Abstract

The objective of this study is to characterize benthic substrate of Bonetambung reef area using worldview 2 highresolution satellite imagery. About 14.273 depth spot were deploy to build bathimetric model of the study area. The correlation of pixel radiance value from satellite imagery and depth value from field measurement werebecame the basis to classify geomorphologic zone of shallow water area up to 7 meter depth. Between threeinterpolator tested, the natural neighbor interpolator has produced the best bathymetric model with root meansquare error 0.3 meter and benthic substrate coverage model with thematic accuracy 62%. These approach beable to recognize four substrate type in general, such as sand, seagrass, rubble and coral. Geomorphicsegmentation based on bathymetric profile and radiance value of worldview 2 imagery may also maps the reefflat, reef slope and lagoon area hence may support the benthic substrate modeling. This study showed us apotential technic to develop a modelling for juvenile fish transport at Bonetambung coral waters.Key words: benthic substrate bathymetry, worldview imagery, thematic accuracy

Abstract

Ecotourism is a nature-based tourism activity that includes aspects of education and interpretation of the natural environment and community culture with ecological sustainability management. This study aims to determine the bioecological aspects of mangrove ecosystem as an object of ecotourism and to know the geophysical aspects of Gonda Beach as a supporter of mangrove ecotourism suitability on Gonda Beach. This research was conducted in November 2016 in Laliko Village, Campalagian Sub-district, Polewali Mandar Regency, including mangrove bioecological data collection including thickness, density, species and biota associated with mangrove and coastal geophysical data collection covering wide coastal measurement, coastal slope, depth, tidal, current, wave and substrate of waters. Result of research show potential of mangrove ecosystem to become ecotourism area with good condition of mangrove vegetation. The mangrove species in the ecosystem of the gonda mangroves are Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizophora stylosa, Rhizophora apiculata, Ceriops tagal, Sonneratia alba, Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Xylocarpus granatum and Xylocarpus moluccensis, and diverse biota such as fish, reptiles, birds and crabs as a tourist attraction . Gonda mangrove ecosystem area is a very suitable area to become a mangrove ecotourism area.Keywords: ecotourism, mangrove, conformity analysis, tourism object

Abstract

In 2011, the government of West Sulawesi has planned on sea conservation area covering the islands in Mandar Bay of PolewaliMandar Regency. One of the islands that has been declared as sea conservation area is the Pasir Putih Island. In order todevelop maritime echotourism in the Pasir Putih Island than a research has been carry out starting in July to December 2015.The purposes of this research are: (1) to evaluate the suitability of coral and the species association for diving activity, (2) toevaluate suitability of the area for snorkeling, (3) to estimate the carrying capacity of the area for echotourism activity. Theresult of this research indicates that the coral area for the diving activity in Pasir Putih Island is categorized as on conditionalof appropriate. The carrying capacity of the area was estimated to 45 person per day for diving activity, while for snorkelingtour the area is quite appropriate for 90 person per day. To support marine ecotourism development, the following strategies areneeded: (1). Establishing cooperation with local government in maintaining the local wisdom. (2) Estabilishing core zone asRegional Marine Conservation Area (KKLD), (3). Abstract

Sandeq is a kind of marine transportation , since long has been operated by Mandar seaman and fishers alongthe coastal water area, as well as for fishing in Sulawesi Barat . This research was carried out to study thefeasibility of utilizing the Sandeq boat in marine ecotourism in Pasir Putih Island of the Polewali MandarRegency. SWOT Analisys has been applied to reveal the level of support of stakeholders regarding this idea, andthe strategies to be carried out in developing this specific ecotourism. The analysis shows that the internal andexternal factors are strongly support the program with a strong and aggressive manner and having a positifopportunity. A scenario on commercially operated ecotourism was designed and financially analyzed for 5 yearsperiod of operation: (1) Net present value of Rp 705.121.922,-, (2) Internal rate of returnof 100,99 %, and B/Cratio range from 1.7 at 3nd year to 3.7 at the 5th year. Those values showed that the project is financiallyfeasible. Three alternatives routes of marine ecotourism werw iidentified: (1) Ballanipa Village to KaramasangIsland, (2)From Balanipa Village to Battoa Island, (3) From Tonyaman Village to Karamasang Island and PasirPutih.Key words : Sandeq boat, ecotourism, Pasir Putih Island, Polewali mandar Regency, Swot Analysis, Financialanalysis.

Abstract

The research takes 6 stations based on point of compass in the water of Karampuang Island – West Sulawesi Province. The goal of this research is to know feasibility area sight from oceanography physics and chemics for marine culture of seaweed with rope in upper water, floating nets of kerapu fish, sea cucumber and abalone marine culture. Analysis method of feasibility area with the quality for a piece of biophysics parameter is measured not only for supporting factor but also breaking factor for marine culture. The research of feasibility by calculating the total score from all parameters measured in situ with feasibility criteria that the feasibility area is very, enough, and not properly. The seaweed marine culure with with rope in upper water is very proper to develop into the six stations of research, kerapu fish at the station 1,2,3,5 and 6. Sea cucumber at the station 1,2,3, and 4. Pearl Oyster is very proper at the station 1 and 2 and others shows that they are only proper enough with marine culture because of the marine limited factor is bigger than supporting factors

Abstract

This research aim to know level of rehabilitation success mangrove vegetation based on condition of bioecology especially level of mangrove growth and ecology index makrozoobenthos. Result of research indicates that thickness of vegetation of mangrove formed after rehabilitation still be thin with the range of average of between 14-54 m. Rhizophora mucronata is mangrove type giving the biggest influence in structure vegetation of mangrove Tokke-Tokke. composition of type makrozoobenthos found at vegetation of mangrove Tokke-Tokke enough heights (consisted of out of 45 types coming from 5 clast and 25 set of relativeses and predominated by Class Gastropoda), with highest abundance 77,33 ind/m2 and average of 52,13 ind/m2. Ecology index every station with different stand age is relative equal to diversity index (H) pertained medium (2.17-2.65). Uniformity index (E) and domination (D) each in categorizing stable (0.61-0.88) and low (0.10-0.22), except station I (age 10 years) with uniformity index in categorizing unstable ( 0,68). Spreading pattern of type makrozoobenthos found able to be categorized distribution of random, uniform and generally group indicating that condition of area formed at vegetation of mangrove Tokke-Tokke enough varies for every type makrozoobenthos.

Abstract

Determination of category abrasion or sedimentation to applies formulation of empiric developed by Sunamura and Horikawa, with height and wavelength, median measure item sediment and coastal gradient as determinant. Current data and tidal applied as the determinant supporter. Waving maximum found at area Bisokeng part of south with height 0,52 metre and long 25,82 metre. Low is found in area Kahukahu with height 0,17 metre and long 8,71 metre. Coastal gradient alongside location of research is met [by] two categories namely flat at area Takkalalla and Muara Sungai Bua, and sloping category at other area. Median measure item the biggest sediment is found in area Bisokeng part of South and smallest at area Marana. Based on the determinant is obtained [by] information that six locations in research area experiences coast abrasion (north Baringeng, south Baringeng, Marana, south Jahung-jahung, north Bisokeng and north stone Ujung). The eight locations is permanent in stable condition (neutral). Result of prediction of coastal stability applies prediction waving it is known that from 61.11% case of wave is enabling the happening of 54,4% coast to experience abrasion, 6,6% remain to be stable and 39% experiences sedimentation.

Abstract

To support the efforts of the Indonesian government in managing marine debris that has a broad potential negative impact in various aspects, beach debris monitoring activities are urgently required in various locations. This research was carried out from June to August 2018 in the west coast region, on Labuange beach, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, which was exposed by the Indonesian Through-Flow. The study aimed to determine the amount, weight and composition of marine debris on Labuange beach. Marine debris was sampled from a permanent line transect with an area of 150 m2 (three replications). Samples were then cleaned, sorted, counted, and weighed. The average amount of marine debris was 5.98 + 2.13 items/m2 per month, with a total weight was 138.69 ± 91.32 g/m2 per month. Plastic and rubber category dominated every sampling period in the location. The abundance of marine debris, both regarding quantity and weight, fluctuated in high amount during the sampling period, which indicated the magnitude of the role of oceanographic factors, including the direction of waves, and lack of community awareness on marine debris impacts and management. The great amount and weight of marine debris and the type of waste, which was dominated by plastic and rubber is a potential threat to humans, marine biota, and the local or global environment.
