Abstract

An increasing population in recent decades has led to the need for increasing the availability of food, so it is necessary to increase the production of paddy as quickly as possible. The aim of this research was to know the supply response of paddy in East Java to various price factors and non-price factors. In this research, the supply response was estimated by the paddy harvest areas in East Java using Cobb-Douglas model and Nerlove partial adjustment, and econometric analysis including stationarity test, cointegration test, and Error Correction Model (ECM). The data used in this research consisted of paddy harvest areas, grain price, corn price, irrigated land area and rainfall amount from 1991 to 2015. The speed of short-term adjustment to the long-term supply of rice was 2.79% and was corrected in the next period. In the short run, all variables did not have a high responsiveness to paddy supply, but in the long run, the irrigation area was very responsive to paddy supply in East Java with a value of elasticity of 1.79. Supply of paddy can be increased by increasing the real price of unhulled rice, the irrigated land, and harvested area of the previous period.

The administration form consists of on farming activities, save and loan of paddy grain, rental of farm equipment, and rental of partyequipment. The training activity to give a performance description of the group empowerment. The results of the analysis of soybean farming provide R/C value of 2.81 which means that the farming were profitable. Farming analysis also shows that the increasing of soybean production can be solved by enlarge the planted area and the use of urea fertilizer. In addition, given advice to review the increase in revenues, government should giving high soybean prices shifting as well as providing assistance for the production facilities to reduce the productioncost.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to analyze the performance of export-import, competitiveness and the factors affecting export-import of Vietnam rice. Type of data used is secondary data of 1980-2009. To determine the fluctuation of export-import trade were applied trend and trade specialization ratio. To find out the analysis of competitiveness were run revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and acceleration ratio (AR). To investigate the factors affecting the export and import used error correction model (ECM). Vietnam export trend showed an increase and imports trend showed a decline and in the maturity stage. Vietnam has high competitiveness but the exports acceleration is low. Vietnam’s export affected by per capita rice availability and the exchange rate while imports of Vietnam affected by the production, world rice prices and real national income.

The results of this activity are providing knowledge for farmers about Salibu and organic rice cultivation, balanced fertilizer, planting according to the planting calendar and providing farmer group’s data that will obtain farmer card; providing information to the Department of Agriculture and Food Crop Wonosobo Regency about the agricultural machinery equipment assistance is still not maximized but the activities of providing subsidized seed, balanced fertilizer and rehabilitation tertiary irrigation have been running well. Some problems in the implementation of UPSUS are the time is too short, agricultural machinery equipment aid is not appropriate, the quality of seed aid is not good, the target program of Luas Tambah Tanam is too high and many PPL and farmers do not understand about Salibu. To improve of UPSUS, the government should prioritize the bottom up principle for all kinds of aids or programs; and socialize the new technology system to PPL and farmers.

Abstract

Rural Agribusiness Enterpreneurship Empowerment (RAEE) not only has a beneficial impact for the farmers, but also has many problems. This research was intended 1) to know the performance of RAEE; 2) to know the effectiveness of RAEE on community income and its determining factors; 3) to know the performance and efficiency of Agribusiness Micro Financing Institute (AMFI) and its determining factors. The study was carried out from March until April 2013 in Bantul, Gunungkidul, Kulon Progo, and Sleman Regencies. The respondents were 60 AMFIs and 120 member farmers. RAEE can increase farmer’s income; reduce the number of poor people; increase the number of members, savings, and assets of the combined farmer groups; increase employment, and encourage farmers not to lend to other institutions. But, RAEE also has problems, including deviation of the distribution of RAEE funds, inappropriate use of RAEE funds regard to the planning, problems of bad loans, unofficial legality of most of the AMFIs, and the low capacity of human resources manager. The determinant factors of the RAEE effectiveness are the length of the loan and the type of business. Most of the AMFI in DIY performs poorly. The determinant factors of the AMFI efficiency are the amount of independent capital and the presence of mentoring. The steps to improve RAEE include coaching and supervision of AMFI, control of bad loans, selecting the business types of AMFI, and encouraging AMFI to become an official legal entity.
