Abstract

This study examines whether the method of learning “goal setting model” is applied to the subjects of research methods is better than the classical method. This learning method aims to improve the quality of graduates through the course Research Methods. Some conclusions can be obtained in the application of methods of goal setting model on Research Methods courses, that is: graduation rates for student is 96.15% and only 1 (one) person (3.85%) who did not pass. It shows the level of student understanding of the Research methods course materials.

Abstract

The aims of the study are: (1) to describe the implementation of teaching learning process of immersion program at SMAN 4 Surakarta; (2) to identify the advantages and the weaknesses of immersion program; and (3) to describe how to develop the immersion program in the future. The research was conducted in descriptive qualitative approach based on field observation, questionnaires and interviews to some stakeholders, such as students, parents, teachers, and the director of immersion program at SMAN 4 Surakarta. The result shows that: (1) the immersion program has been conducted since 2003/2004 academic year by implementing seven subject matters taught in English: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology; History, Economics, and Geography; (2) Prior to immersion implementation, the teachers joined the Classroom English Course for one year (3) The use of English in teaching learning process was done gradually; (4) Both teachers and students are highly motivated in conducting and joining this program; (5) Great supports come from the well-educated parents; (8) Some facilities (e.g. reference books and teaching media) are available for supporting this program; and (9) the output (the graduates) of  this program were all successful and all accepted in universities. The advantages of this program, among others, are: both the teachers and students feel motivated to increase their English skills; besides that, they feel self-confident for increasing their knowledge due to their English skills. On the other hand, the weaknesses, among others, are: some teachers still need guidance in the classroom, and the students should think twice in understanding the subject matters (especially at the beginning of this program) understanding English and understanding the matters themselves. For the development in the future, it is necessary for the institution to provide this program with some more complete infra/supra structures. In line with the stakeholders’ optimism on this program, the institution hopes that the government, especially the Regency of Surakarta, would give more attention and fund for developing this program, especially the human resources to be qualified.

Abstract

To the effect this research (1) describe needs analysis of Learning Model Based Character of Verbal Tradition in The Elementary Schools; (2) formulate design of Learning Model Based Character of Verbal Tradition in The Elementary Schools For The Cultivation of Moral Values In a Nations Character Building; (3) find of Learning Model Based Character of Verbal Tradition in The Elementary Schools For The Cultivation of Moral Values In a Nations Character Building; This research method is a type of qualitative research with the analytical model used is an interactive model. Research sites are located at five elementary schools at Surakarta. The  findings on this research are: (1) Analysis of learning needs in elementary school in this study were obtained from the identification of problems in learning activities that are reviewed in terms of teachers and students. (2) Formulation of the design model of learning in elementary character-based verbal traditions carried through the stages of moral development or the process as follows (a) preparing the foundation of the characters, (b) modeling learning through verbal tradition-based learning model, (c) the development of knowledge/understanding of morality; (d) the development of moral feelings, and (e) the development of moral action; (3) Alternative learning model developed in character-based learning through the verbal tradition of tales methods, role playing and puppet suket. The model is based on the verbal Tradition of learning is done by integrating some of the relevant subjects, like subjects Civics, Indonesian Language and SBK (arts culture and skills); (4) Learning verbal tradition for the cultivation of moral values will be able to develop the character of the nation.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the significance effect of the model of Crossectional Cognitive Programming (CCP) for internalizing the spirit of entrepreneurship at school. The research involved 42 teachers as participants came from three different level of education namely elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school. All participants were given a model of CCP in book form and trained in a workshop a day before applying the CCP model. Based on data analysis by using technique of t-test the researchers found a significant score 0,003. The result shows a significant change between before applying and after applying the model of CCP for internalizing the spirit of entrepreneurship at school.  This research is relevant with Jufri and Pandang (2010) findings about CCP model at school. These findings also supported by Henry, Hill, and Leitch (2005) previous research about teaching several aspects of entrepreneurship education. The similar result also published by Yarzebinski (1992), Yarzebinski concluded that training of entrepreneurship is a possible way of internalizing the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Cooperative Learning Model Bamboo Dance Type to improve the learning activity and achievement in Biology Lesson. The research aims to improve the student activity and learning achievement in Biology lesson by using Cooperative Learning Model Bamboo Dancing Type. The method used is classroom action research. The success observed in this study based on indicators of activity and the percentage of student learning achievement is obtained based on the daily tests on each cycle. The results showed there is increase in the percentage of students activity in each cycle. Increase of students activity value was positively correlated to the value of daily tests and completeness of student learning.

Abstract

This research aims at developing learning model using mapping concept strategy in order to make  students are able to understand the subject of Principles of Financial and  Accountancy well. This study is classroom action research. The research is conducted through three cycles. Each cycle consists of four phases: (1) planning, (2) implementing, (3) observing and interpreting, and (4) analyzing and reflecting the subject of the research is third semester students of Economic Education Study Program in FKIP UNS. The data collecting techniques used are observation, questionnaire and test. The result of this research shows that 78% of the students got score 70 while 22% of them did not reach passing grade. Based on the data above it can be concluded that using mapping concept strategy can improve students understanding in Principles of Financial and Accountancy subject. This is supported by the condition in which students are able to understand and develop the concept so that they can improve their achievement in teaching learning process.

Abstract

Problem in this research is: (1) How developing instructional strategy of geography which suited for matters is having characteristic visual dominance, (2) How knowing effectiveness of instructional strategy of geography for matters is having characteristic visual dominance. This development research done with matter expert validity test and instructional expert. This research method applies model R&D. This research requires student to test instructional strategy effectiveness developed. Result of inferential research as follows: (1) instructional strategy of geography developed assessed it is good to is applied alternatively solution in teaching matter having visual dominance character. This thing is as according to result of validation from matter expert and instructional expert, and also product testing, (2) Instructional strategy product of geography developed is effective is applied alternatively solution to teach matter geography having visual dominance characteristic. This thing is proved with improvement of ability of student in analyzing instructional matter.

Abstract

Purpose of the study wanted to determine whether there is influence of study habits, motivation, and interpersonal communication on student learning achievement. This study uses a quantitative approach. Population research is all students majoring in science education FKIP UNCEN totaled 798 people. Drawdown samples using proportional stratified random sampling technique, and the sample size formula based on Frank Lynch in Kerlinger and Pedhazun is 86 students. Independent variables consisted of study habits (X1) motivation to learn (X2) and interpersonal communication (X3). The dependent variable is students learning achievement (Y). Collecting data using: (1) Questionnaires, (2) Interviews, (3) Observations, (4) Literature studies, and (5) Internet searching. The instrument testing techniques is using validity and reliability technique of testing. To know the size of independent variables affect the dependent variables are used multiple linear regression analysis method. As for the findings in this study were: (1) students’ learning habits has positive effect on student learning achievement, (2) motivation to learn has positive effect on student learning achievement, (3) communication or interpersonal relationship has no effect on student learning achievement, (4) study habits, motivation, and interpersonal communication with students in the same way has positive effect on student learning achievement. These findings indicate that the higher and the better study habits, motivation and personal communication between students, it will affect the improvement of students’ learning achievement.
