Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning models on learning achievement viewed from the logical mathematical intelligence of the students. The learning models compared were the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type modified with Quantum Learning and scientific approach, Think Pair Share (TPS) type with Quantum Learning and scientific approach, and classical model with scientific approach. The type of this study was a quasi-experimental research with a 3×3 factorial design. The population was all of students on grade VIII of Junior High Schools in Magelang Regency in academic year 2014/2015. The data was analyzed by using two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. Based on the hypothesis, the results of the study could be summarized as follows. (1) NHT-Quantum Learning gave better achievement than TPS-Quantum Learning and classical model, TPS-Quantum Learning had same achievement as classical model. (2) Students with high logical mathematical intelligence gave better achievement than middle and low logical mathematical intelligence, students who had middle logical mathematical intelligence gave better achievement than those who had low logical mathematical intelligence. (3) In each category of the logical mathematical intelligence, NHT-Quantum Learning gave better achievement than TPS-Quantum Learning and classical model, TPS-Quantum Learning had same achievement as classical model. (4) In each of the learning models, the students who had high logical mathematical intelligence got better achievement than middle and low logical mathematical intelligence, the students who had middle logical mathematical intelligence got better achievement than those who had low logical mathematical intelligence.Keywords: Numbered Heads Together, Think Pair Share, Classical, Quantum Learning, Logical Mathematical Intelligence.

Abstract

The problem faced by the students in grade IX-B SMP XYZ in Sentani, Papua is the low achievement of cognitive learning, especially in math. Factors affecting low cognitive achievement are internal and external. Seeing the problem at hand, the researcher tried to solve it by using student worksheets as a medium to improve cognitive learning outcomes. The purpose of the research is to determine whether there is an increase in cognitive achievements of students using student worksheets and to know how to use the student worksheet to help the students achieve the cognitive learning outcomes.  The research methodology used was Class Action Research (CAR) that lasted for two cycles. The research was carried out in grade IX-B at XYZ Junior High School in Sentani, Papua from August 26, 2015 until November 13, 2015. The research instruments used were student assesment worksheets, written test sheets, observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and interview sheets. Based on the results of the research, using student worksheets has not improved the cognitive learning outcomes of the students between cycle 1 and cycle 2. There was a decline in the percentage of cognitive learning outcomes of students in the second dimension of the cognitive process (understanding). However, the results suggest that the overall use of student worksheets can improve the cognitive learning process of students.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK:  Permasalahan yang ada pada peserta didik kelas IX-B SMP XYZ Sentani, Papua adalah rendahnya pencapaian hasil belajar kognitif khususnya pelajaran matematika. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi rendahnya hasil belajar kognitif berasal dari dalam dan luar diri peserta didik. Dari permasalahan yang ada, maka diberikan solusi dengan menerapkan penggunaan lembar kerja siswa (LKS) sebagai media pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik melalui penggunaan media lembar kerja siswa (LKS) dan untuk mengetahui cara penggunaan media lembar kerja siswa (LKS) dalam membantu peserta didik mencapai hasil belajar kognitif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang berlangsung selama dua siklus. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP XYZ Sentani, Papua kelas IX-B tanggal 26 Agustus 2015 hingga 13 November 2015. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar penilaian LKS, lembar tes tertulis, lembar observasi, lembar angket, dan lembar wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penggunaan media lembar kerja siswa belum dapat meningkatkan pencapaian hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2. Terjadi penurunan presentase pencapaian hasil belajar peserta didik pada dimensi proses kognitif kedua (memahami). Akan tetapi secara keseluruhan penggunaan LKS dapat meningkatkan proses belajar kognitif peserta didik.

Hubungan Motivasi Belajar dan Disiplin Belajar Siswa Kelas IX Pada Pembelajaran Matematika di Suatu Sekolah Kristen [The Relationship between Learning Motivation and Learning Discipline of Grade 9 Mathematics Students at a Christian School]

Abstract

Based on observation at XYZ Christian School in Tangerang, there are some students in grade 9 who showed less disciplined behavior in school, especially during math classes. Less disciplined students exhibit less motivated attitudes during classroom learning. This study aims to determine whether learning motivation correlates to learning discipline. This type of research is correlational research with a quantitative approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The population in this research is all grade 9 students at XYZ Christian School. Data were analyzed through using Pearson Product Moment Correlation to obtain a correlation coefficient between learning motivation and learning discipline. The analysis obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.731 that shows there is a strong positive relationship between learning motivation and learning discipline. The research concluded that the higher the learning motivation, the higher the learning discipline.ABSTRAK BAHASA INDONESIA: Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan di Sekolah Kristen XYZ di Tangerang, ada beberapa siswa kelas IX yang kurang disiplin dalam perilaku di sekolah, terkhusus saat pembelajaran matematika. Siswa yang kurang disiplin menunjukkan sikap kurang termotivasi selama pembelajaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan yang signifikan dan bagaimana hubungan antara motivasi belajar dengan disiplin belajar siswa kelas IX. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX di Sekolah Kristen XYZ. Data dianalisis menggunakan Pearson Product Moment Correlation untuk mendapatkan koefisien korelasi antara motivasi belajar dengan disiplin belajar. Hasil analisis memperoleh koefisien korelasi 0.731 yang menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan positif yang kuat antara motivasi belajar dan disiplin belajar. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi motivasi belajar semakin tinggi pula disiplin dalam belajar.

Abstract

Based on observations of grade 8B students in a Christian junior high school in Kupang, it was found that students were not able to demonstrate the ability to cooperate in mathematics lessons. To overcome this, the researcher implemented a Team Quiz to assist students in developing their cooperative skills. This research used Kemmis & McTaggart’s model for Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was done in two cycles. The instruments used were mentor’s and peer’s observations, student’s questionnaires, and tests. The findings showed that Team Quiz could help grade 8B students to improve their cooperation skills in mathematics subjects.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Berdasarkan hasil observasi pada siswa kelas VIII-B di salah satu SMP Kristen Kupang, ditemukan bahwa siswa belum mampu menunjukkan kemampuan kerja sama dalam pelajaran Matematika. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, peneliti menerapkan Team Quiz untuk membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan kerja sama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. PTK ini berlangsung dalam dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi check-list mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar observasi rating scale mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar angket siswa, dan lembar wawancara mentor. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Team Quiz dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kerja sama antar siswa kelas VIII-B pada mata pelajaran Matematika. 

Pengembangan Modul Pembelajaran Pengolah Lembar Kerja Excel Berbasis Multimedia [Developing an Excel Spreadsheet Multimedia Learning Module]

Abstract

Competence in the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a part that is needed to be mastered by prospective student-teachers. Students are expected to use ICT appropriately in education. The problem that often happens is that many students have difficulty working on tasks outside the classroom, especially when Microsoft Excel. Many students appear to understand and look like they are able follow guided practice in class, but outside of class they are confused and often forget the instructions given by lecturers. One solution for dealing with these problems is to provide learners with a multimedia module for learning how to create and use spreadsheets. It is hoped that this module will help students to solve their learning difficulties in ICT courses including those with different learning styles. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the usefulness of this multimedia module. The development of this module was done by using the ASSURE model which consists of six stages: (1) analyze the learners; (2) state objectives; (3) select appropriate methods, media, and materials; (4) utilize materials; (5) require learners’ participation; and (6) evaluate and revise. The results of the questionnaire indicate that candidate teachers tend to be stronger in learning through Visual-Auditory ways. In addition, student mastery of the Excel Sheet processing program has the lowest value of Word and PowerPoint programs. The design of this learning module will be made by taking into account the Visual-Auditory aspects of the Microsoft Excel topic. This learning module will be developed with an interactive design using the PowerPoint 2016 program. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Kompetensi penggunaan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) menjadi bagian yang perlu dikuasai oleh mahasiswa calon guru. Mahasiswa diharapkan dapat menggunakan TIK secara tepat dalam dunia pendidikan. Permasalahan yang sering terjadi adalah banyak mahasiswa yang mengalami kesulitan saat pengerjaan tugas di luar kelas, khususnya penggunaan Microsoft Excel. Banyak mahasiswa yang mampu dan paham mengerjakan praktik terbimbing di kelas, namun ketika di luar kelas mereka mengalami kebingungan dan lupa akan instruksi yang diberikan oleh dosen. Untuk menjawab permasalahan  tersebut maka diberikan solusi yaitu pemberian modul pembelajaran pengolah lembar kerja excel berbasis multimedia. Pengembangan modul pembelajaran pengolah lembar kerja excel berbasis multimedia diharapkan dapat memecahkan masalah kesulitan belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah TIK. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran pengolah lembar kerja excel berbasis multimedia. Dengan diberikan modul pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat mengakomodasi kebutuhan mahasiswa yang memiliki gaya belajar berbeda-beda. Pengembangan modul ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan model ASSURE yang terdiri dari enam tahap, yaitu: analyze learners; states objectives; select methods, media, and materials; utilize materials; require learners participation; dan evaluate and revise.  Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa gaya belajar mahasiswa guru lebih kuat kepada Visual-Auditori. Selain itu, penguasaan mahasiswa terhadap program pengolah Lembar Kerja Excel memiliki nilai yang paling rendah daripada program Word dan PowerPoint. Abstract

 AGAPE tutoring program was conducted by lecture of mathematics education department because it sees the children’s need for additional learning after school either academically or mentally. This tutoring program helps students in doing homework from the subjects provided in the school and helps them with lessons that they have not yet understood. In addition to helping the tutee in cognitive understanding activities, the tutors also instill good moral values to the tutee such as how to speak, act towards older people and others. It also prepares tutors with the necessary skills that they will need in the future. It was held at 7.00-9.00 pm. In Bonang every Monday to Wednesday with SPV Mrs. Sianturi, and in GMI every Monday with SPV Mrs. Aling. Students were grouped according to their needs, and each tutor was responsible for each group. It was found that students who joined this tutoring program have a high interest. Evaluation of the guidance program to be revealed is about the readiness and response of student tutors, SPV place of learning, and tutee.Keywords: Tutoring program. Tutor

LEARNING TRAJECTORY OF QUADRATIC INEQUALITY

Abstract

A learning trajectory offers a description of key aspects in planning mathematics learning. It also helps teachers follow and interpret students’ mathematical thinking, so that learning can be developed in accordance with the characteristics of students, and even become a tool for teachers to develop curriculum. There are three main components of learning trajectory: learning goals, learning activities, and hypothetical learning processes. In this article, we constructed a learning trajectory of the quadratic inequality. This qualitative study used didactical design research with 105 grade 10 students as the participants. In the prospective analysis step, didactic design, learning obstacle, and quadratic inequality system were analyzed. Based on the results of this analysis, we constructed hypothetical learning trajectories in the form of didactical design. Then, hyphothetical learning trajectories were implemented in the learning process. Student’s responses were analyzed qualitatively. Results of this analysis were used to revise the learning trajectory in order to obtain alternative trajectory learning outcomes of theoretical and empirical analysis. Finally, this article offers an alternative learning trajectory of quadratic inequalities that are different from the existing learning trajectories presented in the current textbook. The learning trajectory that is offered is the learning quadratic inequality which starts from the function approach. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Learning trajectory (LT) menawarkan sebuah deskripsi akan aspek kunci dalam perencanaan pembelajaran matematika. LT juga membantu guru belajar dalam mengikuti dan menginterpretasi cara berpikir matematisnya siswa, sehingga pembelajaran dapat dikembangkan sesuai dengan karateristik siswa, bahkan menjadi alat bagi guru untuk mengembangkan kurikulum.  Ada tiga komponen utama dari learning trajectory, yaitu: tujuan pembelajaran (learning goals), kegiatan pembelajaran (learning activities) dan hipotesis proses belajar siswa (hypothetical learning process). Dalam artikel ini akan dikonstruksi sebuah LT pertidaksamaan kuadrat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan didactical design research. Adapun partisipan sebanyak 105 siswa kelas X. Pada awal penelitian ini, dilakukan analisis propektif yaitu analisis atas materi pertidaksamaan kuadrat, hambatan belajar dan tingkat berpikir siswa. Kemudian dari hasil analisis ini disusunlah Hipotetical Learning Trajectories yang berupa desain didaktis. Desain didaktis berdasarkan Hypotetical Learning Trajectories ini diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran. Respon siswa dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis ini digunakan untuk merevisi Learning Trajectory, sehingga diperoleh Learning Trajectory alternatif hasil analisis teoritik dan empirik. Akhirnya, artikel ini menawarkan sebuah alternatif learning trajectory pertidaksamaan kuadrat yang berbeda dengan learning trajectories yang ada pada buku pelajaran sekarang. Learning trajectory yang ditawarkan adalah pembelajaran pertidaksamaan yang dimulai dengan pendekatan fungsi.
