Abstract

This Community Partnership Program or PKM aimed to develop an economically independent fish farmer groups, help create peace and comfort in community life and to improve the knowledge and skills of all members of the fish farmer group in order to be able to overcome the problems faced in carrying out fish farming. Partner groups were Esaan and Dungarungan fish farmer groups (Pokdakan) at Mundung Village, Tombatu Timur District, Southeast Minahasa Regency, which is about 77.4 km from Sam Ratulangi University. The problem faced by partner groups were frequent occurrence of fish diseases, expensive fish feed and business management was still simple. The solutions offered were training the fish farmers on how to apply immunostimulant in fish feed to prevent disease and increase fish growth, how to formulate cheaper fish feed using local ingredients, educating the farmers on how to shorten the marketing chain, and how to promote the production, and training on how to make good bookkeeping. The output target were all group members and their families had the knowledge and skills to prepare immunostimulated fish feed, formulate cheaper fish feed using local ingredients, be able to apply business management and good bookkeeping, increase production and quality of production, scientific publications in national journals, and publications in newspaper. The method used were counseling and training through stages of explanation, discussion, practice and mentoring. With this method, each working group member and his family would hear, know, try, accept, and be able to run their business. PKM activities were carried out for 8 (eight) months. The first month was the preparation phase, the second month was the implementation of education/training, and the third to eighth months were the demonstration stages of fish cultivation, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation of activities. Keywords: Pokdakan, Desa Mundung, immunostimulant, fish feed, business management,       bookkeeping

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the best culture medium for producing maggot (Hermetia illucens) and to determine the production quantity in each different medium.  This research was controlled two times a day at 09:00 a.m. and 16:00 p.m. Cultivation media were prepared from coconut pulp, tofu pulp, rice bran and restaurant wastes. Each medium was weighed as much as one kg and then placed into a culture container. The research used Completely Randomized Design consisting of 4 treatments, each with three replications. The parameters observed consisted of temperature and pH of the media  measured at 07.00 am and 17.00 pm, and maggot production measured on the last day. During the ten days of experiment, the production of maggot in the treatment using restaurant waste media was significantly different as compared to other treatments. This study found that a good medium for the production of maggot was prepared using restaurant waste. Keywords: Hermetia illucens, coconut pulp, restaurant waste

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of the use of the best fermented coconut pulp in feed on the growth of tilapia.  The research  used 12  nets  measuring 1x1 m placed in a concrete pond measuring 3.5 x 5 cm. The treatments were A (without fermented coconut pulp), B (10% fermented coconut pulp), C (20% fermented coconut pulp), and D (30% fermented coconut pulp). The experimental method used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. Data collected were absolute growth, daily growth, relative growth, and feed efficiency. The results of the variance analysis showed an influence in the growth of tilapia size 5-8 cm. The best growth and feed efficiency value occurred in treatment D Thus  the use of  30% fermented coconut pulp in fish food could improve the growth of tilapia.Key words : fermented coconut pulp, tilapia, growth feed efficiency
