Abstract

In the era of globalization, quality is an extremely important factor in educational institutions because competition among institutions is factual. In this respect, only institutions of education with quality can exist while others may be left behind and no longer functioning. In this case, the institutions do not determine the education quality but the consumers do. Therefore, it is necessary to think of an Islamic education model.

Abstract

Valuablenization is part of an attempt of integrating knowledge because the integration of knowledge means the unity of knowledge and religion. In the context of this article it means the loss of knowledge dichotomy and religion so that there is no boundary and classification between science and technology and moral values and ethics. Therefore, there is a need to have education which leads the students to appreciate moral values and ethics through the knowledge they have obtained at school towards morality and ethics that suit the mission of Islamic education. It is in such a context that there is a need to have a learning strategy which really brings the internalization of values in the students methodologically and systematically

Abstract

The learning method of Az-Zarnuji is monumentally stated in his work Ta’lim al-Muta’allim Thuruq al-Ta’allum. This book is recognized as a genius, monumental work and of great importance. In addition, this book has become a reference in scientific writing especially in the field of education. It has been used not only by Muslim scholars but also by orientalists and western writers. The learning methods in this book consist of thirteen sections whereby every point is of a great value because the learning methods being developed by Az-Zarnuji in that book is not only strategic but also ethical such as giving an emphasis on moral aspects to the students, the choice of science, teachers and friends, trust in God, being patient in difficulty, respecting teachers, books and others. These worthy points are not included in modern learning methods. The strategic learning methods has, of course, been relevant to the modern learning methods such as discussion (muzakarah), munazarah, mutharahah, managing time for studying and reviewing lessons and many others.

Abstract

Morality as human reasoning in determining something must be in line with what is determined by religious normativity so that morality will always be marked by men’s attempt to perform religious instructions. This is because the rationality and men’s logic always need good and virtuous things, whereas religious norms contain good values and good deeds required. So, what is stated in religious norms will automatically be accepted by men’s logic that does need them. This is to say that there is a significant relationship between men’s freedom in choosing moral values and obeying religious teachings and normativity.

Abstract

When compared with others, Watt was an honest orientalist when looking at Islam. His view of al-Qur’an is scientific and he is impersonal towards Christianity. Therefore, he defines revelation (Alqur’an) as the reality which is suitable with modern scientific perspective. He interprets Alqur’an historically so that it can always exist in the modern world and being communicative at all times. Watt wants al-Qur’an to develop and that it remains communicative in all contemporary situations and conditions. Given al-Qur’an has been studied and discussed for sometime, Muslims and even on-Muslim should therefore study it in an up to date manner. In fact, there is now an inter-religious phenomenon which sees the relationship between Islam and Christianity going well tunity or external environment as a challenge. The reposition of Islamic education in madrasah, modernization of boarding houses, and autonomy in higher education are the expectations of all sides in order to achieve good quality education which is managed by professional technical practitioners.

Abstract

When the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be up Him) was still alive, the shohabats’ were not interested in talking about philosophy or details and meticulous explanation. They learned ablution, did prayers, went to Makkah for Hajj, paid ‘zakat’ and dealt with other religious components by following what was done by the Prophet. They also did not classify which parts of the Prophet’s behavior that contained arkan (rukun-rukun) and nadah (sunat). When were cases, they came to the Prophet and asked for his advice for decisions. After the Prophet passed away, the expansion of Islam territory was great; as a result people were faced with various traditions, cultures, and complicated problems that needed solving. In overcoming the problems a character was found that colored the thinking model in handling the Islamic laws which is more known as ‘Rational Figh’. This ‘rational fiqh’ was born because of such factors as intellectual legacy, structural and cultural factors.

Abstract

Sea is part of the earth. Men have the rights and responsibility to make use of it and manage it. But more importantly to bear mind is that sea is the grant from God provided for men. Men have not only the rights to explore it but also the responsibility to maintain it for the next generations who also have the rights to do so. So far, sea has not been utilized properly, the aspect of marine conservation has been neglected; consequently, sea has become severely contaminated. The improper treatment towards the sea occurs because of the secular views which are not based on religious values but merely based on obtaining more profit without considering moral aspects and the interest of mankind as embraced by the West (capitalism).

Abstract

Criticisms which always come up in Islamic Education is a doctrinal, dogmatic learning model that gives no freedom to learners. This study attempts to describe an Islamic learning model that is based on the paradigm of freedom. It is theoretically on the basis of the epistemology of Paulo Friere on oppressed people. According to him the oppressed people who internalize themselves with those oppressing them and adapted themselves with their way of thinking will bring a feeling of severe threat. Actually, they need real freedom and responsibility, not the freedom provided by Friere. There is no doubt that Islamic education is emancipation i.e. releasing people from being shackled in any form that is expected to encourage them to be brave to obey God’s instructions. Islam prioritizes mankind, upholds democratic values and justice, appreciates what men have done, teaches people how to speak truly and behave properly, and loves the week and the oppressed. It is in this position that freedom fits those values.

Abstract

Iman al-Haramain was a classical thinker who put his political study in his books among others ‘Fiqh’ Ushul Fiqh and Theology. As a central figure in theology al-Asy’ari and Fiqh al-Syafii persuasion, he was influenced by socio-cultural condition at the time. Besides, he was also very dynamic in using his reasoning towards various political problems. This was supported by his ability in mastering the science of logic (mantiq) and philosophy. In his political thinking Imam al-Haramain looked unique so that he was often in different opinion with other Sunnipolitical thinkers such as Shihab al-Din Ahmad Ibn Rabi’, Al-Baqillani, Al-Baghdadi, Al-Mawardi, Al-Ghazali, Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun ny others.
