Abstract

Banyak cara yang bisa dilakukan untuk membentuk siswa yang berkarakter, salah satunya adalah melalui karya sastra. Karya sastra, seperti novel adalah media yang paling efektif untuk mengajarkan nilai-nilai moral, nilai-nilai agama, nilai-nilai budi pekerti, dan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter. Dewasa ini, banyak novel yang sangat layak bagi siswa, khususnya siswa sekolah dasar untuk lebih mudah memahami nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter. Salah satunya adalah novel Tantri (Perempuan yang Bercerita) karya Cok Sawitri. Cok Sawitri mampu mengolahbahasan kembali cerita-cerita tradisional dan tradisi lisan Ni Diah Tantri yang sangat terkenal di Bali sejak tahun 1915 menjadi sebuah novel modern tanpa melucuti keindahan ajaran moral dan kekayaan nilai-nilai kearifan dari cerita aslinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) nilai-nilai karakter yang terkandung dalam novel Tantri (Perempuan yang Bercerita) ada 18 yaitu, nilai karakter  religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabat atau komunikatif, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, dan tanggung jawab dan (2) Novel Tantri (Perempuan yang Bercerita) sangat cocok untuk dijadikan bahan ajar sastra di sekolah dasar. Tokoh-tokoh yang didominasi oleh binatang tentunya sangat menarik bagi siswa. Nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang tertuang di dalam novel ini sangat mudah dipahami dan diterapkan nantinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Siswa sekolah dasar sebagai pondasi kuat dalam membentuk generasi muda Indonesia yang berkarakter, kuat, dan tangguh untuk menghadapi persaingan MEA (Masayarakat Ekonomi Asean). Kata kunci: nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter, novel Tantri (Perempuan yang Bercerita), dan bahan ajar sastra di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Makalah ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan  hubungan sastra, bhasa dan budaya  di era mea, (3) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan sastra dalam menumbuhkan pedidikan karakter kebangsaan di era mea. Makalah ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka atau Library Research. Penulis memanfaatkan berbagai literature untuk dijadikan pedoman dan sumber referensi. Metode studi pustaka dapat dijadikan sebagai data dan sumber data mengenai pembelajaran sastra berdasarkan bahasa dan budaya untuk meningkatkan pendidikan karakter kebangsaan di era mea. Hasil dari makalah ini bahwa sastra dan bahasa di era mea sangat dibutuhkan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berkomunikasi. Bahasa pada karya sastra dapat menambah penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa daerah. Bahasa daerah yang digunakan dalam karya sastra bagian dari pengenalan budaya. Di era mea komunikasi dapat berupa hubungan antarbangsa melalui budaya. Karya sastra yang mengandung pendidikan karakter yang dapat dijadikan sebagai identitas bangsa yang harus dimiliki masyarakat Indonesia di era mea. Pendidikan karakter kebangsaan pada karya sastra menjadi saranan kesiapan masyarakat Indonesia menghadapi persaingan di era mea dengan menggunakan bahasa dan budaya sebagai media berkomunikasi. Kata kunci: MEA, sastra, bahasa, budaya dan pendidikan karakter

Abstract

Asean Economic Community (AEC) is the realization of the region’s end goal of economic integration that envisions ASEAN as a single market and production base, a highly competitive region, with equitable economic development, and fully integrated into the global economy. With those opportunities, youths have more chances to develop their career into the international scale. However, going to the international scale is not an easy process as there are problems that they have to face. One of the  most significant problems is the language. It has been a general knowledge that everyone must be capable of speaking English when they want to work abroad. English, as the mostly used international language, makes the communication between foreigners become easier and more understandable. Indonesia, as one of ASEAN members which English is not the first language, faces a problem where the youths lack of knowledge about English. Most of them are not able to speak English in basic level. Thus, it creates inconfidence within them that they cannot go abroad because of the language barrier. Many of them stay to work in Indonesia while they have bigger chance to develop their talent and get more experience.  This paper analyzed the effort that educational institutions have made to help Indonesia’s youths to improve their English and boost up their confidence and explain how English comprehensions plays an important role for the youths to participate in Asean Economic Community. Keywords: English skill, youths, AEC, educational institutions.

Abstract

 Writing is one of English skills which is categorized as the most difficult skill for second language students. In Indonesia, university students who learn English still find some difficulties in writing. To help the students in facing their problem, the researcher decided to use diary writing as a medium. By using the medium, the writer wanted to know the students’ writing improvement. The researcher used quasi experimental research to find the students’ writing improvement. There were two samples of this research. They were literature students as the control group and education students as the experimental group. The writer applied the technique as the treatment to the experimental group.  Before the researcher applied the treatment, the researcher gave a pre-test to the students of literature and education to know their writing ability. After the researcher applied the treatment, the researcher gave a post-test to both groups. The result showed that there was improvement on students’ achievement. It was proven by the value of significant which was 0.005. It was lower than 0.05. Then, it was concluded that diary writing improved the students’ writing. Keywords: students’ writing, diary writing

Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa merupakan sebuah proses untuk menguasai sebuah bahasa. Keberhasilan sebuah proses pembelajaran bahasa dipengaruhi oleh dua unsur penting di dalamnya, yakni pengajar dan pemelajar. Begitu pula dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) yang mengharuskan pemelajarnya menguasai keterampilan bahasa maupun sastra. Khususnya bagi pemelajar BIPA tingkat mahir. Proses pembelajaran akan dikatakan berhasil apabila kompetensi yang diajarkan oleh guru atau pengajar dapat dikuasai pemelajar dengan baik. Perlu adanya persiapan yang harus dilakukan oleh pengajar sebelum menyampaikan kompetensi kepada pemelajar. Apalagi bagi pemelajar BIPA, karya sastra pasti cukup asing bagi mereka meskipun tidak sedikit yang sudah mengenal tentang karya sastra di negaranya masing-masing. Untuk itu pengajar BIPA sebaiknya menggunakan berbagai trik inovatif pembelajaran yakni salah satunya dengan menerapkan media pembelajaran sesuai dengan kompetensi yang akan diajarkan kepada pemelajar BIPA. Menelaah karya sastra cerpen sangat pas apabila diajarkan dengan menggunakan media audio visual berupa video. Media video adalah media yang menampilkan gambar, gerak, maupun suara sehingga akan lebih menarik bagi pemelajar BIPA untuk menontonnya, serta dengan memilih video pembacaan cerpen yang bermuatan budaya nasional Indonesia sekaligus memperkenalkan keragaman kebudayaan yang dimiliki oleh Indonesia kepada pemelajar BIPA. Kata kunci :  media audio visual, video pembacaan cerpen, BIPA

Abstract

Bahasa Indonesia dewasa ini sangat diminati di seluruh penjuru dunia. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari sekurangnya 73 negara mengangkat pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di universitas-universitas mereka. Selain itu, banyak warga asing, khususnya pelajar dan pekerja, yang jauh-jauh pergi ke Indonesia untuk mempelajari bahasa Indonesia. Hal ini terjadi karena adanya MEA (Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean) yang artinya warga negara seluruh Asia Tenggara bebas bekerja di seluruh negara di Asia Tenggara. Tetapi pada kenyataannya, para pekerja asing yang bekerja di Indonesia masih kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi. Hal tersebutlah yang membuat pembelajaran BIPA jadi sangat penting. Pembelajaran BIPA terdiri dari tiga tingkatan, yaitu tingkat dasar, tingkat madya, dan tingkat mahir. Sebagai pembelajaran, BIPA memerlukan bahan ajar yang update dan relevan dengan kehidupan serta budaya bangsa Indonesia. Realitanya, bahan ajar BIPA, khususnya sastra, masih perlu ditambah. Raden Mandasia Si Pencuri Daging Sapi karya Yusi Avianto Pareanom adalah salah satu novel yang memiliki ciri-ciri tersebut, mengangkat tema tentang budaya Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan relevansi novel Raden Mandasia Si Pencuri Daging Sapi karya Yusi Avianto Pareanom sebagai bahan ajar BIPA. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif berbentuk kajian pustaka. Hasilnya adalah novel Raden Mandasia Si Pencuri Daging Sapi relevan sebagai bahan ajar BIPA tingkat madya dan mahir karena kental mengandung unsur budaya bangsa Indonesia yang luhur.Kata Kunci: novel, bahan ajar, bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur asing (BIPA), masyarakat ekonomi ASEAN (MEA)

Abstract

Grammar is rules for forming words and making sentences. It needs to use correctly in daily English speaking and academic writing. The use of grammar for non native English learner is quite difficult. They do not only need to memorize all the formulasbut also they have to apply grammar in their sentences. Therefore, there is one easy method for beginner to learn grammar by lyric of English Songs. This method works by analyzing each sentence in lyric of songs. It comes to be easy because learner can do their hobby in listening music while learning the English grammar. This paper will use library research to analyze deeply about improving ability in learning grammar by lyric of English Songs especially on verb tenses. There are many verb tenses analyzed in some lyric of English songs that will be discussed in this paper.Keywords: learning grammar, English song, easy method, international language

Abstract

Teaching English as a second or foreign language needs variation and creativity of the teacher in order to make the class more joyful and relaxed that makes students more eager and interested in joining the class. Kahoot that is designed as a combination of ICT use in education and games is very applicable in an English classroom for boosting the students’ learning. This study discusses the use of Kahoot to boost the English students’ learning. The study is about a descriptive quantitative and qualitative research. In this case, I used Kahoot in an English classroom of DIII of Nursing consisting of 40 students to teach simple present tense. The data were collected using questionnaire before and after the instruction. The data showed the students’ feeling toward English and teaching method before and after the use of Kahoot. The result shows that after using Kahoot for teaching, the students are very interested in joining the class; they are more eager in coming to the class, they pay more attention in English and they are interested in learning more about what they had learn and want to tell others about it. Keywords: ICT (Information and Communication Technology), Kahoot, learning booster

Abstract

Reasoning ability is needed by students to understand mathematical concepts. In fact, a lot of students tend to be passive in reasoning. The characteristic of such students will affect their success in learning. One of the important indicators to figure out students’ mathematical reasoning ability is presenting mathematical statements in graphs, and one of students’ characteristics that should be noted by teacher is their personality. According to Keirsey, there are four types of personality. One of the four personality types is guardian. This research is a descriptive qualitative where the subjects are two students with guardian personality; a male and a female students. Both subjects are eighth grade students of junior high school 2 Ngemplak Boyolali who have received straight line equation concept. Students’ ability to present mathematical statements in graphs is explored by interviews based on the outcome of a written test and then analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. The data analysis of the written test and interview conclude that guardian students were able to present mathematics concept in graphs; students were able to draw a straight line at cartesian coordinate system. But, students were only able to draw the line if the points of the coordinate are given in a complete manner. Students were not able to draw the line if they were given only one point and one gradient aid instrument. Students realized that to draw a straight line is needed two points but they were unable to find another point referred to. In conclusion, detailed instructions were needed by guardian students to present mathematical statements in the graphs at cartesian coordinate system. Keywords: Straight Line Equation, Graph, Guardian Personality Type

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to show other than nouns, verbs and adjectives, what the other word classes are uttered by children and also what the word class is the most frequently uttered by them in their first language acquisition. The participants of the research are five children whose age ranges from two to four years old and whose parents are native speakers of Indonesian. The conversations of the five children or subjects had with their parents in Indonesian were observed and video-recorded for two – three months. Some of the subjects also had the conversations with their auntie, brother and sister in their same native language. The subjects’ conversations were transcribed for the necessary data. The qualitative method was employed to syntactically analyze the collected data by categorizing the words uttered by the subjects into word classes or word category.The research findings reveal that the other word classes uttered by the five children or subjects of the research in their conversations are adverbs (125 words), pronouns (116 words), particles (77 words), and numerals (15 words), and that adverbs are the most frequently uttered by the subjects. Based on the above research findings, it is concluded that other than nouns, verbs and adjectives, the five subjects can also utter adverbs, pronouns, particles, numerals, and that they utter adverbs most frequently. Key Words: Word Classes, Utter, Child’s First Language Acquisition
