Elit Lokal Palembang dan Polemik Kebangkitan Kesultanan Palembang: Menggali Sumber Sejarah melalui Manuskrip

Abstract

The State of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin IIs descendant (zuriat) after the Sultanate of Palembang was controlled by Dutch Colonials in the XVIII AD century, Palembang Sultanate was the center of Islamic studies in Indonesian Archipelago and was the continuity of the development of Islam in Aceh which declined in the XVII AD. In  XVIII AD ulema and intellectuals received great encouragement and attention from the Sultanate which causes the emergence of ulema writers whose works still can be read and taught in the society til now. The development of Islamic intellectuals at that time is inseparable from the role of the rulers (sultan) who ruled. The Sultan highly encouraged the ulema and intellectuals in conducting Islamic studies, especially during the reign of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II both nationally and internationally. --- Keadaan zuriat (keturunan) Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II setelah Kesultanan Palembang dikuasai Kolonial Belanda pada Pada abad XVIII M, Kesultanan Palembang  merupakan pusat kajian Islam di Nusantara dan merupakan kontinuitas dari perkembangan Islam di Aceh yang megalami kemunduran pada abad XVII M. Pada abad XVIII M tersebut para ulama dan cendekiawan mendapat dorongan serta perhatian yang besar  dari  pihak Kesultanan, sehingga muncul ulama-ulama penulis yang karya-karyanya masih tetap dapat dibaca dan diajarkan di masyarakat hingga sekarang. Berkembangnya bidang intelektual Islam pada masa itu tak lepas dari peran para penguasa (sultan) yang meme-rintah. Para Sultan sangat mendorong para ulama dan cendekiawan dalam melakukan kajian keislaman, terutama pada masa Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II baik nasional maupun internasional.
