Abstract

This research is aimed to improve students motivation and learning outcomes. The action used in improving the two things is the learning process with STAD technique. This study uses three stages: Pre Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, each cycle using two meetings. Research data were obtained from a student questionnaire and test with multiple choice questions. Questionnaire to know the development of learning motivation, while the test with multiple choice questions to know the development of learning outcomes. The research data is analyzed descriptively-qualitative. The results of the study explain that the implementation of learning with STAD techniques can improve students motivation and achievement. Learning motivation in Pre Cycle obtained an average of 23.47 (medium category). While in Cycle I the average learning motivation increased to 26.57 (medium category). Percentage of students achieved high category score of 4 students (13%). Furthermore, in cycle II the average learning motivation of 33.87 (high category). Percentage of students obtained a great and very high category score of 22 students (73.3%). Thus until the end of Cycle II, learning motivation has increased. While the results of learning on the Precycle obtained an average of 61.93 (enough category), in the first cycle increased to 69.53 (enough class), in Cycle II obtained an average of 78.77 (right type). Furthermore, it is known that the percentage of learning mastery in the Pre Cycle of 3%, Cycle I of 31%, then in cycle II the rate of learning mastery increased to 86.66%. Thus until the end of Cycle II, student learning outcomes have increased. Based on the above data can be concluded that the implementation of learning STAD technique can improve learning motivation and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the learning implementation process of folklore rewriting competency through storyline puzzles. The puzzles were based on two folklore movies for improving the skill in revising folklore and also for behavioral enhancement of first Semester students in this case the VIIE class student in the academic year of 2015/2016, through this hopefully there will be a significant behavioral change in the students personality. This research was conducted using the action research method by Kemmis and Taggart designing for two cycles. The steps in each cycle consist of (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class VIIE of SMP Negeri 3 Ambarawa first semester in the academic year of 2015/2016. The technique used was the folklore-based storyline puzzle. Data collection tools used in this study were the performance instruments for folklore rewriting, student behavior observation sheets, student notes, observer notes, teacher and observer’s reflection sheets, and digital cameras to document the learning process. The Validated data consisted of learning outcome data (results of rewriting the folklore and daily quiz) and learning process data (teaching activities and the changes in students behavior). Based on the results of the study and discussion, it can be concluded that learning activity through folklore-based storyline puzzles can improve the learning outcome of writing folklore, improving the students’ personality, and improving the process of implementing better learning, especially students of class VIIE SMP Negeri 3 Ambarawa first semester in the academic year of 2015/2016.

Abstract

Karni Ilyas rhetorical strategy that astounds with the technique of persuasion through Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC) serves impressions about the information in the form of event/occurrence law succeeded in attracting the attention of the community. This research aims to interpret the usage of rhetoric functions of verbal and nonverbal emcee ILC as a strategy of rhetoric. The design and type of research use descriptive analytics. This research was conducted comprehensively refers to the analysis of the rhetoric of verbal and nonverbal. Based on the results and discussion of the rhetoric of oral, nonverbal, obtained ILC events regarding the use of the rhetoric of verbal and nonverbal strategies as a presenter with the techniques of persuasion. Type of diction, diction in denotative, connotative, special, public, scientific, accessible, and the style of language used have a strategy that could affect listeners. The various elements of the selected non-verbal rhetoric serve to launch the process of policy within the host changes the listener. Therefore, an absolute necessity in communicating art an emcee who wanted to deliver a message delivered through the rhetoric form of speech (verbal) and rhetoric form of body language (nonverbal).

Abstract

This study aimed at finding out the main characters’ personality in the novel of Negeri Para Bedebah by Tere Liye based on Carl Gustav Jung’s psychoanalysis. The research method used qualitative with content analysis. Data were collected by inventorying Thomass conversation based on Carl Gustav Jungs psychoanalytic personality characteristic. It consists of think extrovert, feels extrovert, sense extrovert, intuition extrovert, think introvert, feel introvert, sensitive introvert, and intuition introvert. The results revealed that the discovery of eight main characters’ personality. First, think extrovert is demonstrated by the ability of intellectual analysis of objective experience. Second, feel extrovert is found by responding emotionally to objective reality. Third, sense extrovert is the tendency of figures to analyze the situation. Fourth, intuition extrovert is seen by its character does not care about logic. Fifth, think introvert figure depiction looks inflexible, cold, judge, and cruel. Sixth, feel introvert showed by figures are selfish and unsympathetic. Seventh, sense introvert found the ability of the senses to give them subjective meaning. Eighth, intuition introvert is demonstrated by the figure closing in and keeping the distance from the others. In conclusion, the eight personality types can be found on the whole structure of an irregular novel story.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of implementing a project-based learning model. This study used design of classroom action research in two cycles. The instrument used was in the form of a test instrument to measure the results of knowledge and skills tests, as well as non-test instruments to find out student activity data. The subjects in this study were 42 5A grade students of Indonesian Language Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University Surakarta, who attended learning tool courses in the odd semester of 2017/2018. Based on the results of the study, aspects of knowledge, skills, and attitudes of students in the basic concepts, classifications, and criteria of visual learning tool for elementary and junior high school students have increased after using the project-based learning model. The results of the knowledge test showed that the average class score on the cycle was 48.7, the first cycle was 48.67, then in the second cycle, it increased to 84.45 in the excellent category. As for the results of the skill test, the pre-cycle class average value is 69.69, the first cycle is 75.64, and in the second cycle is 84.06. The results of the non-data data analysis also showed an increase in student activity. In prusiks the percentage of students who are passive is 16.67%, in cycle one it is reduced to 11.90%, then in cycle 2, it is only 9.52%. When pre-cycle the percentage of students active during lectures is 47.62%, then during period one it increases to 52.38%, and in cycle two it becomes 59.52%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the steps of developing Sindoro Sumbing Legend pop-up media based on local wisdom as a student literacy media. This type of research is development research (R & D). This research was conducted at SDN Nguwet Kranggan, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, with a research subject of 35 class V students. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Questionnaires were filled in directly by respondents and validated by experts. The respondents who filled out the survey were teaching material experts, learning tool experts, and students. Data analysis techniques in this study used descriptive analysis. The results of this study are that Media Pop-Up developed is a Pop-Up folk tale or legend by linking local story elements in Temanggung Regency. This is due to the developed Pop-Up Book media based on local wisdom so that relevant stories are chosen, namely the Sindoro Sumbing Legend. Pop-Up Media Legend of Sindoro Sumbing based on domestic intelligence was developed with stages (1) research and data collection, (2) product manufacturing planning, (3) product draft development, and (4) limited implementation test. The results of the implementation tests in schools include individual tests, limited, and extensive tests obtaining scores in a row 4.25; 4.48; and 4.77, which means that the Pop-Up Legenda Sindoro Sumbing media is worthy of being used as a media for student literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze feminist ideology and thoughts about the ecofeminism of Parang Jati characters, the role of thinking and the realization of the ecofeminism that Parang Jati did in rescuing the Sewugunung karst area, as well as the impact of the understanding of ecofeminism carried out by Parang Jati to save the Sewugunung karst area in the novel Bilangan Fu. The research method used is descriptive analysis method with qualitative research. The result of the ideological analysis of the Parang Jati character is that the Parang Jati figure is a figure who has a critical attitude and thinking towards patriarchy although he was born with male gender so that later on he becomes a feminist man. The results of the ecofeminism analysis of the Parang Jati character in rescuing the Sewugunung karst area from mining are Parang Jati formulates three cultural strategies namely: (1) making Sewugunung a Protected Area category I a; (2) changing peoples ideas on nature conservation through art performances and dialogues; and (3) making Sewugunung a Protected Area category III. The results of the impact analysis of the realization of the ecofeminism of Parang Jati figures are: (1) The Government reviews proposals to make the area under conservation; (2) The company does not extend the security forces; and (3) changes in the attitudes of the figures to become more concerned with nature and do not commit violence against humans, especially women.

Abstract

This study is inspired by the use of Instagram as social media that is liked by Indonesian people. From 265, 4 million Indonesian people in 2018, 120 million people are users of social media. Fifty-three million out of 120 million people are the active users of Instagram in Indonesia. Instead of uploading the daily photos, Indonesian people are fond of posting jokes as the representative of social life. Those jokes use language as the primary medium. The use of words utilizes polysemy and homonymy for showing double meaning, so it represents jokes. This qualitative study uses the data of humorous postings on Instagram. After analyzing the data, it is found that the dominant aspects are polysemy and homonymy. Polysemy is shown by the transfer of meaning, the use of terms, and metaphor. Homonymy is viewed by the usage of language tendency, the use of names or titles, the abbreviation, and the divergence of meaning.

Abstract

This research is initiated by the error use of Indonesian language by the community living in Kampung Muhajirin, Bima due to interference phenomenon. The errors occur in various linguistic aspects. This study aims to determine the interference forms of Bimanese language to the Indonesian language based on the characteristics differences between Bimanese and Indonesian language. One of the most distinct characteristics of both languages is that Bimanese is a vocalist language, while the Indonesian language is not a vocalist. The data were collected by observation and recording technique. The researchers observed the linguistic phenomenon in Kampung Muhajirin and recorded by a tape recorder. Finally, the data were analyzed and transcribed in orthographic writing. The finding showed that the interference of Bimanese language to the Indonesian language occurs on the aspects of phonological, lexical, and grammatical. Phonological interference causes the vowel sound disappeared at the end of the word. Lexical interference causes mixed code. Grammatical interference causes word order error.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the meaning of Padlocks hung on the fence of Liliba Bridge in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The meaning of the padlocks was analyzed from semiotic’s approach especially Roland Barthes which meanings were seen from denotation, connotation, and myth. This study used qualitative research method. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that the hanging padlocks had 3 main meanings, (1) the denotation meaning was the couple or teenagers wrote both their names on a padlock, then they locked and hung it on Liliba Bridge; (2) the connotation meaning was the couple or teenagers had analogy their love in a padlock which had their names in order to make their romantic love lasts forever as same as the padlock; and (3) the myth meaning was the teenagers believed and convinced that their love will last forever if they locked the padlocks on the Liliba bridge.
