Abstract

The Carangoidae, popularly known as trevally is a commercially fishes and one of marine resources abundance in water of Indonesia. A study has been carried out to describethe carangoid fishes of the family Carangidae from the Spermonde Archipelago, South Sulawesi and the result will be used as basis for further study especially on bio-diversity monitoring for the area.  This study was conducted from August 2006to November 2015.  Thirty carangoid fishes belonging 13 genera were examined and identified: Alepes, Alectis, Atule, Decapterus, Caranx, Carangoides, Elagatis, Gnathanodon, Megalaspis, Pseudocaranx, Scomberoides, Selar, and Selaroides. The Common name available of each species was given.

Abstract

Produk bioetanol dengan bahan dasar biomassa lignoselulosa perlahan banyak dikembangkan sebagai sumber energi alternatif. Tantangan utama dalam produksi lignoselulosa etanol berada pada tahap pretreatment. Pretreatment merupakan tahap yang memegang peranan penting dalam mendegradasi lignoselulosa menjadi selulosa. Pada penelitian ini digunakan Lemna minor yang merupakan gulma perairan dengan kombinasi dua tahap pretreatmen untuk melihat efektivitas degradasi lignoselulosa dalam sampel. Tahap pertama dengan metode hydrothermal pressure pada suhu pemanasan uap 121 °C dan tekanan 15-20 psi dengan variasi waktu proses selama 5, 15, 30, 45, dan 60 menit. Tahap kedua pretreatment dengan metode kimiawi menggunakan NaOH dengan variasi konsentrasi 0,5; 1; 1,5; 2; dan 2,5 M. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 60 menit merupakan waktu optimum dari metode hydrothermal pressure pada sampel L. minor dengan kadar lignin 11,32%, kadar selulosa 17,39%, kadar hemiselulosa 16,73% dan kadar gula total 0,82%. Untuk tahapan pretreatment dengan pelarut alkali (NaOH) kandungan kadar lignin L. minor setelah pretreatment dengan NaOH 2,0 M sebesar 5,36%, kadar.  Kandungan kadar selulosa, hemiselulosa dan gula total optimum diperoleh pada konsentrasi 2,5 M dengan nilai kadar 31,03%; 5,57% dan 1,74%. Efektivitas penurunan kadar lignin pada pretreatment hydrothermal pressure sebesar 37,04% sedangkan pretreatment dengan NaOH sebesar 70,18%. Kombinasi proses pretreatment memberikan hasil yang cukup baik terhadap proses degradasi lignin yang terkandung dalam sampel Lemna minor sehingga sangat efektif digunakan dalam proses pembuatan bioetanol dengan bahan dasar biomassa.  Optimization Pretreatment through Hidrothermal Preassure and Alkaline Solvent Methods in Bioethanol Production from Lemna minor. Bioethanol products with lignocellulosic biomass feedstock have been developed as an alternative energy source. The main challenge in the production of lignocellulosic ethanol is on the pretreatment stage. Pretreatment is a stage that plays an important role in degrading lignocellulose into cellulose. In this study, we used a Lemna minor which is a water weed with a combination of two stages of pretreatmentt to see the effectiveness of lignocellulosic degradation in the sample. The first stage is hydrothermal pressure method of steam heating temperature 121 °C and pressure 15-20 psi with variation of processing time for 5, 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The second stage of pretreatment with chemical methods using NaOH with a concentration variation of 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2 and 2.5 M. The results showed that 60 minutes was the optimum time of the hydrothermal pressure method in the L. minor sample with the lignin content of 11.32%, the cellulose 17.39%, the hemicellulose 16.73% and the total sugar 0.82%. For the pretreatment stage with alkaline solvent (NaOH) the content of L. minor lignin after pretreatment with 2.0 M NaOH was 5.36%. The content of cellulose, hemicellulose and total sugars was obtained at a concentration of 2.5 M with a grade value of 31.03%, 5.57%, and 1.74%. The effectiveness of lignin decrease in pretreatment hydrothermal pressure was 37.04% while pretreatmentt with NaOH was 70.18%. The combination of pretreatment process gives a good result to the lignin degradation process contained in the L. minor sample in order that it is very effective in the process of making bioethanol with biomass feedstock.

Abstract

Sea worms have enormous potential to be used as alternative food ingredients because they have a fairly high protein content. The Research of the analysis yield and phytomomic compounds of Eunice Siciliensis marine worms has never been done. An effort to develop Eunice siciliensis sea worm-based alternative food ingredients is important to do phytochemical screening. This study aims to identify phytochemical compounds found in Eunice siciliensis marine worms and find out their benefits for health. This study was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that extract yield was 17.97% and Eunice siciliensis sea worm extract contained alkalaoid, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids / steroids, and tannins.

Abstract

Penyakit akibat infeksi mikroba semakin sering terjadi. Penelitian tentang potensi ekstrak cacing laut Perinereis aibuhitensis sebagai antimikroba terhadap bakteri  Staphylococcus aureus dan jamur Malassezia furfur telah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui konsentrasi ekstrak cacing laut Perinereis aibuhitensis yang efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan pertumbuhan jamur Malassezia furfur. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak cacing laut yang menggunakan pelarut etanol 96 % dan diperlakukan pada kultur bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan konsentrasi ekstrak cacing laut 7.5%, 15%, 30% dan 60% memperlihatkan terbentuknya zona hambat pada media dengan lama inkubasi 1x24 jam dan 2x24 jam, dan memperlihatkan zona hambat terbesar pada konsentrasi ekstrak 60%. Demikian pula pada Jamur Malassezia furfur, terbentuk zona hambat pada konsentrasi ekstrak 7,5%;15%;30% dan 60%. Zona hambat terbesar terlihat pada konsentrasi ekstrak 60%. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak cacing laut Perinereis aibuhitensis berpotensi sebagai antimikroba terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan jamur Malassezia furfur  .Key Words: Perinereis aibuhitensis, antimikroba, Staphylococcus aureus, Malassezia furfur

Abstract

Kolagen adalah protein serat yang memberikan kekuatan dan kelenturan pada jaringan tulang dan memainkan peran penting dalam jaringan lain, termasuk kulit dan tendon. Protein kolagen dapat ditemukan di bagian tubuh ikan yang tidak digunakan seperti sisik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kandungan kolagen dalam sisik ikan bandeng Chanos-chanos dan sisik ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus. Penelitian dilakukan dalam empat tahap, yaitu deproteinisasi, hidrolisis, ekstraksi dan freeze drier dengan analisis proksimat. Hasil rendemen kolagen sisik ikan bandeng hampir sama dengan rendemen kolagen sisik ikan nila. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil kolagen sisik bandeng adalah 0,3% sedangkan kolagen sisik ikan nila adalah 0,29%. Dari hasil analisis proksimat diperoleh kadar kolagen yang cukup baik pada kolagen sisik ikan nila dengan kadar abu 20,15% SNI ≤ 1%, kadar air SNI 19,05 ≤ 12%, kadar protein SNI 53,01 ≤ 75%, kadar lemak 0,48% dan kadar karbohidrat dari 7,3%. Kata kunci: Kolagen, sisik ikan, nila, bandeng.

Abstract

The research about the potential of sea worm Perinereis aibuhitensis extract as anti-microbe toward bacteria Salmonella typhi and fungus Candida albicans had been conducted. The aim this research is to know the extract?s concentration of sea worm Perinereis aibuhitensis which is effective to obstruct the growth of bacteria Salmonella typhi and fungus Candida albicans. The result of research that was obtained shows that sea worm?s extract which used ethanol solution 96% and was needed in the culture of bacteria Salmonella typhi with the concentration of sea worm?s extract 7.5%, 15%, 30%, and 60% involved the form of obstruction zone at the medium with duration incubation 1x24 hours and 2x24 hours. Based on the research which was conducted, it can be concluded that the sea worm Perinereis aibuhitensis extract had the potential as anti-microbe toward bacteria Salmonella typhi  because can obstruct the growth of that bacteria, but it had no effect as anti-microbe toward fungus Candida albicans.

Abstract

Diabetes is a disease associated with other diseases such as heart attacks and hypertension. Research has been conducted on "Test the Potential of Eunice Siciliensis Sea Worm Extract on Rattus Novergicus Rat Blood Sugar Levels". This study aims to determine the potential of Eunice Siciliensis Sea Worm Extract on the Blood Sugar Level of Rattus norvegicus Mice. In this study, dried sea worm extract was macerated, the maceration results will be evaporated after drying it. The test animal was induced with alloxan to increase blood sugar levels. Furthermore, treated with sea worm extract with doses of 45 6 gr/ kgdw, 90 6 gr/ kgdw and 180 6 gr/ kgdw, respectively. Positive control using acarbose, and negative control Na-cmc 1%. The results showed that administration of sea worm extract would reduce blood sugar levels in rats at a dose of 180 6 gr/ kgdw.
