Abstract

Until these days, for most people art is something that is abstract, hard to understand, and beyond their capability to understand. Every people asked about art will have their own opinion or definition about art, and these definitions are various to each other. For the student who is in the middle of class or course especialy the one that is related to art, the unpleasent impact of not knowing what is the meaning of art will be experienced in every class, especially in the History of Western Art, History of Indonesian Art or History of Graphic Design. Students who don’t understand the meaning of art will have difficult time to absorb what exactly the purpose of art is, why human made art, which item is art and which item is not art. This writing tries to explain the definition of art from several diffrent angles of view. The goal of the writing is to make the students who are in the middle of learning anything relating to art, first have an understanding about what art is. For the lecturer, this writing will give them something to make their work easy on lecturing about anything relating to art because the student has already understood about what art is.

Abstract

Photography now is a science that attract many people from those who learn it jus for hobby or those who wish to enter the industry. Since human found a way to record colors in photographic meaning, photographers face a new challenge on how to compose colors and what is the effect of using the chosen color. This article explain how to apply colors not just as a way to make a photograph looks as what human sees but also as a visual element to give an emphasis to the main subject and still looks comfortable to the eye of the viewer.

Abstract

Photography now is a science that attracts many people from those who learn it jus for hobby or those who wish to enter the industry. Since human found a way to record light and colors in photographic meaning, the challenge to produce photographic work is increase. Besides composing the light, photographers have to face a challenge on how to compose visual elements and what is the effect of using the chosen elements. This article explain how to apply one of visual elements, the line, in photographic work, as a visual element that is not only capable of giving emphasis to the main subject,but also as a visual element that can make a photograph looks comfortable to the eye of the viewer.

Abstract

The Jaran Kepang Temanggung is a part of cultural products and was developed on the island of Java. The researcher seeks to raise the traditional art of Jaran Kepang Temanggung as research material presenting the topic of the problems related to the visual preservation of the Jaran Kepang Temanggung. It is an effort to preserve Jaran Kepang Temanggung's traditional arts through visual media, especially photography. The researcher will document the art through photographic means. The purpose of this study is how to make a photographic work as an effort to preserve Jaran Kepang's cultural art with journalistic documentation in the form of photographic essays. The research model used in this study is to use visual methodology, since the elements used in this study are visual photography. And it will be analyzed with the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes, where the power of photography is the power of the visual language that will speak. The results of this study are that photography is able to be a good means of documentation by presenting meaningful images. Keywords: Preservation, jaran kepang, essay photography

Abstract

This research focuses on the cover of Elle Indonesia fashion magazine. Characteristics of ElleIndonesia magazine appear on the front cover with a photo model of a woman, her face isamong the brands of Elle Indonesia. Research on the cover model in this magazine aims tounderstand the meaning contained in it through observing aspects of photographic technicalboth lighting and styling (pose) model.The research method used is qualitative research withvisual methodology model.The analysis using semiotics analysis Roland Barthes, to know thecharacteristics of images and findings on the level of visual effects so as to see the relationbetween the meaning with things hidden in the picture as the vizualisation of connotationaspects.Keywords: Photography, lighting, pose, model, Semiotics, and magazine

Abstract

The facilities and services provided by photographic technology have made it easier for people to photograph. So photography is no longer a strange thing in the society. Photography has been able to replace manual illustrations, with its many advantages, such as the similarities and details of the objects it records. Photography is also necessary as a means of communication and photographic messages can also be a means of expression. When photography enters the arts, photography can provide dimensions that touch technical aesthetic aspects, as well as conceptual and thematic discourses. Exploration Situ Cangkuang will be the choice of visual objects Researchers in the creation of artistic photography. This is a form of aesthetic expression of researchers to make a real contribution to the awakening of art treasures that touch the aspect of tourism. The research method used is the qualitative descriptive method.
