Abstract

This study aims to describe the attainment of mathematical problem solving ability among elementary school students in Yogyakarta Municipality and to describe errors that they make in answering the items in the test of mathematical problem solving ability. This was a qualitative and case study research. The research population comprised all elementary school students in Yogyakarta Municipality. Then, 3 elementary schools in Yogyakarta Municipality were randomly selected based on upper, middle, and lower ranks, namely SD Negeri Ungaran Yogyakarta, SD Bina Anak Sholeh Yogyakarta, and SD Negeri Karanganyar Yogyakarta. The study was carried out in Grade V in November 2015. The research instruments were a test of mathematical problem solving ability and an interview guide. Based on the data from the test of mathematical problem solving ability, interviews were conducted by involving 5 students from each elementary school. The results of the study show that the mathematical problem solving ability among elementary school students in Yogyakarta Municipality is still low, namely less than 68. Their mathematical problem solving ability at the stage of understanding a problem is 52.37%, at the stage of planning to solve a problem it is 29.091%, at the stage of solving a problem it is 23.09%, and at finding out an alternative it is 8.88%. The results indicate that many students have not attained the stage of rechecking by finding out an alternative way (solution). The errors that the students often make include inaccurate data, inaccurate procedures, unavailable conclusions, skill hierarchy problems, and indirect manipulations

Abstract

 Abstract: Mathematics learning should be more varied methods and strategies in order to optimize the potential of the student. Selection of methods, strategies, and approaches in designing the learning model in order to achieve an active and meaningful learning is a demand that must be met for teacher. Learning of mathematics which enables fun learning and is done naturally, so student can perform directly the things learned. It is appropriate with contextual teaching and learning is a concept that helps teacher relate the contents of the subject matter with the real world so that learning is more meaningful. In geometry content, teacher should be able to use contextual teaching and learning and also give an innovative questions that can improve higher order thinking skills of the students.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika yang dilaksanakan guru di kelas menjadi persoalan yang sangat menarik untuk didiskusikan. Siswa memandang matematika sebagai suatu mata pelajaran yang sangat membosankan, menyeramkan, bahkan menakutkan. Banyak siswa yang berusaha menghindari mata pelajaran tersebut. Hal ini jelas sangat berakibat buruk bagi perkembangan pendidikan matematika ke depan. Pembelajaran bermakna diharapkan dapat meningkatkan sikap positif terhadap matematika yang akhir-akhir ini sangat jarang dilakukan. Tulisan ini menguraikan tentang cara menumbuhkan sikap positif siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.Kata kunci: Sikap positif, dan pembelajaran matematika

Abstract

This study aims to improve problem-solving skills in Basic Mathematics courses through Problem Posing approach. This research is a Classroom Action Research. The subject of the research is the 2nd semester student of PGSD at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST). The research instruments are observation sheets, pretest and posttest. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistic technique by determining mean, median, mode, lowest score, highest score, and completeness of individual and classical study presented in the percentage form. The result of this research shows that Problem Posing approach can increase the problem solving ability of 2E PGSD students. This can be seen from the increase of the pre cycle stage which shows the problem solving ability of the students which is formerly in 45 % has increase in the first cycle reaching 52,72 % and the second cycle there is also a significant increase of 84 %. This increasing number indicates that the implementation of class action research is successful. According to the result of the research, the implications that can be contributed for the public benefits is this study provides an overview of the student problem solving skills improvement by the time they finish applying the problem posing approach. This learning provides students the opportunity to learn independently and improve their creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of e-learning edmodo in terms of learning outcomes of PGSD UST students, the effectiveness of group discussion learning in terms of student learning outcomes and comparing the effectiveness of e-learning edmodo and group discussion learning in terms of student learning outcomes. This type of research is a quantitative approach research that is quasi-experiment research. This research was conducted at the PGSD of UST. The subjects of this study were 2F and 2I semester students of PGSD UST. Data analysis method was carried out by one sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Data analyzed in the form of primary data, namely tests given to students. The results showed that mathematics learning using e-learning edmodo was more effective than mathematics learning using group discussion in terms of student learning outcomes. The lowest and highest learning outcomes obtained by the experimental class (e-leaning edmodo) were 36.05 and 88.15 with an average of 73.57. For the control group (group discussion) the lowest and highest learning outcomes were 38.50 and 92.40 with an average of 66.25.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa PGSD serta mendeskripsikan kelemahan mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran dengan masalah open-ended ditinjau dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa PGSD Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta. Metode pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah metode tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa PGSD tergolong pada kategori tinggi dengan perolehan rata-rata skor KPM yaitu 51,76. Persentase mahasiswa yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kategori tinggi adalah 94%, sementara 6% dari total mahasiswa berada pada kategori sedang. Tidak ada mahasiswa yang berada pada kategori rendah. persentase penguasaan mahasiswa pada tahapan memahami masalah 99,20%, merencanakan strategi 95,20%, menyelesaikan masalah 81,60%, dan memeriksa kembali yaitu 32,80%. Mahasiswa sudah mampu memahami permasalahan, merencanakan strategi, dan mengeksekusi strategi dalam menyelesaikan soal. Akan tetapi, mahasiswa belum terbiasa melakukan pemeriksaan ulang dan memberikan alternatif solusi terhadap hasil pekerjaannya.

Abstract

This study aims at studying the national examination conducted by “Phytagoras” Mathematics Course. This research is a descriptive study conducted to test the national examination of elementary school, specifically in its mathematics subject. The data used in this research is the results of Indonesian national exam simulation test conducted by “Phytagoras” mathematics course in 2017. The data of this study are obtained from 919 sixth-grade students who had accomplished mathematical tutoring in “Phytagoras” mathematics course. The results of the data analysis showed that there are 5 out of 40 mathematical test items that need to be evaluated due to its level of difficulty. Those five items are suggested to be reformatted and revised for the improvements of the next national exam simulation test.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of how the learning using origamasains can emerge fondness to mathematics and science subjects from the early age. The result of the study was expected to become the input for the upcoming learning and the reference for developing the learning at the basic level especially for the mathematics and science subjects. In order to get the accurate research result, the qualitative research method was employed. The data were analyzed using the data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data validity check procedures. The research was conducted in May - September 2018 at Jageran Yogyakarta early childhood school. The primary data being analyzed were the impression of the students to the given learning and the results of the interviews to the students. The finding showed that the students could learn better using the origamasains learning. In this first activity,80% of the students showed fondness to the given learning activity, while 20% of the students expressed normal impressions and 0% of the students showed dislike. In this second activity 100% of the students showed fondness to the given learning activity. Meanwhile in the third activity, 75% of the students showed fondness to the given learning activity, 20% of the students expressed normal impressions and 0% of the students showed dislike. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the creativity of problem solving through the method of team product on the 2nd grade students Prodi S1 PGSD University Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa (UST). Classroom action research is conducted in two cycles, and each cycle has two meetings with planning, action, observation and reflection. Data collection using test and nontest techniques. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that compared with pretest result before using team product method and after use of team product method, there is an increase of learning result from pretest to posttest of cycle I as much as 4% then increase 4% again in cycle II. Overall for the average pretest is 70.5 then the posttest average value after the action done on the first cycle that is equal to 75.1 and continues to increase to 78.8 in cycle II.

Abstract

Di dunia yang terus berubah, mereka yang memahami dan dapat mengerjakan matematika akan memiliki kesempatan dan pilihan yang banyak dalam menentukan masa depannya. Oleh karena itu, untuk menguasai dan menciptakan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi informasi serta mampu bertahan hidup pada keadaan yang selalu berubah dan kompetitif di masa depan diperlukan penguasaan matematika yang kuat sejak dini. Melihat begitu pentingnya matematika, maka pembelajaran matematika diberikan di semua jenjang pendidikan di Indonesia mulai dari sekolah dasar. Pembelajaran matematika hendaknya berpusat pada siswa dengan menggunakan berbagai macam pendekatan dan metode. Siswa dituntut mampu menemukan konsep dalam pembelajaran matematika. Siswa dituntut untuk dapat menemukan konsep sendiri melalui pembelajaran yang bermakna salah satunya pembelajaran dengan pendekatan discovery. Pendekatan discovery merupakan suatu pendekatan belajar dimana siswa dituntut mampu menemukan suatu konsep dalam belajar. Selain itu pembelajaran yang mengaitkan antara materi yang diajarkan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dimana siswa mengamati, menggolongkan, membuat dugaan, menjelaskan, menganalisis, memverifikasi, membuat kesimpulan suatu konsep dalam belajar termasuk pada bangun ruang sisi datar di sekolah dasar.
