Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see how and to what extent self-reflection of teachers has contributed to the development efforts of professionalism. The study involved a total of 120 elementary school teachers in the province of Lampung. Sampling was done by random sampling. The research instrument in the form of teachers perceptions questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using linear regression analysis. The results of this study suggested that teacher self-reflection significantly contribute positively to professional conduct and professional development efforts amounted to 35.1% (p <0.05). In other words, if the reflection is done with good teachers, efforts are being made to develop professionalism is also good.

Abstract

This research is about speech act of command on a dialog in Laskar Pelangi film and its implications on Indonesian learning at SMP. A descriptive qualitative method is used in this study. The findings of the research show that there two types of speech act of command, that is, direct and indirect.  The direct commands comprise (1) usual command indicated by basic verb; (2) request command indicated by coba, nak, mohon, suffix –kan, and –lah; (3) invitation command indicated by ayo, ayolah, dan yuk; (4) ordering commands marked by  biar; (5) compelling command indicated by cepat dan harus; and (6) prohibition command marked by jangan, ndak usah,  ndak boleh, ndak kurang and janganlah. By contrast, indirect commands consist of the following modes (1) questioning, (2) asking, (3) rejecting, (4) advising, (5) expressing facts, (6) involving other people, (7) and praising. The types of context used are (1) temporal, (2) situational, (3) spatial, and (4) existence of surrounding people.

Abstract

This development research aims at determining: (1) the feasibility of P2OEW learning model on pollution subject, (2) the effectiveness of P2OEW learning model product to the learning outcomes, (3) the differences of students learning outcomes before and after the implementation. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) modified as follows: (1) a preliminary investigation and information gathering, (2) planning, (3) developing a form of the initial product, (4) conducting   limited testing, (5) conducting revision of major products, (6) field trials, and (7) revising the product. The results show that (1) P2OEW learning model eligibility category is very good after field trials; (2) the improvement of students learning outcomes is medium after trials; (3) there are differences in students learning outcomes based on statistical test, i.e. differences in students learning outcomes before and after trials.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the influence of leadership and teamwork toward the work ethics of teachers at the State Vocational High Schools. This research is conducted using using survey method with Path-analysis technique. Eighty teachers are randomly selected as a sample. Based on the research finding, it could be concluded that: first, the leadership has positive direct effect to work ethics—the improvement of leadership will lead to the increasing work ethics; second, the leadership has positive direct effect to teamwork—the improvement of leadership will lead to the increasing teamwork; and third; teamwork has positive direct effect to work ethics—the improvement of teamwork will lead to the increasing work ethics. Finally, the work ethics can be improved by the increasing leadership and teamwork.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe and explain the code switching (CS) and code mixing (CM) form, the factors that cause the occurrence of CS and CM and also the impact of CS and CM in Indonesian learning. This research uses descriptive qualitative and sociolinguistic approach. The data are the speech of teachers and students of class X containing elements of CS and CM. The techniques of collecting data are observation and interview. The testing validity of the data uses triangulate source technique. Technique of analyzing data uses interactive analysis method. The results of the research show that (1) the forms of CS are done internally and externally. The forms of CM are insertion word, phrase, clause, word repetition, and expression; (2) the causative factors of CS include speakers, opponent side, the presence of the third speaker, the subject to evoke the sense of humor. The factors that cause CM include the willingness to explain caused by the situation and the willingness to establish the familiarity between teachers and students; (3) AK and CS have the positive and negative impact to the learning Indonesian at class X.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the results of the students self-evaluation on their retained competence. This survey belongs to descriptive, quantitative, comparative, and associative research. The subjects of the study are 34 students of Automotive Engineering, D3 Vocational Program of Engineering Faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The data were collected by using questionnaire and documents. The data were analyzed with descriptive and non-parametric statistics. The result shows that the average score of the students self-evaluation on their automotive competence was 2.9667. Of the five groups of expertise, the motor group got the highest score (3.18), and the chassis group got the lowest (2.56). The students self- evaluation on automotive expertise has no correlation to their learning achievement in each final semester (thit = -0.6573 < ttab = 2.0336).

Abstract

This study aims at explaining and describing: (1) various speech acts used in conversation between teachers and students in Indonesian learning; (2) the intentions of the conversations between teachers and students in Indonesian learning. This study uses qualitative research method. The data collection is done by observation and record. Data analysis is done by using flowing technique. The results of the study can be concluded as follows (1) teachers and students use locution, illocution, and per locution speech acts in learning process; (2) the intentions behind the utterances of teachers and students are to order, to motivate, to clarify, to strengthen, to entertain, and to conclude. Thus, the conversations between teachers and students use direct and indirect speech act in learning Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the results of the development of guided inquiry-based worksheets and (2) the quality of the product development guided inquiry- based worksheets. This study refers to the model of research and development (R & D) of Borg & Gall. The results of this study concluded: (1) On stage: (a) preliminary studies needed LKS, (b) the planning and development of the initial product produced draft II LKS, (c) the preliminary field test produced a draft III, (d) the resulting field trials Draft IV, (e) the operational field test produced a draft of V (final product); and (2) the quality of the development of products obtained CV of 0.79 which indicates that the worksheets can be resumed in the test phase obtained an average rating "very good", the average student and teacher questionnaire responses obtained the rating "very good", and the percentage mastery learning outcomes of students of class XI IPA 1 SMA Batik 1 Surakarta by 94.12% and XI IPA 2 SMA Batik 2 Surakarta by 82.86% so that both can be expressed completely in the classical style.
