PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN MATEMATIKA REALISTIK DAN KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN DALAM PEMBALAJARAN MATEMATIKA

Abstract

This study aims to reveal mathematics achievement between students taught by conventional and realistic mathematics approaches; between students of high and low reasoning ability, and to know interaction of learning approach and reasoning ability to mathematics achievement. This type of research is experimental studies using 2 x 2 factorial design of same cell. Sampling was conducted by purposive random sampling. Learning outcomes data are collected by conducting test and   reasoning ability data are collected by giving questionnaires prepared pursuant to Likert scale. The data then are analyzed by Anova statistics 2 x 2 factorial design in the 0.01 significance level. The results showed that there are significant differences (1) between the realistic and conventional learning approach in mathematics learning outcomes F test: F table = 30.84 > 5.80 (0.01), (2) between students having high and low reasoning ability in mathematics learning outcomes F test: F table = 74.36 > 5.80 (P < 0.01), (3) there is an interaction between the learning approach with reasoning abilities and mathematics learning outcomes F test: F table= 13.69 > 5.80 (P < 0.01). The conclusion of this study is that realistic mathematics learning approach is more effective than conventional approach in students mathematics achievement. Students reasoning ability is in line with the students mathematics learning outcomes, and learning approach and reasoning ability are very significant in enhancing students learning outcomes in mathematics.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) develop and implement an integrated teaching materials based on various sources which are integrated through problem-based learning (Multisource Integrated Problem Based Learning / IM-PBL) in subjects Radio-chemistry; 2) identify students competence improvement and role in teaching learning process. The research was conducted in two cycles. The research subjects in this study were students of Chemical Education Studies Program FKIP UNS Surakarta fourth semester of 2009/2010. The objects of this study are the level of mastery and under-standing of the concepts of Radiochemistry and the development of IM-PBL. The research data are obtained through questionnaire, interview, and test. The results showed that: (l) The developed IM-PBL has been implemented on Radio-chemistry course, (2) Implementation of IM-PBL could increase students competence in Radio-chemistry subject; and (3) Implementation of IM-PBL has been able to increase students participation in teaching learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe: (1) preparation of teachers in teaching writing scientific paper, (2) implementation of learning writing scientific paper, (3) learning  writing scientific paper, and (4) barriers and solutions in learning writing scientific paper. The research methods used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Techniques of data collection are conducted by interview, observation and document analysis. The sampling technique is done by using purposive sampling. Data validation techniques used are the triangulation of data, triangulation methods, and review of informants. The results show that: (1) teachers have made good preparation for their teaching such as preparing syllabi, lesson plans, media, teaching materials, and evaluation systems (2) implementation of learning writing scientific paper ran well. This is indicated by: (a) teachers apply a variety of approaches, methods, and techniques; (b) classroom interaction is active, communicative, and productive, (c) classroom-based assessment is used for assessment of process and product that include aspects of cognitive, affective, and psycho-motor; (3) students competence in writing is good enough. It can be seen from their average score i.e. 7.0. Most of students scientific paper  come from direct observation of the field, and the rest comes from book sources; (4) Problems faced in the classroom can be solved by continuous treatments.

Abstract

This research aims to know the effectiveness of career planning guidance model for the student through counselor and lecturer collaboration to strive for teaching university through multicultural approach. This study was a part of the developmental research with three steps: survey, evaluation, and experimental. The survey was conducted in the first year to know the supporting conditions which were related to the research or the model product to be developed. In the second year, the experimental or  treatment and evaluation were conducted to apply  the model and to know its effectiveness.  The population of this research were the students of Sebelas Maret University (UNS). The 121 samples were drawn by cluster purposive sampling, containing the students of Special Educational Program of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty; Biological Department of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, and Indonesian Department of the Art and Literature Faculty. Techniques of  collecting data used are interview, questionnaire, documents, and achievement test. Data were analyzed by using of percentage, t test and qualitative description. The  result of the research showed that career planning guidance model was effective for guiding the student in improving the index of learning achievement, the on time study, and the career maturation. Besides, the result showed that the career maturation correlated to the attitude to career r =  0,420 with P = 0,000 (very significant), and the  career maturation correlated to the competency to career r = 0,351with P=0,000. Ha was received and Ho was rejected.  It meant that career planning guidance models is effective to realize teaching university by multicultural approach.

Abstract

This article discusses about the influence of human resources ability on countrys growth and development. One of the ways to develop human resources is trough education. Education is the most important thing for everyone to develop their own ability. We can also say that education, in general, is the empowerment process, a process to explore self potency individually. This one can give benefits to the country. In an education process, students pay the education cost and ignore any chances to get income (opportunity cost). Rationally education cost in a education process is important. Decision to choose continuing education or finding jobs are analyzed by considering education cost that need to be paid and the benefit that is received after graduation. For this analysis, methods that can be used are: (1) payback method, (2) internal rate of return method, (3) net present value method. Based on education investments calculation in payback method, IRR and NPV support that education investments in senior high schools in Indonesia is full of advantages. These education investments give value for student after 7 years and 8 months period (payback period). Education is an important instrument for every nation to improve their ability in facing the problems related to politics, economies, laws, and cultures. The more intensive a nation did education investment, the more advantages of increasing human resources ability it has. If this nation wants to be successful, education should be put as a long term investment.

Abstract

This research aims at developing the product of interactive media based macromedia-flash for basic reading writing learning with interactive approach to be implemented in poor regions of Surakarta. The research method is research and development method (R&D).  The data analysis technique used is interactive model which consists of reducing data, exposing data, and drawing conclusion. The result of the research shows that: (1) the exploration stage recognized an interesting teaching media needs to be implemented in elementary school of poor regions in Surakarta and developed macromedia-flash based interactive media, (2) the development process was carried out through observation, interview, and workshop. Based on the test result, it is found that the effectiveness of interactive media with macromedia-flash can be used to improve the competence of elementary reading-writing effectively. The use of this media is sustainable over along period.

Abstract

This research aims at investigating the effectiveness of realistic mathematics learning in improving the understanding of multiplication concept of elementary school students. This study was positivistic approach, conducted by conceptual and operational, started by compiling hypothesis then followed a set of instrument designed to obtain the quantitative information so that it can be analyzed by statistical method to test the proposed hypothesis. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test as instrument. Examination of research hypothesis used statistical analysis of t test. The result of analysis shows t test value of -6.68 with value of p 0.000, so that Ho refused. It means that the mean of post-test is higher than pre-test. It shows the significant improvement of students understanding of multiplication concept after given treatment by realistic learning. Finally it can be said that learning by realistic mathematics approach is effective to improve the understanding of multiplication concept for students of  elementary school.

Abstract

This research aims at determining: (1) The relation of learning outcome to socioeconomic background of family, active in organization, and learning motivation and (2) the most effecting factors to the learning outcome. The data used in this study are primary data obtained by distributing questioners and secondary data obtained from the compulsory subjects of semester I, II, and III of the students of mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Udayana University. The data were collected by purposive sampling and then were analyzed by canonical correlation analysis. The results showed the significant relationship between socioeconomic background of family, active in organization, and learning motivation to the students learning outcomes. The variable having the smallest value is learning motivation that is equal 0.0000078. It means the learning motivation has the most significant influence to the learning outcomes with correlation value 0.7059023. While seen from the P value, factors that have the smallest value of P value are the most significant influenced factors to the learning outcomes that is parent education equal to 0.0000055 with correlation value 0.7488739, responsibility to organization equal to 0.0000087 with correlation value 0.5756746, and motivation in learning equal to 0.0002579 with correlation value 0.7569879.
