Abstract

Metacognitive skills is seen as one of the factors that influence the cognitive learning. Relations metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes can be achieved through the use of specific instructional strategies. Thus the relationship has been much studied. However, the study of the relationship of metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes in learning Animal Phyisiology is still lacking. This study is a correlational study revealing the relationship metacognitive skills of college student with cognitive learning outcomes on the use of learning strategies based on Vee diagram. The study was conducted during the semester. The study population was college student of Animal fisiology FPMIPA UPI Bandung Indonesia. Samples taken as a single class taught using learning strategy based on Vee Diagram . The results show that there is a relationship metacognitive skills of collegee students with cognitive learning outcomes in the application of scientific learning. The regression equation based on the results of the data analysis is y = 0,493x + 20.37 with the reliability value of 0.529 which means donations metacognitive skills of college students on the cognitive learning is 52.9%, while 47.1% are other factors besides metacognitive skills. Conclusions based on these results that the colllege student metacognitive skills associated with cognitive achievement on the use of learning based on Vee diagram.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to knowing the effectiveness of LKS Human Respiratory System Based on Learning cycle (5E) on student’s cognitive. This research was an advanced Research and Development (R&D) on the stage of large-scale trails that organized in three schools. The research design that used for large-scale experiments was by the design of quasi experiments control group pretest and posttest. The population in this study were all students of class the XI in SMAN 84 Jakarta, SMAN 95 Jakarta, and SMAN 2 Kota Serang. Sample in this research is class XI IPA students as much as one class as the control class, and one class as the experiment class in each school. The sampling is taken by using simple random sampling technique. The data accumulation technique used objective tests sheest. Data analysis technique using t-test for testing the hypothesis on learning outcomes (cognitiver). The results of this research show that Student Learning Sheet (LKS) based on learning cycle (5E) The Human Respiratory System Material is effectively used as a teaching material for the students cognitive in learning the human respiratory system in high school students of class XI.

Abstract

This paper purpose to investigate the relationship between student’ reasoning abilities withargumentation skills in digestive system concept through PBL (Problem Based Learning). Thisresearch use correlational research method with reasoning multiple choice test as an instrument tomeasure the student’ reasoning abilities and argumentation sheet which have been adapted fromToulmin’s Argumentation Pattern (TAP) to measure student’ argumentation skills. Subject of thisresearch are second grade students of senior high school in West Bandung Regency. Data analysisshow that student’ reasoning abilities and argumentation skill have a strong positive relationship. Thisrelationship can be shown by the result of the correlation coefficient calculation about 0,76 withdetermination coefficient about 57,76%.

Abstract

Aplikasi PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) dewasa ini telah berkembang cukup pesat yang semula fungsinya hanya untuk perbanyakan fragmen DNA saja. PCR telah digunakan dalam dunia kedokteran sebagai pendeteksi suatu penyakit seperti kanker. Metode deteksi berbasis perbanyakan asam nukleat ini walaupun sudah diklaim memiliki tingkat akurasi deteksi yang cukup tinggi namun eror masih sering dijumpai pada banyak metode deteksi PCR bahkan pada sistem berbasis high-troughput sekalipun. Hal ini menyebabkan data yang didapatkan kurang begitu dipercaya kebenarannya sehingga berdampak sangat signifikan pada kualitas penanganan pasien oleh dokter. Untuk itu, mengetahui penyebab eror PCR dan langkah-langkah eliminasinya menjadi tahapan penting dalam pengembangan metode deteksi molekuler berbasis PCR ini. Pada mini review ini dijelaskan faktor-faktor penyebab timbulnya eror PCR, jenis eror PCR, strategi untuk menghilangkan eror PCR serta implikasi eror PCR pada akurasi deteksi molekuler kanker.

Abstract

Jamur tiram memiliki berbagai manfaat di bidang kesehatan. Oleh karena itu, budidaya jamur tiram perlu dilakukan mengingat tingginya permintaan konsumen yang dapat memicu meningkatnya nilai jual jamur tiram. Akan tetapi, kondisi intensitas cahaya di Tangerang Selatan yang tidak menentu dan kebutuhan nutrisi yang diperlukan jamur tiram menyebabkan budidaya jamur tiram tidak dapat dilakukan secara optimal. Maka untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui intensitas cahaya dan kadar sukrosa yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan jamur tiram di daerah Tangerang Selatan. Variasi intensitas cahaya yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penyinaran 24 jam/hari, penyinaran 12 jam/hari, dan penyinaran 0 jam/hari. Sedangkan variasi kadar sukrosa yang digunakan adalah 5%, 10%, dan 15% dalam 100 ml air. Setelah bibit jamur tiram F4 ditumbuhkan selama lima hari, muncul tubuh buah jamur tiram pada perlakuan dengan penyinaran 0 jam/hari dan kadar sukrosa 10%. Berat jamur tiram tersebut adalah 0.0175 gram. Penelitian ini menunjukkan kemungkinan cara kultivasi yang sesuai untuk jamur tiram di Tangerang Selatan.

Abstract

The Mesat River is one of the rivers that cross the City of Lubuklinggau. Community activities around the river Mesat less maintain the river can disrupt the river ecosystem Mesat itself. The purpose of this study is to explore the microalgae in the Mesat River Lubuklinggau City. This research uses survey method, carried out on three stations with three repetitions in the waters of the Mesat River Kecamatan Lubuklinggau Timur II Lubuklinggau Town and identified in the Biology Laboratory STKIP-PGRI Lubuklinggau. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. The results of the study found microalgae in the Mesat River of Lubuklinggau City consisting of 4 Divisions, 6 Classes, 15 Orders, 19 Famili, 27 Genus and 32 Species. Mesi Abiotik Factor Measurement Results: mean temperature value 250C, average PH value 7.2, average brightness value 18.2 cm and Average Dissolved Oxygen Value 4.64 mg/L. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the type of microalgae found in the Mesat River consists of: Ankistrodesmus sp, Micrasterias radiata, Coelastrum sp, Zygnema sp, Chroococus sp, Xanthidium sp, Dictyosphaerium sp, Chlamydomonas sp, Carteria sp, Lyngbya sp, Rhizoclonium hieroglyphicum, Cylotella sp, Surirella elegans, Spyrogira sp, Eunothia sp, Gonatozygon sp Chlorella sp, Oscillatoria limosa, Oscillatoria sp, Tabellaria sp, Pediastrum singulex, Pediastrum duplex, Closterium sp, Cosmarium sp, Mougeotia sp, Phacus triqueter, Phacus lomgicauda, Euglena viridis, Euglena mutabilis, Scenedesmus sp, Scenedesmus acuminatus, and Scenedesmus opaliensis.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the creativity and understanding profile on sub concept of animal and plant organelle cells at class XI SMA Negeri 3 Cilegon. Method used in this research was a descriptive method. The research population was 24 students of Class XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Cilegon. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The instruments used in this research were creativity grading sheets, creative product grading sheets, and multiple choice questions. The result shows that the students’ creativity in the creativity process was categorized as “good” with average score of 78,69 and for creative product created by the students was also categorized as “good” with average score of 80,7. As for the concept understanding of the students, was categorized as “good” as well with the average score of 74,8.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of critical thinking skills of high school students by applying the method of argument map on the material Circulatory System. The method used in this research is quasi experiment with Static Group Pretest-Posttest Design design through procurement of control class. The study population is XI MIPA SMAN 97 Jakarta with the sample of research as many as two classes, namely XI MIPA 1 and 3 which contains each of 36 students. The instrument used in this research is a description test. Based on data analysis of research results, the average value of pretest and posttest obtained in the control class of 28.89, while in the experimental class obtained at 25.08 and posttest of 38.67. The result of t-test of pretest and posttest of control class is obtained tcount (0,000) <ttabel (2,306) which is not significantly different, whereas in t-test result pretest and posttest of experiment class with tcount (25,528)> ttable (2,306) differ significantly. The test was continued with N-Gain calculation, where the control class obtained N-Gain of 0.4 and the experimental class obtained N-gain of 0.7. The N-Gain score criteria in the control class include the medium category and the experimental class included in the high category. From the results of this study can be concluded that the application of argument map method on the circulatory system material can improve the critical thinking ability of learners.

Abstract

Content Knowledge (CK) is an ability to reveal  a particular object based on the characteristics possessed by the object. The purpose of this research was to analyze the ability of Content Knowledge (CK) of Pre-service Biology Teachers  to be viewed based on concept comprehension test. The study used qualitative methods, measured by giving a test in the form of a description of the genetics and ecology, the questions were compiled based on Blooms taxonomy Revision from C2-C4 level. The research show that; in general prospective teachers have low mastery on the concept of gene regulation, Mendels Law, and protein synthesis, but they have a good concepts on comprehension of Genes, DNA, and chromosomes, mutations, DNA relations, RNA, polypeptides, transcription and translation in the function of the formation of the nature of living things, and the relationship between sexual reproduction and gene inheritance. For the concept of ecology, in general they have a low mastery on the concept of interaction between organisms, biomass, community of organisms and global changes. While they have a good mastery on concept of the food chain system and the flow of energy, and the population.

Abstract

The level of competence achievement will be known by evaluating the students after all the basic competencies that exist in the standard of the content they are studying, which must be seen how the suitability of the evaluation instruments provided to the students with the demands of basic competencies and the process of learning in the class .. The method used in this researchis a descriptive method. Subjects were ten biology teachers from seven SMANs in Bandung as a sample, each school representing three clusters. Selection of this research sample is done by using stratified sampling technique, that is by choosing school with high category, medium and low. KD analyzed material of Class X Plantae and Class X Excression System. Plantae material learning process question and excretion system on cluster 1, the highest average at level C2 (understanding) that is equal to 55,91%. While on cluster 2 the highest average also at level C2 (understanding) that is equal to 50,96%. While on the cluster 3 the highest average is also at level C2 (understand) that is equal to 48,91%. The cognitive domain of Plantaes exercise / material tasks in cluster 1, the highest average at the level C1 (knowledge) is 57.5%. While on the cluster 2 the highest average also at level C1 (knowledge) that is equal to 71,67%. While the highest average cluster is at level C2 (understanding) that is equal to 51,67%. The cognitive domain of Plantae material repetition and Excretion System in cluster 1, the highest average at the level of C1 (knowledge) is 56.67%. While on the cluster 2 average highest at level C1 (knowledge) that is equal to 56,3%. While on the cluster 3 highest cognitive domain is at level C1 (knowledge) that is equal to 52,55%.
