Abstract

Shifting cultivation is a form of traditional farming system that became the custom, tradition and culture of the farmers in West Kalimantan. The equipment used for this activity relies on axes and machetes. The area to be slashed and burned is two hectars in average per family of land forest. The purposes in this research are to know 1) The form of social network structures in individual level of shifting cultivators in maintaining the value of the local wisdom seen form the centrality within network. 2) the forms of local wisdom of the community in shifting cultivation. The research took place in Laek Sub-Village of Bengkilu village subdistrist, Tujuh Belas of Bengkayang Regency. The data was analysis by social analysis (SNA) with communication network among farmers. The code of network in this research is namely node. The respondents is head of household. The research show the network is like a form like wheel. The higest degree of centrality (ds) is 0,31 that node of 69 from respondents. This higest degree belonged to Pemangku Adat of Laek Hamlet. In this case He has strong links in giving some imfortant information about the rituals adat, prohibition, taboo and customary low (adat low) in slash and burn activity. While the weak degree of centrality is 0,01 with the node of 123 and 159. The weak links is belonged to head of customary sociaty in doing slash and burn or shifting cultivation activity are: (1) The adat rituals in shifting cultivation (2) The adat law. This adat low is as one jars (tempayan), one kampoong chicken. The weigh of chicken with one a high kilogram and also one kilogram yellow rice (tanung perbanyu), all this adat low where paid for the spirit of padi (Nok Naya). (3) sixteen stages of activity in shifting cultivation activity in Laek.Keywords: adat, communication, local wisdom, shifting cultivation, social network.

Abstract

Local wisdom is a communitys belief born form its ancestor which has positive value that has been assured from generation to generation and has become local culture. This research aims to find out the types of the local wisdom and to view the strategic actions in keeping that local wisdoms used by customary institutions. This research was conducted toward Dayak Seberuang tribe community of Gurung Mali village, Tempunak subdistrict, Sintang regency. The method used survey with SWOT analysis. The result of this research found that the local wisdoms of Gurung Mali village, Tempunak subdistrict, Sintang regencys community are: There is a belief toward Nabau (dragon) monster, sacred lands, mystical ladder and supernatural, and The very important roles of customary institutions in preserving local wisdom to always be held by the community. There are a few actions took by customary institutions in keeping the local wisdom such as; Coordinating to the community, implementing their duties based on their functions and understanding their customs explicitly. Meanwhile, the obstacles faced by customary institutions in preserving local wisdom are; The lack of indigenous peoples knowledge towards customary sanctions. The lack of indigenous peoples understanding towards land boundaries around the village. The lack of governments attention to conduct elucidation about Tembawang efficacy. From various strategic actions and the obstacles the customary institutions faced can be seen that the difference score between strength - effect and weakness - effect is 1,156 shows that Tembawang at Gurung Mali village has strength that; the customary institutions and the community coordinate to each other in preserving the sustainability of Tembawang. The difference score between opportunity - effect and threat - effect is 0,345 shows that Tembawang is potentially to become an ecotourism forest due to its sustainability and its wisdom.Keyword: Community, Customary institutions, forest, Local wisdom and Tembawang

Abstract

Local wisdom are any form of knowledge, belief, understanding or insight and habits or ethics that guide human behavior in life in an ecological community. This research was conducted in the village of Pala Island District of Putussibau North Kapuas Hulu Regency. The study aims to find out the form of local wisdom in the way of choosing land, clearing land and controlling the fire in the activity of the shifting cultivation. Factors measured in this study were: experience, age, education and length of stay in the village of Pala Pulau District of Putussibau North Kapuas Hulu, the sample was taken by purposive sampling technique. Primary data collection through direct interviews of 87 respondents through questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Chi Square analysis. Local knowledge and local ecological communities are still practiced by the community, in shifting cultivation activities such as land selection, land clearing and fire control in the form of techniques, rituals and certain rules in practice, this lesson is passed down from generation to generation to them. Villagers of Pala Pulau are still dependent on their life by shifting cultivation for their daily needs by utilizing the fertility of the land they are working on. Abstract

Tembawang is a form of management area conducted by Dayak tribe community in West Kalimantan. By the aspect of local wisdom, tembawang is a tribute, moral ethics of ancestral values, inheritance of ownership to its descendants, and as knowledge in understanding the types of trees which is used as a reference of ownership if the original tree die, as economic aspect, tembawang is a source of community nutrition but its utilization is limited to house hold consumption and the economic value is relatively smaller. The forming of tembawang is done after farmers have shifting cultivation, where before leaving their former land they planted various kinds of timbers, fruits, sap, and spices as medicinal plants. Information on the diversity of tembawang timber stands has not been widely known yet. The research aims to obtain information about the diversity of tembawang timber standing stock and the dominant tree species in the Village of Sehe Lusur Sub District of Kuala Behe District of Landak. The research was conducted in the Village of Sehe Lusur Sub District of Kuala Behe District of Landak for ± 4 weeks, from August 2016 until done. Data collection in the field using mixed method of transect and line plots by census in three different tembawang namely Nanga Ngundul, Sungai Babi, and Nanga Ngasap. The research result shows that stands are found for all growth rates of 34 species. The most dominant number with the highest INP value of the seedling level is Kelampai (Elateriospermum tapos), the largest sapling is Durian (Durio zibethinus), stands whose in medium pole are Melaban (Vitex pinnata), and the stands classified as tree is Krikik.Keywords: Biodiversity, Desa Sehe Lusur, Forest, Stand, Tembawang.

Abstract

Mangrove forest ecosystem is capable to fulfill almost all human necessities by tangible and intangible value contribution it has. The purpose of this research is to find out the Direct Use Value (DUV) on mangrove forest in Sungai Mas, Sebangkau District, Sambas Regency which is held on ± 4 (four) weeks effectively. The method used in this census (data collecting), with the number of respondents 188 head households. Valuation of the varieties used by people in Sungai Mas use market price method for firewood, fruit and water product. The research showed total economical value of the mangrove forest on Sungai Mas valued Rp21.123.386.000.-/year contained of firewood Rp. 44.016.000.-/year, fruitsrp Rp. 4.100.000,-/year, scallop Rp. 3.610.800.000,-/year, crab Rp1.355.750.000-/year, prawn Rp. 11.655.000.000,-/year, and fish Rp. 4.453.720.000,-/year. The economical value of mangrove forest on Sungai Mas is really high. Therefore it is necessity to protect the mangrove forest such as reforestation either by government agencies or by the people awareness. So the current economical value remains exist and even gains to welfare the society. Also, the product from aquatic is also dominating.
