Abstract

Degraded coastal environmental quality due to mangrove forest conversion is strongly suspected as a cause of the decline of shrimp pond productivity in lndonesia.

Abstract

Starch gel electrophoresis was used to assess the level and distribution ofgenetic variation in humpback grouper, Cromileptes altiuelis sampled from 4 different areas of coral reefs in Raas and Kangean located in Madura as well as Sangeang and Bungin located in Sumbawa regions, between December 1997 and March 1998.

As part of a search for biochemical genetic markers for tiger shrimp, Penuuemorndon, wild shrimp were collected from the coastal waters of Aceh, Bali and Sumbawa, (Nusa Tenggara Barat).
