Abstract

Islamic Boarding school is an islamic education institution which has an identical tradition in indonesian muslim societuy. This institution has emerged long before the colonialism era in Indonesia. In its long history since years to pursue the concept of modernism, islamic boarding school, sometimes ,has also been perceived negatively because of transnasionalism ideology which is adopted in recent years. In that case, this paper aimed to describe the existence of islamic boarding school in indonesian social life. By argumenting and comparing some previous studies in this case to gain an accurate result. Moreover, this paper is intended to answer some western perception about islamic boarding school in Indonesia, and finally emphasize the role of islamic boarding school as a government partner and its function in creating democracy.  Keyword: Islamic Boarding School, Tradition, Modernization.

Abstract

Arabic script is a system of written language used to symbolize the sounds of Arabic. It constitutes the category of written system of ortography and it is made based on the pronounciation of a sound independently or separated from the context of a word. As a result, there are latters arranged alphabetically, well-known as al-huruf al-hijaiyyah. All this time, Arabic script is acknowledged as a consistent language of the sound sign. It is understood considering that every Arabic letter has special character and it is completed by spelling rules. By such characters and spelling rules, every letter can write both its sound and its variances. It needs comprehensive understanding on the characters and the spelling rules of Arabic letters to write the sounds of Arabic scripts correctly. Without understanding it, the mistakes in writing a sound of Arabic scripts will appear. To avoid mistakes in writing the sounds of Arabic scripts, this article tries to explain the character of every Arabic letters as well as it spelling rules. This article also gives information about several Arabic letters that make difficulties for the users. Keywords: Arabic, Arabic script, al-huruf al-hijaiyyah

Abstract

Gender bagi santri putri Daar el-Rahmah Serang tidak hanya dipahami sebagai jenis kelamin, melainkan juga sebagai alat analisis untuk melihat ketim­pangan dan ketidakadilan relasi laki-laki dan perempuan yang mengakibatkan kekerasan baik dalam kehidupan rumah tangga ataupun masyarakat. Para santri putri sadar gender ketika bersama-sama mengaji secara kritis kitab "Uqud al-Lujjayn" karya Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani yang jika dipahami secara tekstual bias gender.Untuk melakukan sadar gender melalui kajian kritis kitab Uqud al­Lujjayn, santri putri juga harus memahami secara kontekstual makna dzikir dalam tarekat Sadziliyah. Kenapa santri putri harus dzikir? Ini keunikan dari Pesantren Putri Daar el-Rahmah yang mewajibkan santrinya berdzikir tarekat Sadziliyah dan mengintegrasikanya dengan berpikir kritis, selain itu semua santrinya berjenis kelamin perempuan yang rentan dengan tindak kekerasan. Pemahaman dzikir secara kontekstual, dalam konteks pemberdayaan santri putri menuju transformasi sosial, sebagai "entry point" (pintu masuk) sadar gender dilakukan. Dalam memahami dzikir para santri putri selalu berdzikir secara rutin setelah shalat Isya' dan sadar bahwa ''mereka tidak boleh hasud, dusta, dan takabur dalam bermasyarakat. ''Realitas sadar gender santri putri Pesantren Putri Daar el-Rahmah Serang tersebut mempakan potret santri putri sebagai santri, mahasiswa, pelajar, dan masyarakat selama enam bulan dalam proses melakukan transformasi sosial. Hal itu terjadi dilatarbelakangi oleh realitas santri putri yang tidak aktif berpartisipasi dalam aktifitas sosial keagamaan di dalam masyarakat, karena mereka berpikir bahwa kegiatan sosial keagamaan di luar rumah mempakan tugas laki-laki, sebagaimana secara implisit dikatakan Syekh Nawawi dalam kitab Uqud al-Lujjayn.Kata kunci: pesantren putri Daar el-Rahmah, sadar gender, kitab 'uqud al-lujjayn’
