Abstract

Due to the economic importance of C. striata in Lubuk Lampam floodplains (Indonesia), this study is aimed to estimate the biological and population parameters required for proposing a future plan to sustain and manage this valuable fish resource. The growth, mortality and explotation ratio of Channa striata estimated by employing FiSATProgramme are reported. The parameters of Von Bertalanffy growth model of 1,529 sample fishes were estimated as K= 0.36/ year, L” = 72.98 cm and to = -0.52 year. The coefficients of total mortality (Z), natural mortality (M) and fishing mortality (F) were 1.72, 0.73 and 0.99 year-1 respectively. Relative yield per recruit analysis shows that the presentexploitation rate (E) was 0.58. Yield per recruit can be maximized at the exploitation ratio of 0.5 and Lc/Linf values of 0.3. The Yield per recruit and biomass per recruit models indicated that, the fisheries status of C. striata in Lubuk Lampam floodplains exceed the limit reference point (Fmax), thus stock of this species in Lubuk Lampam floodplains is indicated being driving down.Reduction in fishing effort and increase number of selective fishing gears are suggested to sustain the fishery of Channa striata in Lubuk Lampam floodplains.

Abstract

Identification and classification of benthic habitats in Lake of Laut Tawar, Aceh by using hydro acoustic method can provide data and information on types of substrate and aquatic vegetation in a short time and wide spatial coverage, as done in the present work. Data acoustic collection was performed in 2013 using quantitative echosounder with split beam frequency of 120 kHz, and through a visual observation. The later is destined to look at the bottom types and macrophytes that lie on the line transect of acoustic survey. Analysis of data is to extract the value of bottom volume backscattering for each transect of 0.5-1 km. Classification of the bottom type was done based on the value of Sv using geospatial models. Results show the interval value of Sv for soft bottom ranged between -24.00 dB and -32.00 dB, the type of hard bottom (e.g. rocks, rocky sand substrate) ranged between -14.00 dB and -22.00 dB, whereas the Sv value of macrophyte ranged between- 45.00 dB and -54.00 dB. The percent covers were about 42.90%, 44.71% and 12.93% for hard bottom type, soft bottom and macrophytes, respectively. The types of aquatic vegetation commonly found in the lake were two genera belonging Hydrocharitaceaea and Gramineae. The current work is still lack of information on the classification of organisms into genera scales. Therefore, more signal verification and algorithms verification would be needed in order to estimate macrophytes biomass by comparing with other visual observation.

Abstract

Hydroacoustic techniques are a valuable tool for the stock assessments of many fish species. Nonetheless, such techniques are limited by problems of species identification. Several methods and techniques have been used in addressing the problem of acoustic identification species and one of them is Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). In this paper, Back propagation (BP) and Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) of the Artificial Neural Network were used to classify carp (Cyprinus carpio), tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), and catfish (Pangasius hypothalmus). Classification was done using a set of descriptors extracted from the acoustic data records, i.e. Volume Back scattering (Sv), Target Strength (TS), Area Back scattering Strength, Skewness, Kurtosis, Depth, Height and Relative altitude. The results showed that the Multi Layer Perceptron approach performed better than the Back propagation. The classification rates was 85.7% with the multi layer perceptron (MLP) compared to 84.8% with back propagation (BP) ANN.

Abstract

Sebagai bagian dari pendugaan stok ikan, metode akustik telah diterapkan untuk menduga kelimpahan dan sebaran ikan demersal di perairan Belitung. Pengamatan dilakukan pada bulan Julidan September 2006 dengan alat penerima gema ikan EY 60, 120 kHz bim terbagi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada bulan Juli di perairan Barat Belitung, memberikan dugaan rata-rata sebaran kepadatan ikan kurang lebih 1.600 ind. per ha. Demikian pula, pada periode bulan September dengan dugaan rata-rata kepadatan kurang lebih 2.000 ind. per ha.

Abstract

Ikan pari air tawar (Himantura oxyrhyncha) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis penting. Salah satu jenis ikan pari air tawar yang sampai saat ini masih dieksploitasi adalah Himantura oxyrhyncha. Jenis ikan pari ini habitatnya di sekitar muara sungai yang berhubungan dengan Sungai Kapuas pada kedalaman 1-3 m. Himantura oxyrhyncha merupakan spesies sasaran tangkapan dari alat tangkap jaring pukat mini yang beroperasi di sekitar SungaiKapuas, Kalimantan Barat. Spesies ini dimanfaatkan sebagai ikan hias dan dapat diekspor ke mancanegara. Status konservasi dalam daftar merah yang dikeluarkan IUCN termasuk dalam kategori spesies yang rawan mengalami kepunahan. Sedangkan di Indonesia meskipun belum menjadi catatan sebagai spesies yang rawan tetapi harus menjadi perhatian serius, mengingat populasinya diduga sudah menurun.

Abstract

Penelitian  pendugaan  distribusi spasial panjang  ukuran ikan  dengan menggunakan  metode akustik dilakukan  pada bulan  Nopember 2005 di Waduk Riam Kanan, Kalimantan Selatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai target strength ikan -41 sampai -38 dB mendominansi dan tersebar merata di seluruh bagian waduk dengan rata-rata nilai target strength seeara keseluruhan -39,28 dB. Hasil konversi nilai target strength menjadi ukuran panjang total (total length) ikan diperoleh hasil rata-rata panjang ikan 22 em dengan ukuran panjang ikan kisaran 18-23 em merupakan ukuran yang banyak ditemukan di waduk. Rata-rata kepadatan daerah dan kepadatan volume ikan di Waduk Riam Kanan masing-masing 1.120 ind./ha dan 10 ind./1.000m3. The research was conducted in November 2005 in Riam Kanan Dam, South Kalimantan Province to estimate spatial distribution of fisl1 length, conversion from target strength value and fish density using acoustic method. The result shows that target strength of freshwater fish ranging from -41 to -38 dB was dominated and spread afl over part of dam and mean target strength detected equal to -39.28 dB. Convertion target strength value to fish length (total length) obtains an average of total length of fish equal to 22 em and fish length value ranging from 18-23 em was found dominantly in the dam. Mean of area density and volume density in Riam Kanan Dam were equal to 1,120 fish/ha and 10 fish/ 1,000m3.

Abstract

Investigatiorr of stock and distribution of fishery resources was done in Toba Lake in October 2005, at the time when the wet season prevailed, using acoustic method. Split-beam echosounder SIMRAD Ey-60 operated at frequency ol iZO KHz and 0.512 ms pulse duration was used.

Abstract

Anabas testudineus Bloch, 1792 is economically important fish species found in Lubuk Lampam floodplains of Musi River. Fishing activities that take place throughout the year can affect reproduction patterns and recruitment (new additions) of fish. This study aims to evaluate several parameters of betok fish populations that can be used as input for fish resource management policies in floodplains of Musi river. A total of 3271 samples of betok fish caught by fishermen from March to November 2011 were collected to obtain data on fish length and weight. Growth parameters (L∞, K, Z dan M) were calculated using FiSAT II based on the length frequency distribution of fish. The values of L∞ and K were obtained at 204.75 mm and 0.24 / year respectively while the maximum age of fish was estimated to be 4.36 years. The total mortality (Z) and natural mortality (M) of betok fish is 0.99 / year and 0.42 / year, Fishing mortality (0.56/year). The exploitation rate (0.57) was slightly lower than the predicted value (Emax= 0.69) indicating that Anabas  testudineus was near fully exploited in the Lubuk Lampam floodplain ecosystem.

Abstract

Albakora (Thunnus alalunga) merupakan salah satu hasil tangkapan ikan ekonomis penting bagi nelayan rawai tuna di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama waktu tebar pancing dan perendaman rawai tuna terhadap hasil tangkapan albakora. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini dilakukan oleh observer pada armada rawai tuna yang berfungsi di Samudra Hindia, dilakukan dari bulan Agustus 2005 hingga Agustus 2016. Lama waktu tebar pancing rawai tuna berkisar antara 2-9 jam dengan lama waktu perendaman 1-14 jam atau rata-rata 5 jam. Analisis sidik ragam satu arah menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang nyata pada lama waktu tebar pancing dan perendaman terhadap hasil tangkapan albakora (F9,1020=5,72; p<0,05). Uji Tukey menunjukkan bahwa lama waktu tebar pancing dan perendaman terbaik untuk menangkap albakora adalah masing-masing selama 4 & 5 jam dengan rata-rata laju tangkap sebesar 0,37/100 mata pancing. Nelayan armada rawai tuna disarankan untuk mengurangi lama waktu tebar pancing menjadi 4 jam dan tetap mempertahankan lama waktu perendaman 5 jam untuk memperoleh hasil tangkapan albokora secara maksimal.Albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga) is one of the important economic catches for tuna longline fishermen in Indonesia. The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of length of set and soak time of tuna longline vessels to the catch of albacore tuna. The research data was collected by scientific observer on the Indonesian tuna longline vessels and conducted from August 2005 to August 2016. In general, the length of set time on tuna longline vessels ranges from 2-9 hours with the length of soak time from 1-14 hours with average of 5 hours. One way Anova analysis showed that there was a significant difference on the length of set and soak time to the catch of albacore tuna (F9,1020=5,72; p<0,05). Tukey test showed that the best length of set and soak time to catch albacore tuna was 4 & 5 hours, respectively, with hook rates of 0.37/100 hooks. Fishermen of longline tuna vessels are suggested to reduce the length of set time into 4 hours and to maintain 5 hours of soak time to obtain maximum catch of albacore tuna.
