and there is one problem in the medium category.

Abstract

Learning innovation in Higher Education with a scientific approach based learning has been integrated with Information and Communication Technology. This encourages students to solve problems in accordance with the real conditions in the surrounding environment. In addition, it can create self-reliance and learning motivation for students to learn science without any time and place limitation. This study aims to implement scientific approach based learning through the Problem Based Learning model based on Blended Learning in Animal Ecology subjects. This research method is Quasi Experimental Design with Non Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design in Experimental groups through combined Problem Based Learning. Blended Learning. The sample of this research is Biology Education students of FKIP Universitas Samudra. The research instrument used cognitive tests in the form of Essay questions and ARCS motivation questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis by testing Validity and Reliability. Hypothesis testing with the prerequisite test for data normality and paired t sample t test. The results of the study obtained the value of t arithmetic = 13.61 or with Sig (2-tailed) (0.00) ? ? (0.05) thus Ha was accepted that the significant cognitive learning outcomes of students occurred through learning Blended Learning-based Problem Based Learning. Student learning motivation is categorized into three: very high, high, and medium. The percentage of students in the three categories is 30%, 63.33%, and 7% respectively.
