Abstract

Membaca adalah proses berfikir, karena aspek utamanya adalah memahami makna dari bacaan. Bagian paling penting dari makna adalah ide, konsep, pola pikiran, gambaran, dan perkataan. Makna tidak hanya muncul dari kumpulan kata tetapi dari tautan makna dari setiap kata didalam sebuah konteks di pikiran pembaca. Teks bacaan disebut pasif karena pembacalah yang harus aktif menemukan makna dari sebuah teks bacaan. Pembaca harus dapat memahami sebuah pesan didalam teks berdasarkan unsur-unsur semantiknya. Salah satunya adalah kohesi. Kohesi dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah sebuah teks bacaan tersebut bermakna atau tidak. Sebuah teks bacaan dikatakan baik jika ditulis dengan kohesif sehingga terbentuk jalinan makna yang tidak lepas dari konteks teks tersebut. Kohesi dapat memudahkan siswa dalam memahami sebuah bacaan karena siswa dapat mengetahui jalinan makna bagaimana kalimat ataupun paragraph terhubung didalam sebuah konteks.Key words: cohesion, reading text

Abstract

The purpose of speaking learning in school is not only to make students proficient spoke well for many purposes, but also to trigger students creativity in terms of determining the source of idea and develop ideas. It is also can make students as a good ethics speaker. For the honorable purposes, variety obstacles that come from inside and outside student, often inhibits, one of which is the lack of the students opportunity to practice and perform. The teacher as director, adviser, facility providers and motivator needs to determine the best efforts for the settlement of various constraints. One of which is choose the most appropriate learning strategies. The strategy chosen have to be adapted to implementation procedure of Learning Speaking, so the chosen strategy can be right on target and obtain maximum results.Keyword: teacher, learning, talking

Abstract

AbstractThe phatic communion is the standardized ritual repertoire in Indonesia culture, particularly in Javanese socioculture. The speech is a form of clichés which can be spoken by any Javanese speakers to the situation to start a conversation. The purposes of this research are to identify (1) the markers of phatic communion in colloquial Javanese language, (2) the types of phatic communion in colloquial Javanese language, (3) communicative functions of phatic communion (metalinguitics politeness) as the politeness markers in spoken language. In this study, I used pragmatic approach by analysing the language functions in which they are expressed in the form of speech acts. The data were colloquial Javanese language which had phatic communion. The subject of the study were standard Javanese speakers, Banyumas Javanese speakers, and East Java Javanese speakers. The data were collected by recording technique and note-taking technique. The data were analyzed by using Creswell’s steps. In this study, there were six categories of the phatic communion in colloquial Javanese language. They were congratulation, hope, humiliation, invitation, prohibition, and farewell. In their construction, the speakers used the phatic marker as the modifier and the markers of speech purposes. Abstract

This study discusses presupposition and implikature in Abdur’s Stand-up Comedy Indonesia (SUCI) Session 4 Kompas TV. SUCI uses Indonesian language as the main material of the jokes. The jokes in SUCI come from everyday life of the comics. The jokes in SUCI have some massages. It uses pragmatics analysis approach to answer the questions about (1) presupposition and (2) implicature of SUCI 4. The data are oral forms of Kompas TV’s SUCI 4 shows. The data are obtained by the observation method and by taking notes technique. The data analysis uses pragmatics equal methods. The theories used are the theory of background knowledge, presuppotition, and implicature. The analysis shows that first, Comica’s presupposition about the east of Indonesia are geographycal, society, food, technology, and pulic building condition. Secondly, implicature of Abdur stand up comedy are admit a shortage, found out attention, and critics about government role. Keywords: presupposition, implicature, Indonesian stand up comedy.

Abstract

Cerpen merupakan salah satu jenis karya sastra kreatif. Sebagi karya sastra kreatif, cerpen  mengungkapkan hidup dan kehidupan manusia yang  dikemas secara imajiner dan menggunakan bahasa yang indah. Peristiwa hidup dan kehidupan manusia yang ada dalam cerpen diungkapkan oleh tokoh. Keberadaan tokoh dalam sebuah cerpen sangatlah penting. Aneka peristiwa kehidupan yang terjadi pada tokoh dan atau antartokoh dapat diketahui melalui tindak tutur tokoh. Jalan cerita, jalinan cerita, peristiwa dalam cerita diketahui dan dinikmati oleh pembaca dari tindak tutur tokoh. Aneka macam tindak tutur tokoh yang ada dalam cerpen menunjukkan aneka peristiwa yang terjadi dalam cerpen. Salah satu daya pikat atau daya tarik cerpen adalah dari tindak tutur tokoh. Hal ini tercermin juga dalam cerpen “Tergoda” karya Dewi Anggraeni. Kata kunci: variasi, tindak tutur, cerpen, tergoda

Abstract

Teaching writing based on gender discourse is designed to make the creative writing process is free from discriminating, strereotyping, and marginalizing aspects, which later has negative effects for particular gender. In reality, this process focuses on the teachers’ effort in reconstructing teaching writing based on the conferencing approach. This approach is based on the guided writing process between peers and between students and teachers. This creative writing process is interfered by gender discourse. In this class, the system is affected by characters and shaped by the writer’s character in giving his/her perspectives about male-female roles so there will be no marginalized, discriminated, and labelled groups. This study uses quasi experimental research design. This study aims at finding out the model teaching writing which based on gender discourse and conferencing approach. The procedure of this studi is based on the R2D2 model which has three steps: (1) defining, (2) planning and developing, (3) and disseminating. The data of this study cover qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data are analyzed by using domain analysis technique with critical and reflective principles, while the quantitative data are analyzed by statistic analysis techniques with t-test. This study results teaching writing model which based on gender discourse and conferencing approach, such as (1) syllabus, (2) lesson plan, (3) learning materials/text book, (4) evaluation instruments, (5) teaching writing guide. This covers model teaching writing for (a) exposition text, (b) narrative text, and argumentative text. Based on the data analysis, the three models of teaching writing are effective and improve the PBSI (Department of Indonesian Education and Literature) Students’ writing skills at Tidar University.Keywords: conferencing approach, teaching writing, writing model

Abstract

Wangsalan has the potential interest of students in learning the Java language since it has elements of games and entertainment. Bedhekan items in wangsalan can be arranged in the form of crossword puzzles or in Javanese language better known with the term prapatan. The composition of the bedhekan wangsalan in the later abbreviated BALAPAN (Bedhekan Wangsalan Prapatan). The use of this medium can be used as an alternative to the Java language learning techniques, including writing letters to fill in the fields using the Java letters of Java. The Media is expected to overcome boredom and a sense of saturation of students in the learning process. Learning to write Java letter with the media BALAPAN can improve the ability of students in writing letters of Java. This is evident from the results of the study showed that the average value of Pracycle, The Cycle I, and Cycle II has increased. The average value of Pracycle of the I and the Cycle of 59,29 74,46 or increased by 25.6%. The value of the Cycle I and Cycle II 74,46 $ 86.25% 15,83 or increased. Overall improvement of writing skills of Java Pracycle letter to the Cycle II experienced an increase of 45,28%. Behavior change in the learning activities of students also experience a change to the better. A learning recreatif media is able to encourage the interest and motivation of students at the time of learning. Students are more motivated in my experience, learn, and discover knowledge, build understanding, communicating the results of his thinking, and more reflective thinking. Keywords: Bedhekan Wangsalan Prapatan, wangsalan, media, creatif learning.

Abstract

Kosa kata memainkan peranan penting dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pembelajaran kosa kata dalam Bahasa Inggris merupakan hal yang tidak mudah terutama bagi para siswa sebagai pembelajar pemula. Selain itu, mereka memiliki karakteristik khusus yang sangat berbeda dari orang dewasa. Dengan menitikberatkan pada perbedaan karakteristik tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa para guru yang mengajar pembelajar pemula memiliki tugas yang menantang untuk dapat memotivasi mereka dalam proses pembelajaran. Dalam hal ini, para guru harus lebih kreatif dan menjauhkan siswa mereka dari rasa bosan saat pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris. Mereka harus menyiapkan materi yang akan diberikan kepada para siswa dan juga memilih teknik yang sesuai untuk digunakan. Dengan melakukan hal-hal tersebut, mereka dapat membuat siswa memiliki ketertarikan yang besar dalam proses pembelajaran. Mereka harus mampu memilih dan menggunakan teknik-teknik pengajaran yang dapat membuat proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih menyenangkan, menarik, dan menggembirakan bagi para siswa.  Salah satu teknik tersebut adalah menggunakan permainan di dalam kelas. Menggunakan permainan dapat memberikan banyak keuntungan bagi para guru dan siswa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan permainan dalam pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris sangatlah efektif, karena menggunakan permainan sangat menyenangkan dan cocok dengan karakteristik anak-anak sebagai pembelajar pemula.    Key words: Vocabulary, Young Learner, Games

Abstract

Assessment is needed in the activity deals with teaching learning process as well as the learning of speaking ability in higher education. Basically, assessment for lecturers is not a novelty. Assessment is important since it is done in every learning process. It is necessary to be done because the result of assessment can be used as one of the standards of learners’ competency in understanding the material. Number and value can be used as the standard of learning success since they are the characteristics of the assessment. In doing the assessment of learning outcomes, the lecturers should notice the assessment principles as the qualified assessments guidelines. The assessment principles which are needed to be actualized in the assessment of learning outcomes in speaking ability are validation principle, competence education, objective, fair, open, continuity, comprehensive and economical. Based on the reality, some speaking ability’s assessment principles in higher education have not fully actualized yet.  The effort to realize the speaking ability’s assessment principle in higher education is by doing assessment based on information technology. The use of information technology in assessing speaking ability can actualize the assessment principle. Abstract

Dosen memerlukan cara yang tepat dalam pengajaran writing khususnya di tingkat universitas karena mahasiswa harus menulis laporan penelitian di akhir masa studinya. Selain itu kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis jenis-jenis teks juga masih kurang memadai. Hal tersebut akan mendorong dosen untuk selalu melakukan inovasi dengan menggunakan teknik pengajaran yang menarik. Cooperative learning adalah suatu bentuk kegiatan pembelajaran yang aktif dimana mahasiswa harus bekerja sama untuk menampilkan tugas tertentu dalam kelompok kecil. Dengan penggunaan teknik ini mahasiswa akan mendapatkan ide untuk menulis dengan lebih mudah serta menikmati proses belajar-mengajar yang menarik dan menyenangkan. Sebagai hasil akhir, kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis teks menjadi lebih baik.Key words: writing, text, cooperative learning
