Radya Pustaka Museum Complex Realignment using Contextual Architecture approach in Surakarta caused by the rapid urban development results in the decrease of  the heritage buildings image, especially in Surakarta. Radya Pustaka Museum realignment is an attempt to preserve Radya Pustaka Museum’s existence as one of the oldest museums in Indonesia which preserves Javanese cultural existence proofs in the past. The realignment of the museum complex is conducted by maintaining the shape of Radya Pustaka Museum original building as a conservation effort in which the new object design functions as a new cultural appreciation place done by restoring and developing the function of previous existing activities which were able to accommodate all the museum’s activities and needs. The method used is architecture designing plan method approached by Contextual Architecture. Contextual Architecture is applied as an execution design method with the purpose of creating contextual environment visual harmony between the new building and it previous environment. By using this approach, the form, mass order, and façade elements in the new building are designed by not only aesthetic and contrast appearance, but also contextual to the old one. The realignment is designed in line with Surakarta City Government Planning related to tourism, education, and culture development which are expected to make Radya Pustaka Museum as one of the main representation of the historical aspect of the city and to enact the tourism in the city of Surakarta, as the City of Culture. Abstract

One of the cities in Indonesia that has problems with school dropout children due to economic problems is Surakarta City. By 2015, 1.54% of workers in this city are teenagers and as many as 6.08% of the population are unemployed (Ermawati, 2015). In fact, the world has become more open and the competition both in the field of economy and employment becomes increasingly tight. One solution to solve the problem is with non formal education. Non-formal education serves as a substitute or additional education that can increase both academic and life skills. Another problem that arises is how to improve motivation and stimuli in processing learning for those who drop out of school. This can be achieved by applying the concept of environmental psychology to the design of educational facilities. By using the concept of environmental psychology, the learning activities can run effectively and learners become more creative and innovative. Non formal education system provided at this education center are life skills training, pursuing equalization packages and tutoring. Each of these activities has its own support rooms such as theory classrooms, practice spaces, library, studio and auditorium which each room apply the concept of environmental psychology in its design.

Abstract

Park is a tourism place that shows the beauty of nature, including flower. Based on LIPI’s data Indonesia has 6.000 kind of flowers. This is correlate with the availability of The Green Open Space at Surakarta (9,7% from 20%). Flower park needs to be made that can increase the amount ofThe Green Open Space in Surakarta. It  will be place for recreation, conservation, ecology, education and economy. The method used is descriptive qualitative with case study through stages of expressionist architecture literature, data observation, precedent study, physical condition of site and government regulation. The conclusion of this analysis is obtained the suitable application with expressionist architecture value in the design, that is application in space (compound building according to function), site (access, climate, view and orientation, noise and pollution, zoning), shape and mass (combination and curve aplication), Appearance (uniformal-abstract phylosophy, material exposure, imaginative-illusive, emotional psychological) and building structure (constructive material).

For designing a building that maximizes space program and environmental atmosphere available with the type of needs and program activities that take place, the healing environment is chosen as a design solution at the planned school. Healing environment is related to the creation of an environment that affects health by influencing action and interaction by applying the sensory, natural, and psychological aspects. Aspects of the healing environment will be applied to the spatial, site, form and mass arrangement, and landscape.

Abstract

Bus terminal in its role to help facilitating transportation activities especially in the distribution process of passengers in a city currently is not functioning optimally, as happened in Terminal Seruni Cilegon, Banten. Terminal which has supported regional scale transportation services (categorized as B type) with additional operating for AKAP, it’s still categorized as C-type terminal with an area of + 2 hectares, so that, both of main and supporting facilities have not been able to accommodate the functions of the current terminal activities. The function of this terminal which is still lacking, stimulate a behavior of public transportation, buses and passengers were reluctant to enter the terminal, instead they are moving to an area outside the Terminal, especially at area of Cilegon highway, which cause traffic jams in the area. The design issue is how to make a redesign concept of Terminal Seruni in Cilegon, Banten with the emphasis of wayfinding systems in facilitating user’s mobility to provide efficient orientation. The objective is to improve the quality of the buildings and restore the function and activity of area of East Cilegon highway into the area of Terminal Seruni. The method used is a method of designing architecture with the emphasis of wayfinding system. The results obtained are re-design with the emphasis of wayfinding system in Terminal Seruni which is applied in the space program based on zoning and spatial layout to determine the user's movement; lane separation for pedestrians and vehicles which can be supported with tools to help the orientation; circulation that provides comfort and ease of movement for the user, both circulation of vehicles and humans so that it will increase the efficiency of circulation in Terminal Seruni; as well as the design of the building that representative through the presence of a landmark combined with a sign or other additional sensors to strengthen the identity of Terminal Seruni. Keywords: Re-design, Bus Terminal, Wayfinding Systems, Efficiency Of Circulation

Abstract

This journal was done in the interest of architectural studies. The goal of the research was to build a Japanese Community Center in Solo. The study began from a certain phenomenon. Ever since the signing of Peace Treaty between Indonesia and Japan, both country had immersed themselves in various cultural exchanges. This leads to the increase of Japanese culture lovers in Indonesia almost every year. To anticipate and control this phenomenon, a place that can hold and regulate the speed and effects of it is needed. The Japan Community Centre will be a place for Japanese Communities’s activities, a medium for learning Japanese culture, and the new spot of historical vacation for Solo City. Metaphorical Architecture was chosen as the design approach with consideration that through Metaphorical Architecture, the character and purpose of the building can be better presented for the public. The Metaphorical Architecture used was the mix of Abstract Metaphor (intangible) and Concrete Metaphor (tangible). The main problem of this designing process is what will be metaphored through this Japan Community Centre. The exploration starts from chosing the name for the building, which is Mugen Jou (Infinity Castle). The metaphorical charcteristics that will be used, based on the name chosen, are Grand, Firm, Massive, The feel of Japanese Castle, Uncountable visualization, and Stacked ala Lego. Keywords: Metaphorical, Grand, Firm, Massive, Castle, Uncountable
