Abstract

Abstract: Dental caries is one of and mouth disease that mosly common in the community. According to the research of Department of Health, Indonesia, stated that the prevalence of caries in children is still quite high, at 85%. The objective is to analyze the difference of effectiveness between lecture method with ilustrated stories and lecture method with stair snake game in elementary school students for improving knowledge, attitude and practice towards dental and oral health. This experiment research with simple random sampling methode using Wilcoxon signed rank test and Kruskall Wallis test. This result showed that snake and ladder game method is more effective than the illustrated stories metho. it was seen from the value of knowledge (p = 0.0001), attitude (p = 0.0001) and practice (p = 0.0001). This research suggested for government agencies to take advantage of an innovative media for providing health education and good learning.Keywords: dental and oral health, effectiveness, illustrated stories, snake and ladders games
