Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the developing process of a character education model based integrated learning and (2) construct a prototype component of character education models based integrated learning. The study is close to the research & development (Gall, Gall & Borg, 2003). The research development form that applied in the development of character education models in elementary school is done by following a modification as described by Sukmadinata (2007). The development procedure includes the stages of: (1) preliminary study, (2) development stage, (3) model testing stage, and (4) dissemination of the final product in the form of manual publication for teachers. This research takes subjects on Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, whereas in this research located in 5 District of Surakarta City. Data sources include the informant, records, and documents, as well as places and events. Data analysis by using interactive analysis techniques to analyze the data about the model prototype and qualitative analysis to determine the product reliability through limited testing in the field by teachers who have attended the workshop. The results can be noted that: (1) The development process of a character education model based integrated learning in the theme of Indonesian language learning in elementary school to capture the teachers needs in implementing the character education. In a preliminary study found teachers needs in form of syllabus development and design of Indonesian language learning programs in which integrated with character education; and (2) prototype component of character education models based integrated learning in the theme of Indonesian language learning in elementary school.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce learning materials based print media combined with animation learning media that can improve students understanding of Engineering Mechanics 1 course. The subjects were students of Building Engineering Education in Program in first semester that following the Engineering Mechanics I course in the academic year of 2011/2012. The research object is the development of teaching materials and animation learning media. The products resulting from this research is the print instructional material of Engineering Mechanics I and animation learning media for the Engineering Mechanics I learning. While student results after using the product of this study were as follows: 91.5% of students found to have passed the competency with 61% getting a very satisfying (A), 28.8% good (B), 1.7% sufficient (C), and 8.5% less (D).

Abstract

Vocational School (SMK) is one type of secondary education institutions in Indonesia, the education organization are designed to prepare students enter the workforce or continue their education to the next level that are specific. Today not a few graduates of vocational students are still experiencing difficulties in entering employment. This problem is due to lack of jobs and also because of the quality and relevance of school leavers are still low. Due to the low quality of learning achievement of school graduate, they find difficult to get jobs in government institution and business or industry, so SMK is directed to maintain the quality and relevance. Related to the SMK quality, that measured from the quality and relevance of graduates with employment needs. While the field needs capacity continues to grow according to the needs of DU / DI and development of applied technology, so to maintain the education quality, the SMK continually develop them. As for relevance, seen from the planning, implementation, evaluation and benefits, so that SMK must preserved their graduates according to the needs of business world and the industry world. Industry Work Practice (Prakerin) at SMK is one vehicle to look at the suitability of the SMK curriculum to the DU/DI needs.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to calculate population projection of Jakarta. Based on the population projection data, the population and age groups on Play Group School, Elementary School, Primary School and High School in the future could be calculated. Descriptive explorative method is used to explain the data. Component method from FIVSIN software is used to calculate population projection. Afterwards, Beers method from Micro Computer Programs for Demographic Analysis Program is used to break five-year age groups to single years. The research shows that the population in Ja-karta was sharply increasing, but the age groups of Elementary School, Primary School and High School were gradually decreasing. There were two factors that influenced it. The first, natural increase gradually occurred every year that resulted from fertility rate minus mortality rate. The second, life time migration and net migration affected the increasing population rapidly. While the age groups of age school was decreasing as a result of successful family-planning program to reduce fertility rate in Jakarta.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the quality of teaching-learning Multicultural Education-based Social Science using Contextual Teaching and Learning in SMP Negeri 19 Surakarta. This research was conducted using a classroom action research method. This research consists of some actions aiming to improve the Multicultural Education Based-Social Science Teaching-Learning using Contextual Teaching and Leaning in SMP Negeri 19 Surakarta. The subject of the research was the VIII graders of SMP Negeri (Public Junior High School) 19. Meanwhile the object was Teaching-Learning Process, including: teachers teaching activity, students learning activity, and learning circumstance. The approach used was participatory collaborative approach between the researchers, teachers, and students, so that there was sharing occurring in activity stage. This research was reflective in nature, meaning to improve the rational steadiness of action undertaken. This research was carried out using cycles encompassing four stages: planning acting, observing, and reflecting. This research was done in two cycles: the first cycle as the implementation of action, and the second cycle as the improvement. The problem of the research was the low quality of Social Science Teaching- Learning Process, because of the teachers low teaching skill. It was characterized by: the teachers, who were less capable of making teaching preparation, less mastery on the material, teaching without material development, monotonous teaching method, less capability of implementing the learning procedure, and teachers less capability of establishing harmonic relationship. The teachers low teaching skill leads to the students low learning activity. To improve the quality of learning, the researchers took some measures (actions): discussion about the essence of Social Science learning, in which the multicultural values are also discussed; discussion about learning models, particularly contextual teaching and learning; training of learning implementation plan develop-ment; and holding learning model course in the form of peer teaching. After those measures were taken, and the results were implemented in teaching learning process, the quality of teaching- learning process improves from one cycle to another. It could be seen from: the improvement in the learning implementation of plan development skill, in the capability of implementing Social Science learning using CTL, and capability of instilling the multicultural values. The improvement of teaching-learning quality process leads to the improvement of students learning activity and learning circumstance.

TEKNIK PEER-CORRECTION DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MENULIS UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENGUASAAN KAIDAH BAHASA INDONESIA SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA

Abstract

This studys purpose is to improve the editing activity and grammar mastery in the learning of writing on junior high school students by implementing peer-correction technique. The strategy chosen is classroom action research that is done in 3 cycles. The subjects are students of class VIII A in Penda Mojogedang Junior High School in Karanganyar regency, which is one of schools in the village. The study result shows that the implementation of peer-correction technique could improve the quality of the learning process of writing, especially in the grammar mistakes editing activity and bahasa Indonesia grammar mastery. This is indicated by the increase in the number of students getting motivated and becoming active during the grammar mistakes editing process of their peers essay. The increase in number of students who are getting better in their bahasa Indonesia writing grammar, which is indicated by the decrease in the number of mistakes of the next essay, also shows that the implementation of peer-correction works in coping with the problem. The method of how this peer-correction technique is done, is as followed: (1) after finished developing the out line into an essay draft, students swap their draft with one of their classmates, (2) students together with the teacher choose one of the grammar rule intended to be discussed in editing, (3) teacher shows examples of the mistakes on the chosen aspects and how to mark it, (4) student identifies and marks the mistakes found, (5) student corrects the grammar mistakes found, (6) student returns the corrected essay to the essay owner, (7) student learns the correction done on the essay by his/her classmate so that when he/she finds a problem related to the correction, he/she could discuss it with the teacher, and (8) student re-writes the essay to be displayed in the wall magazine.

Abstract

The increasing on the Textbook price causes the government in providing the quality textbooks called Book Electronic School (BSE). In fact and however,  there are still many errors in the books content. Therefore, this study analyzes a descriptive approach by using content analysis technique aimed to describe the content quality on the electronic text book towards the basic competence from Ministry of Education by Sutarto Et al. The result shows the content is much different from the curriculum. The truth of fairly well-defined concept is good enough and the concrete concept is less than expected. Furthermore, the use of language is less precise and the media is only used as an illustration.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the constructivist learning course on the subject Teaching and Learning Strategies of Cooperative Learning Strategies with the help of e-learning. Product specifications are produced syllabus, modules or teaching materials, student work sheet and test. This research is the development of research using the model developed by 4 D Thiagarajan, Semmel & Semmel and consists of a definition phase (define), stage design (design), stage of development (develop) and stage of deployment (disseminate). The subjects in this study was the student of class V in 2010 semesters in the Department of Geography Education Faculty of Social Science State University of Surabaya, which is divided into the experimental class (with e-learning) and control classes (no e-learning or conventional). The results showed that the learning outcomes have been done based on the model developed 4 D. Motivation of students using e-learning support at 92.5% and without the help of e-learning is 62.6%. As for the results of pre-test and post-test for the experimental class and control class t-test after an increase or no significant difference of 6,24045E-10 and 1,34037E-07. The conclusion of this research is the development of constructivist learning can be done with the help of e-learning in which students can independently and without any restrictions psychologically able to develop ideas, ideas and express themselves more freely than conventional learning.
