Abstract

Mass media can be called as a company. If media owner want contruction of production result as his/her want, so that the out put will suitable with that contruction. Creativity from worker will be limited for they work situation under pressure, intervension and rule that bind from top management. That individual autonomy media crews who work in news departement in some television company are pressured. They have degradation in their work for the owner has agenda where the agenda is published by media. Abstract

The importance of mass media tend to described as the fourth pillar of a nation, that represents democration, after the existence of nation sets of government forces. In line with teori agenda setting thesis emphasize media force to influence society agenda, and in the end will brought particular change towards. Post-reformation, media tend to isolate themselves from society needs although society is their biggest and the most loyal audiences. Thus called mainstream media consider economic importance as the most important aspect, this fact encouraging media to deviate from their main purpose as the provider of idea and knowledge, whether to give out information or to accomodate various needs and interest. This condition known as ”the end of media”, related with this condition the emergence an alternate known as citizen journalism really needed to balance out information current. The existence of citizen journalism encourage audience to participate as subject and object to control journalistic mechanism.

Abstract

This research is conducted to describe caring extent of Kompas and Media Indonesia towards child education in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province after tsunami disaster, using content analysis approach. Data was analyzed using ’intercoder reliability’ to measure degree of reliability between coders and media. Agenda Setting and Social Responsibility theories are used to depict media roles on instructing what should be considered by daily readers, in order to portray media social responsibilities, indicating media regard ness. Research final gains, showing that Kompas and Media Indonesia, as printed mass media representations, possessing poor average of caring extent towards child education in post-apocalyptic region, by the amount of 42, 86 %. Amongst seven indicators of research, there are only three indicators that refer to significant degree of caring extent foreshortening medias’ social responsibility, i.e; news title readability applying substantive method, using comprehendable words; informant selection congruent with news theme; news angle emphasizing certain indicator taken from 5W+1H concept.

Abstract

This research is conducted to described and verified communication functions on television program called ’Bukan Empat Mata’ on Trans7. This research used survey method. Primary data gathered from questionnaires, while secondary data collected from related literatures. Research final gains, showing that ’Bukan Empat Mata’ serves two mass-communication functions, which are surveillance and linkage functions from media upon society, especially ’Bukan Empat Mata’ audiences come from Semarang University academics.

Abstract

In the era of liberalization that characterized the television media with comodification various impressions to attract viewers, in many ways carried on various kinds of impressions displayed. No exception impressions cosmetic ads which in practice is clearly a lot of exploiting womens body language to attract the audience that they ultimately want to use the products offered. Cosmetics with herbs ad exploits womens bodies are often ignored ethics, especially related to KPI P3SPS and cultural and religious views of society and the rights of adolescents and women. The impact is certainly there was a negative. For that research using discourse analysis techniques to examine the use of body language in womens cosmetics advertisements on television to be attractive for the study. The goal is clear to see how the exploitation of womens body language in advertisements on television cosmetics. Through discourse analysis method of recording by cosmetics ads on television, and then analyzed by discourse analysis, it can be concluded that, of cosmetics advertisements on television were likely to utilize and exploit the  perfect female body , in order to reach an audience sympathetic to using products that offered them. Unfortunately, the exploitation of womens body language in the cosmetics ads, less attention to ethical and religious views of the majority of Muslims in Indonesia, so the ad tend ignore the interests of general public and particularly children, adolescents, and women themselves.

Abstract

The Information Technologies are growing fast. One of them is Internet. There are various applications to share information offered in Internet. WebTV is one of them. WebTV is interactive television using Internet as its distribution media. WebTV can be watched all the time, both delay or direct broadcasting.There are some main benefits of WebTV compared with common television are: there are no competition in getting frequency, the consumers are not limited by time to watch their preferred programs, there is an interaction in internet in using such services as e-mail, chat, e-commerce, e-government, e-education, digital trend influences the compound of television and internet, One of the strategies used in television industry is increasing the brand image.

All year of 2002 in Indonesia, West media especially media in United States of America (USA) preference not balance to report issues about global terrorism from USA goverment. There are preference from part of media in West World which they see Islam via the news as believing violence and Islam peoples as source of global terroris wheares Islam as rahmatan lil alamin. This issues gives positive and negative effect for muslim in the world especially in Indonesia.
