Abstract

Poetry as a literature work which is a manifestation of human culture that is full of life value, so it is very relevant for character building. The aim of this research is to describe character value and how to implemented on literature study at school of poetry “Bulan Ruwah” from Subagio Sastrowardoyo. This qualitative research applies the description method and using content analyisis. The data of this research is Subagio Sastrowardoyo’s poetry “Bulan Ruwah”. The data analysis techique was referenced technique and recorded technique, using stylistic approach. It is found that there are three values of characters in the poetry “Bulan Ruwah”.

Abstract

This experimental research aims to find out whether or not: 1) the probing-prompting learning model affects learning achievement, 2) the self-efficafy affects learning achievement, and 3) the model affects the interaction between the learning model and student’s self-efficacy on learning outcomes. The population in this study were all third grade students of Christian Elementary School Eben Haezer Salatiga as many as 72 students. The sampling technique used Cluster Random Sampling and obtained by grade IIIA students as experimental class used probing-prompting learning model and class IIIC as control class using conventional learning model, with each consists of 24 students. Both models are used in science learning on natural resource materials. The instuments used were the test of science learning achievement and questionnaire about student self-efficacy. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential analysis consisting of normality test, homogenity test with Levenes, early equilibrium test with independent sample t test, and hypothesis test with Anava. The whole test was performed with SPSS calculation tool at 0.05 significance level. The results of the hypothesis testing concluded: 1) there was no effect of probing prompting learning model on students learning achievements; 2) there was an effect of self-efficacy to the learning achievements; the result of student learning with high self-efficacy category is better (higher) than the moderate and low self-efficacy, and student’s learning result with moderate self-efficacy category was better than the ones with low self-efficacy; 3) There was no effect on interaction between the learning model and self-efficacy on student science learning outcomes.

Abstract

Adanya perbedaan latar belakang budaya, status sosial, dan agama berpengaruh terhadap sistem bekerjasama, sikap sosial, dan cara berteman siswa di sekolah. Upaya menyelaraskan dan menyatukan keberagaman siswa maka pembelajaran di sekolah saat ini diintegrasikan dengan pendidikan multikultural. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan keefektifan penerapan pendidikan multikultural berbantuan metode pictorial riddle dapat meningkatkan nilai karakter kreatif dan bersahabat/komunikatif. Pada penelitian ini penerapan pendidikan multikultural diintegrasikan pada pembelajaran tematik IPA dan IPS kelas 3 SD semester 2. Penelitian ini menggunakan prosedur Research and Development (R&D) yang diadaptasi dari Sugiyono (2009). Penelitian yang telah dilakukan memperoleh hasil bahwa pendidikan multikultural berbantuan metode pictorial riddle dapat meningkatkan nilai karakter kreatif dan bersahabat/komunikatif. Peningkatan nilai karakter kreatif pada kelas eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan dari skor pretes 69 meningkat pada postest menjadi 85, uji gain skor 0,53 dengan kriteria sedang. peningkatan nilai bersahabat/komunikatif pada kelas eskperimen hasil pretest adalah 70 meningkat menjadi 80 pada postest, uji gain dengan skor 0,31 dengan kriteria sedang.

Abstract

Education can not be separated from two main factors; teacher and student. In the absence of either of these two factors, it is essentially not education. In Indonesia, education is still far from what is expected. This can be seen from the fact that there are difficulties of the graduates achieving decent work result in accordance with the level of education they are in. One of the causes of the low quality of education in Indonesia is because the competence of teachers as educators is still considered low when compared with the standards that have been prepared. This article will discuss the influence of teacher competence on student competence, especially in Mathematics learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine: (1) the difference of the science process skills of students learning using group workshop method with students using the discussion method; (2) differences in the condition above, after the ability of creative thinking covariable is controlled; and (3) the contribution of creative thinking covariable towards the science process skills of students. This experimental research used the post-test only control group design, with the population of 210 students of grade XI SMA Negeri 7 Kota Kupang. The total samples were 140 students, distributed in 2 experimental classes and 2 control classes. The data was collected by observing the science process skills using creative thinking skill test. The data were analyzed in descriptive and inferential statistics using one-way covariance analysis (Anacova). The result indicated that: (1) there was a significant difference of science process skills between the students learning using the group workshop method with students learning using the discussion method with an F value of 50,964; p ≤ 0.05.; (2) Having controlled the student’s creative thinking ability, there was a significant difference between student’s science process skills among students who enrolled in group workshop method with the students enrolled in the discussion method; where F=17.822; p ≤ 0,05. (3) Creative thinking ability contributed to the science process skills with the coefficient of determination equals to r2=(0,430)2 = 0,185 or 18,5%. The results indicate that the application of group workshop methods has positive effect on improving students science process skills and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The workshop was organized by West Java’s Industry and Trade Service (Disperindag) in collaboration with Universitas Padjadjaran with purpose to produce new entrepreneurs. This research aims to discover the extent of the correlation between the workshop and the participants attitude toward entrepreneurship. Theory used in this research is ELM Theory by Richard E. Petty and John T. Cacioppo. This study uses quantitative method. Researcher used Random Sampling, in the population of the participants from the Batch 27 and 28, resulting 65 samples. Based on the recapitulation of the result of correlation and discussion, the result of this research showed that there was a significant correlation between the perception of workshop and the participants attitude toward entrepreneurship. The result indicates that the programs of this workshop significantly affected participant’s will to start becoming entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Teaching and learning process in the classroom tends to use the process of memorizing and using the concept in Blooms taxonomy. This study developed questions that invites students to perform high-level skill process of analyzing, evaluating, and creating, according to Blooms taxonomy, which are the indicators of HOT (Higher Order Thinking). The HOT process is derived from students experience in learning and the knowledge of each student. This qualitative descriptive research aims to obtain a description of the HOT problem-solving process in the geometry course. Subjects in this study were 50 prospective elementary school teachers. The learning process begins with the students getting the problems given by the teacher, then discussing it in groups, and providing opportunities for students to express opinions or thoughts orally. The data collection was the results of the students thinking process, problem-solving skills test, and interviews. The data analysis was done by doing data reduction, data presentation, also drawing conclusion and verification. The result showed that students experiencing high level skill process of analyzing, evaluating and creating. In the process of analyzing, the students proved the formula of the area of two-dimensional figures. In evaluating the stages, the students in the group conducted the examination, made guesses, did the experiment, and tested the allegations of what has been done. Furthermore, students were able to create and find various answers in the form of two-dimensional figures.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar Matematika siswa kelas 4 di SD Gugus Patimura dalam pembelajaran menggunakan  model Problem Based Learning dan Discavery Learning. Jenis penelitian menggunakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen soal tes yang telah dilakukan uji reliabilitas dan validitas item soalnya. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji ANCOVA menunjukkan hasil sgnifikansi/probabilitas 0,00 < 0,05, artinya H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Maknanya bahwa Problem Based Learning memberikan dampak yang lebih tinggi secara signifikan  dibandingkan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Simpulan tersebut didukung temuan rata-rata nilai menggunakan model Problem Based Learning adalah 80,24 sedangkan model Discovery Learning sebesar 71,87. Berdasarkan simpulan penelitian ini disarankan agar para guru SD menggunakan model pembelajaran  Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan transformasional dapat diterapkan dan bagaimana penerapannya di manajemen PAUD di Kecamatan Sidorejo Salatiga. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif pengambilan sample dengan menggunakan teknik Purposive. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Banyak fenomena yang peneliti temukan di beberapa taman kanak-kanak di kota Salatiga seperti contoh : banyak guru yang mengundurkan diri setiap tahunnya, kurangnya motivasi dan kesadaran akan tugasnya sebagai guru atau melakukan tugas hanya karena imbalan atau adanya hukuman, serta kurangnya kepercayaan dan kesetiaan kepada lembaga sekolah. Dengan penerapan gaya kepemimpinan transformasional ini, memberikan beberapa dampak positif yaitu, kepala sekolah menjadi teladan, mendorong kinerja bawahan, mengharmoniskan lingkungan kerja, memberdayakan karyawan, bertindak atas sistem nilai, meningkatkan kemampuannya secara terus menerus, dan memiliki kemampuan untuk menghadapi situasi yang rumit. Jadi dengan penelitian ini, penulis berharap gaya kepemimpinan transformasional ini bisa diterapkan di lembaga sekolah yang belum menggunakan gaya kepemimpinan ini, terutama lembaga anak usia dini karena hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan transformasional sangat efektif diterapkan pada manajemen PAUD. Abstract

This research aimed to improve the skill in writing a short story through paraphrasing technique of popular song using audio-visual media. This study used Classroom Action Research containing of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three stages, namely planning, implementing, and assessing. The data collection instrument was the scoring rubric of writing skill and test items. The data were analyzed using comparative descriptive analysis by comparing the result of the initial condition, the first cycle, and the second cycle. The results revealed that paraphrasing technique could: 1) improve the skill in writing short story in which the improvement percentage of the writing skill is 70% for pre-cycle, 76% for the first cycle, and 80% for the second cycle; 2) improve the percentage of the number of the students passing the minimum score as many as 52% for the pre-cycle, 74% for the first cycle, and 87% for the second cycle.
