Abstract

The Methodology of Innovation of Islamic Laws in the Perspective of Hazairin : Islamic laws were made and established in order to achieve people’s prosperity (maslahat’ummah). Laws which are ta’abbudi have been put in detail; therefore the issue of faith has no longer become a reasoning competence. Laws in the area of mu’amalah  in accordance with the revelation and logic (ra’yu) have been used as a means of struggle to gain prosperity because these laws are flexible in nature, perfect (takamul), balanced (tawazun), harmonious, dynamic and also balanced with all their components. It means that they are up to date, not rigid and not static.Hazairin is one of the figures of the innovation of Islamic laws in Indonesia who was involved in studying contemporary issues using a deductive method and employing normative analysis and sociological, anthropological approach

Abstract

God Justice in the Perspective of Murtadha Muthahhari:  In the modern century, Islamic thinkers attempt to explain what God justice is and how it is. One of them is Murtadha Muthahhari, an Islamic intellectual from Iran. He discusses God justice in a book entitled ’al-‘Adl al-Ilahi. From the analysis it is found out that the meaning of justice according to Murtadha Muthahhari is the retention of rights, in the sense that something that exists (maujud) has its own existence and perfection that have become its rights to some degree and in line with the possibility it can fulfill. This is a social justice, and at the same time, it is as the mercy and reward from God that should be gained by His creatures through their capabilities on the basis of the cause and effect rule or Sunnatullah.

Abstract

The Basic Consept of Rabbanians : Man as the caliph of God on the earth are the central of change in performing His instructions. They are the ones who spread moral values to behave according to what has been set forth by God. In this respect, education is a means to achieve the target where men are the main actors (educators) for the sake of their lives in the world and in the Hereafter. So, by understanding basic knowledge, knowing every aspect, understanding the essence of creation and fulfilling every dimension of mankind seem to be a certainty before integrally doing other tasks in the form of something natural, human, and hermeneutic. It is for these reasons that this article reveals the conception of Al-Quran about men and God’s guidance towards human beings in order to enable them to become ones who have knowledge and  who fear of their Lord where their activities are based on the values as desired by the Creator.

Abstract

The Function of Institutions in the Implementation of Autonomy in Education: A Study on Institutions and Human Resources : The implementation of good quality and equitable education is facing more complex challenges. Educational institutions which do not function properly and the low quality of human resources are the main factors besides other factors that need immediate attention in the world of Islamic education. The efficiency in education does require more decentralized management, as a matter of fact. The function of institutions in the implementation of autonomy in the area of Islamic education in particular should be able to manage and apply educational techniques autonomously either in the field of School-Based Management, organization, personnel, curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, studentship, cost and public relations as an opportunity or external environment as a challenge. The reposition of Islamic education in madrasah, modernization of boarding houses, and autonomy in higher education are the expectations of all sides in order to achieve good quality education which is managed by professional technical practitioners.

Abstract

Successful School Leadership in Indonesia: Perspectives of the Principals: Principals exert considerable influence on schools, with the most opportunity and responsibility for exercising leadership that will enhance school outcomes. Research on successful schools invariably links the success with successful principal leadership. Yet, there are a few studies that have explored successful principal leadership in Asian contexts, a fewer still that do so within an Islamic culture. This article explores principals’ leadership in Indonesian successful secondary schools from the principals’ perspectives. Whilst confirming several common practices of successful school leadership from earlier research, the principals from the three successful schools inYogyakarta also demonstrated significant differences, particularly in terms of beliefs and values that underpinned the leadership. These values include Islamic and cultural beliefs and values which were strong and enduring, and articulated in the school leadership and strategies. The principals demonstrated ability in developing the school vision, setting strategies, building capacity, and establishing a broader network for the benefits of the school improvement.

Abstract

The Method of Istinbath of Muhammad bin Ismail as-Shan’ani in the Book ‘Subul al-Salam’ : The book Subul- al-Salam written by Muhammad bin Isma’il as-Shan’ani is one of the references in the area of law in the Muslim community especially in Indonesia. This book is the elaboration (syarah) of a book entitled Bulugh al-Maram written by Ibnu Hajar al-Asqalani that contains hadis about laws. As a book used as a reference by most people, it is therefore necessary to know the legal method of istinbath of its writer for the purpose of theoretical framework. In this respect, it could be defined that the method of istinbath applied by Muhammad bin Isma’il as –Shan’ani is based on al-Qur’an, al-Hadis, al-Ijma’ and al-Qiyas. The logic of its istinbath relies more on the logic used by Imam as-Syafi’i who used al-Qura’n, al-Hadis, al-Ijma’, and  al-Qiayas for the istinbath of the laws, just like Muhammad bin Isma’il as-Shan’ani. As-Shan’ani himself does not apply any other methods because as-Shan’ani in the book Subul al-Salam only elaborates the texts of hadis contained in the book Bulugh al-Maram, the work of Ibnu hajar al-Asqalani. When giving the istinbath, as-Shan was not at all influenced by place and time in that period, in the sense that the istinbath was based on texts available in Bulugh al-Maram

Abstract

Model of Higher Education Development: A Study on the Existence and Challenge of PTAI and the Change of IAIN to UIN : The rationale behind change of the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) to the State Islamic University (UIN) is that Islam makes no discrimination between religious knowledge and general knowledge. The change of this status actually gives UIN a broader mandate compared to IAIN, that is, providing the community at large with the knowledge of Islam. This is in line with the new paradigm in higher education that has been formulated in national and international levels of education which, at the same time, studies the existence, opportunity and option being offered to develop itself to become a competitive higher education institution. UIN is in fact different from other general higher education institutions and even different from other Islamic higher education institutions. UIN should be able to relate its teaching materials to Islamic messages so that it is expected to produce Muslim scholars who possess two areas of knowledge, knowledge in science and technology and knowledge in the field of Islamic perspectives.
