Gadjah Mada Journal of Psychology (Gamajop) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in Psychology published by the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Gadjah Mada Journal of Psychology (Gamajop) aims to facilitate interaction, discussion, and further the advancement of ideas among Indonesian psychological scientists. We welcome articles from any psychology-related subjects that could fall under these sub-themes: Social Relation, Psychometrics, Mind, Brain and Performance, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Change and Development, Life Span and Development, Psychology of Education. It aims at creating an international forum for scholarly investigations, debates and discussions that would contribute towards advancing our basic knowledge of psychology. Abstract

The research was purposed to know how cognitive dissonance of gay related towards patrilineal culture in Bali. Subjects of this research were two Balinese born gay. Each of the subjects have two significant others. The subjects were selected by theory based/operational construct sampling method to make sure that its represent the real phenomenon and compatible to the purpose of the research. The research used qualitative method with phenomenology approach through analysis model by Purwandari (2007). Method of the sampling was an interview with list of questions based on purpose of the research. The result showed that there was a different level of cognitive dissonance on both of subjects. It was based on their own background and causes of cognitive dissonance. The research also showed that there was a different effort from each of the subject to solved cognitive dissonance.

Abstract

This study aims to understand understanding the dynamics of passion in youth entrepreneurs when running a business. By understanding the dynamics of passion in running a business, youth entrepreneurs can understand the importance of passion's role to his business so as to avoid failure. In order to achieve these objectives, a phenomenological study was conducted on purposively selected participants, ie nascentor new bussiness entrepreneurs who have passion in entrepreneurship aged 18 to 34years. Data were collected using semi-structured phenomenological interviews, and analyzed using a phenomenological analysis approach. The results show that the dynamics of passion play an important role in the three series of areas of entrepreneurial activity: 1) product creation and development, 2) business establishment, 3) business development. While also found the aspects of personal, environmental and behaviour that affect the emergence of entrepreneurial passion on them.

Abstract

Stress is one of the psychological reactions that can be in a work situation. Work situations may change at any time in different forms. An employee's psychological reaction to change also varies. Job insecurity arising from changing work situations increases job stress. A company certainly does not want employees to experience work stress that can impact on the decline in company performance. The level of employeereligiosity is expected to reduce the impact of job insecurity. This study aims to determine the role of job insecurity against work stress moderated by religiosity. Job stress as dependent variable, job insecurity as independent variable, and religiosity as moderator. Methods of data retrieval were performed using work stress scale, job insecurity scale, and scale of religiosity. The subjects of this study were 119 employees working in the State Forestry Corporation. The hypothesis proposed in this study is religiosity as a moderator in the relationship between job insecurity with work stress. Moderate and hypothesis testis done by moderate regression analysis. The research result shows religiosity not proved as moderator in relationship between job insecurity with work stress, but directly significant impact to work.

Abstract

One of the factors that contribute to the athlete’s perfomance is his emotional state. Athletes who are emotionally unstable tend to be more easily expressed aggression in front of opponents. This research aims to investigate the relationship between emotional intellegence and aggressiveness among futsal athlete. It was hypothesized that there a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and aggressiveness. There were 111 futsal athletes of University X from many faculties in this research. Data analysis using Product Moment correlation technique from Pearson showed rxy=-0.488 with p<0,01 pointing out that there is significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and aggressiveness among futsal athlete. That result proved that hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

This study was designed to measure how big the role of job dissatisfaction (job dissatisfaction) to the employee's desire to leave his work (turnover intention) with moderated by stability of anchors. Method used in this present study is quantitative method by distributing questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of job dissatisfaction scale, turnover intention scale, and anchor scale to discover anchor stability. Subjects ofthe study are 267 permanent employees who work in banking sector. The results of the study indicate that anchor stabilization is not evidenced to influence relationship between job dissatisfaction and turnover intention. However, anchors such as materials, others and virtues are believed to influence relationship between job dissatisfaction and employees' turnover intention. Factor of job dissatisfaction which most influences turnover intention in this study is employee dissatisfaction with salary or rewards.
