Abstract

The problems of research include: (1) how is the concept of history dimension and mythological meaning of Pertapaan Pringgadani tourist object?; (2) to what extent has the society developed the history dimension and mythological meaning of tourist object?; (3) what are the obstacles in developing the history dimension and mythological meaning of tourist object?; and (4) what measures do the government do in the society based tourism education development in Blumbang Tawangmangu? This study was conducted in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar regency. This study belonged to a descriptive qualitative research using a single embedded case study. The data sources employed were: informant, place and event, as well as written source. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis method. The result of research showed: (1) according the surrounding people, Pertapaan Pringgodani in Kaling Empire time was a place where a hermit defeated Prabu Boko; (2) in addition to physical development, the surrounding people always hold mondosio ritual up to now, as the expression of their gratitude; (3) the development of Pertapaan Pringgodani area has not been optimal. It is due to many obstacles such as heavy area, lack of supporting fund, and society’s low awareness; (4) in order to improve the societys awareness, the government conducts society empowerment and improvement of supporting infrastructures.

Abstract

The research aims at describing the realization of recreative poetry teaching in SMK Negeri 1 Surakarta. The focus of the research is about the things related to the expressive and recreative poetry teaching which include the planning, the implementing, the barriers, and  the efforts done by the teacher in handling recreative poetry teaching. The research is a case study research (qualitative research). The result of this research concludes that it is necessary to gain the perception of Indonesian Language teacher about the curriculum, the competence in recreative poetry teaching, and the theory and appreciation of poetry. With the increase of those things, it is hoped that the teacher can guide students to have a high ability about recreative poetry appreciation.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to reveal: (1) increasing maximum oxygen consumption through interval and continues step-up training; (2) step up training type that is better to increase maximum oxygen consumption. The research was conducted at Surakarta, using experiment method, with Prepost Test Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 60 students taken randomly. The sample was divided into two groups. One group was trained with interval step-up, another group with continues step-up. The training was conducted in six weeks and there were three meetings a week. Maximum oxygen consumption data were collected by Multistage Fitness Test. The data were analyzed by T Test. The results of the data analysis concluded that: (1) the mean of increasing maximum oxygen consumption on interval stepup group was 6.7133 mi/kg body weight, and continues step-up group was 4.0567 mi/kg body weight; (2) interval step-up was better to increase maximum oxygen consumption.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal (1) the effectiveness of Project Based Learning viewed from students autonomy in designing project, (2) the effectiveness of Project Based Learning viewed from students collaborative efforts in finishing project, and 3) Project Based Learning application based on the mastery of students psychomotor aspect in Chemistry Education Workshop subject of study program of Chemistry Education of Department of Chemistry Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, Yogyakarta State University. Subject of this research included students taking education workshop subject in semester 2 of academic year 2006/2007. There were 53 students divided into 7 groups. The research was designed as Classroom Action Research (CAR) with research steps referring to Kemmis and Mc Taggart model and conducted for 2 cycles. Data were collected by preliminary test for students preliminary capability, sheet of assessment for chemistry learning media design, sheet of observation for cooperation in making media, sheet of assessment for psychomotor and sheet of assessment for media. The result of the research showed that there was an increasing number of groups which have good level in cycle 2 compared to cycle 1 in term of capability of media design, collaboration, assessment for psychomotor and media.

Abstract

This research aims at improving the quality of poetry writing learning process by synectics approach. It is a Classroom Action Research. The subject is the students of X8 grade SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga which consists of 25 students. The teacher played a role as learning facilitator and the researcher as passive participant. Techniques of collecting data were done through observation, test, interview, and document analysis. This Classroom Action Research consists of three cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 steps i.e. plan, action, observation and interpretation, and analysis and reflection. The result of the research showed that learning through synectics approach could improve the poetry writing learning process. This improvement was reflected on: (1) the improvement of students activity during apperception process, cycle I 40%, cycle II     68 %, and cycle III 72%; (2) the improvement of students activity during teaching learning process, cycle I 66%, cycle II 76%, cycle III 88%; the improvement of students activity in answering the questions in spoken or written, cycle I 53%, cycle II 72%, and cycle III 88%.

Abstract

This research aims to develop computer software used to evaluate some test items such as calculation and determination for validity, reliability, difference power, and difficulty indexes. This software is developed using C++ programming language. This computer software is called “evaluasi”. An algorithm is designed before making a thinking runs easily at the program making. This software consists of two menus that can be chosen for the kind of test items. Two menus are for data entry for students test scores, and four menus are for evaluating the kind of test items. The kinds of items consist of a multiple choice test and an essay test. There are two ways for inputting data, from the keyboard or from the data which were saved in file. This system prepares four types of evaluation that can be selected by user. They are validity, reliability, difference power, and difficulty indexes; each type of them is for multiple choice item and essay item.

Abstract

This research aims to look at the impact of organization practice and commitment of organization leader toward work satisfaction and its influence to the performance of Muhammadiyah University lecturers in East Java who have worked for above 3 years. The population was 1.181 people. Random sampling was applied to get 200 samples. Technique of collecting data used questionnaire, documentation, and interview. Technique of analyzing data used structural equation modeling (SEM) with Analysis at Moment Structure (AMOS) 4,01. The result of the research showed that (1) in variable of organization practice, manifestation of risk taking did not fulfill requirement as a measure;(2) all manifestations in organizational commitment variable were identified; (3) manifestation of achievement was not identified as a measure of work satisfaction variable; (4) all manifestations in lecturers performance were identified; (5) organization practice and commitment of organizational leader had impact directly on lecturers performance;(6) organizational practice and commitment of organizational leader had impact directly on work satisfaction; (7) organization practice influenced directly to lecturers performance through work satisfaction whereas commitment of organizational leader had an impact directly on lecturer performance through work satisfaction.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of training in scientific process skills for elementary schoolteachers based on the learning organization in improving their professionalism. The scientific training based on learning organization was developed using systematic approach. This approach was in line with the school as an organization that should produce learners. A learning organization is an organization whose members are sensitive to problems, to overcome problems together and continuously, and to reach target that have been specified. The research method in this study was a modification of the Borg & Gall (1979) Research & Development (R&D) method. This research was done in Wonogiri regency and 34 teachers were involved. Principally, this research used a design one group pretest posttest to determine the effectiveness of the research subject treatment. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the training model based on the learning organization can significantly improve the mastery of the concept, the skill processes and the ability of science learning. This training is supported by supervisor and headmasters, so it can be followed up by the teacher activities team (KKG) in the classroom. Finally, it can be recommended that: (1) the training system based on the learning organization can be used to enhance school independence in improving the teachers professionalism; (2) sources of learning available in school require to motivate teacher in training activity; (3) training of science teaching is better done step by step in order to run well; (4) headmaster and supervisor involved in socialization should support the training activity totally.
