Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui motilitas Ascaridia galli dewasa dalam ekstrak etanol biji Veitchia merrillii. Ekstrak etanol V. merrillii dianalisis fitokimia. Sebanyak 16 ekor cacing A. galli dewasa dibagi kedalam empat kelompok. Cacing pada kelompok pertama adalah kelompok tanpa perlakuan. Cacing pada kelompok kedua diberi 0,6 mg/ml levamisole. Cacing pada masing-masing kelompok ketiga dan keempat diberi 50 dan 100 mg/ml crude ekstrak biji V. merrillii. Motilitas A. galli ditentukan dalam skor persentase setelah 12, 24, 36 jam dengan menggunakan kriteria: 3 (badan bergerak), 2 (hanya sebagian badan bergerak), 1 (tidak bergerak tetapi masih hidup), 0 (mati). Hasil fitokimia V. merrillii mengandung alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids. Ekstrak biji V. merrillii dosis 100 mg/ml secara in vitro dapat mempersingkat selama 12 jam waktu motilitas cacing A. galli dewasa. Penelitian ini mengindikasikan potensi anthelmintik berbasis herbal untuk pengendalian A. galli.  (Motility of Ascaridia galli adult worms in vitro in ethanolic extracts of Nuts Veitchia merrillii) ABSTRACT. The purpose of this research was to know the motility of Ascaridia galli adult worms in aqueous ethanolic extracts of nuts Veitchia merrillii. The ethanolic extract of the V. merrillii was analyzed. Amount of sixteen head A. galli adult worms were divided into four groups. The first group, worms were left as un-treated normal controls. The second group, worms were treated with concentrations of 0,6 mg/ml levamisole. The third and fourth group, worms were treated with crude aqueous ethanolic extract of 50 and 100 mg/ml concentrations nuts of the V. merrillii, respectively. Motility of A. galli were determined after 12, 24, 36 hour by mean of persentage scored using the following criteria: 3 (moving whole body), 2 (moving only parts of the body), 1 (immobile but alive), and 0 (died). The result of phytochemical V. merrillii contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and terpenoids. V. merrillii nuts extract concentrations of 100 mg/ml in vitro can shorten the time motility A. galli adult worms for 12 hours. The study indicated the potential for developing herbal-based anthelmintics to control A. galli.

Abstract

           The purpose of this research was to identified the compounds in ethanol extract of soursop flower and determined the antibacterial activity of the soursop flower extract on Salmonella enteritidis. The phytochemistry screening was done to identify the secondary metabolite compounds of this extract. The concentrations used of ethanol extract of soursop flower were 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, with ampicillin 10 μg/disc as the positive control and 10% Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) as the negative control. The antibacterial activity test of soursop flower ethanol extract against Salmonella enteritidis was held in vitro using the paper disc diffusion method by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone. The phytochemistry screening showed that the ethanol extract of soursop flower had secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenolic, and flavonoid. The result of the antibacterial activity test showed that there was no inhibition zone (bright zone) at various concentrations. So, it can be concluded that soursop flower ethanol extract (Annona muricata L.) contained the secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenolic, and flavonoid, and also this extract had no antibacterial activity against Salmonella enteritidis

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi aktivitas antelmintik ekstrak etanol biji Veitchia merrillii terhadap nematoda intestinal, Ascaridia galli. Metode fitokimia dilakukan untuk menguji keberadaan jenis kimiawi di dalam ekstrak. Efek dari ekstrak tersebut ditentukan melalui in vitro berdasarkan hambatan pergerakan dan kematian cacing. Sebanyak empat ekor cacing masing diperlakukan triplikat dalam phosphate buffered saline, 25 mg/mL, dan 75 mg/mL larutan ekstrak V. merrillii, dan 15 mg/mL albendazole. Pergerakan cacing diamati pada interval 9, 18, 27, dan 36 jam. Kematian cacing ditentukan berdasarkan ada tidaknya pergerakan badan, bagian kepala, dan ekor cacing. Kami menemukan bahwa larutan ekstrak V. merrillii mengandung tanin, alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, saponin, tetapi tidak mengandung steroid. Berdasarkan percobaan in vitro, penggunaan konsentrasi 25 dan 75 mg/mL ekstrak V. merrillii menunjukkan efek antelmintik. Ekstrak V. merrillii tersebut hanya efektif pada konsentrasi 75 mg/mL. Kajian tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa antelmintik berbasis herbal untuk mengendalikan A. galli berpontesi dikembangkan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui jumlah cemaran mikrob pada telur asin mentah yang dijual di pasar Ulee Kareng. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 butir telur asin yang diperoleh dari 10 pedagang. Jumlah cemaran mikrob dilakukan dengan pour plate method (Total Plate Count) dengan pengenceran berseri 10-1–10-4untuk isi telur. Data hasil penelitian ini disajikan secara deskriptif. Jumlah cemaran mikrob terkecil terdapat pada 3 dari 20 telur asin yang dijual oleh 10 pedagang yaitu berkisar dari < 101 – 9,8×104 CFU/g dan jumlah cemaran mikrob tertinggi pada pedagang 5, 9 dan 10 yaitu 1,8×105 CFU/g,  1,1×106 CFU/g,  dan 1,2×105 CFU/g. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat 15% telur asin mentah yang isi telur tercemar mikrob melebihi batas SNI ( >1×105 CFU/g).(This study was aimed to determine the amount of microbial contamination in raw salted eggs sold at Ulee Kareng market. This study used 20 salted eggs obtained from 10 traders. The amount of microbial contamination was not by pour plate method (Total Plate Count) with 10-1-10-4 dilution for egg content. The data of this research were presented descriptively. The smallest amount of microbial contamination was found in 3 of 20 salted eggs sold by 10 traders, ranging from <101-9.8 × 104 CFU / g and the highest number of microbial contaminant in traders 5, 9 and 10, namely 1.8×105 CFU /g, 1.1×106 CFU / g, and 1.2 × 105 CFU / g. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there were 15% of raw salted eggs which contain microbial contaminated egg exceeding the SNI limit (>1×105CFU / g))

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bakteri Gram negatif pada ambing sapi aceh, dengan mengisolasi bakteri yang berasal dari 10 swab ambing sapi aceh yang tumbuh pada media NB, media Mac Conkey, SSA dan PAB. Selanjutnya dilakukan pewarnaan Gram, pengamatan morfologi koloni dan uji biokimia. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu didapatkan 3 bakteri. Bakteri A merupakan  Shigella boydii dengan ciri berbentuk batang, koloni berwarna kuning pada media SSA, tembus cahaya, mampu memecahkan asam amino triptofan, hanya mampu menurunkan pH menjadi asam, memfermentasikan manitol dan dubius pada fermentasi sukrosa. Bakteri B merupakan Enterobacter cloacae dengan ciri berbentuk batang, koloni berwarna merah muda pada media SSA, berflagel, hanya mampu meningkatkan pH menjadi basa, memfermentasikan gula (manitol, laktosa dan sukrosa). Bakteri C merupakan Enterobacter aerogenes dengan ciri berbentuk batang, koloni berwarna putih pada media PAB, berflagel, hanya mampu meningkatkan pH menjadi basa dan memfermentasikan gula (manitol dan sukrosa). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini berdasarkan Tabel Cowan and Steel’s (1993) didapatkan bakteri dengan spesies : Shigella boydii, Enterobacter cloacae dan Enterobacter aerogenes.This study aims to identify Gram negative bacteria on aceh cow udders, by isolating bacteria from 10 growing aceh cow udder swabs on Nutrient Broth media, Mac Conkey, SSA and PAB media. Then Gram staining is done, morphological observations of colonies and biochemical tests. The results were obtained 3 bacteria. Bacteria A is Shigella boydii with trunk shaped, yellow colony on SSA media, translucent, able to break tryptophan amino acids, only capable decreases pH to acid, ferments mannitol and dubius in sucrose fermentation. Bacteria B is Enterobacter cloacae with trunk shaped, colored colonies pink on SSA media, flaked, only able to increase pH to alkaline, ferment sugar (mannitol, lactose and sucrose). Bacteria C is Enterobacter aerogenes with a rod-shaped characteristic, white colony on PAB media, flaked, only able to increase pH to become alkaline and ferment sugar (mannitol and sucrose). The conclusion of this study is based on Cowan and Steel’s Table (1993) bacteria found with species: Shigella boydii, Enterobacter cloacae and Enterobacter aerogenes.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to observe the histopathological changes of the entire egg cells in the uterine of Ascaridia galli worms treated with crude ethanolic extract of Veitchia merrillii nuts. Histopathological changes of the entire egg cells were observed to describe that the activity of extract V. merrillii nuts interfered the reproduction process could decrease the quantity and quality of A. galli eggs. The experiments consisted of 16 head A. galli female adult worms divided into four groups, contained four worms of each, and maintained in 0.9% phosphate buffered saline (PBS). First group, a negative control experiment consisted of A. galli in 0.9% PBS. Second group, concentration of 15 mg/mL albendazole was used as a positive control. Third group and fourth group, in vitro exposure of the worms to the crude ethanolic extract V. merrillii nuts at a concentration of 25 mg/mL and 75 mg/mL, respectively. The histopathological changes of egg cells in the uterine region of stained worms was evaluated by light microscopic examination at 40x magnification. The results showed that shrinkage and disintegration of the entire egg cells in the breakage of uterus. The results indicate that the possible use of the plant as a potential anthelmintic against A. galli, the intestinal nematode parasite of domestic fowl.

Abstract

           The aims of this research was looked to determine the healing process of burns  Grade II B using a mixture of fresh and dried leaf kedondong with vaseline white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Animals used were 18 rats. This study was designed using three treatment groups namely (KI) vaseline, (KII) mixture of crushed leaves and fresh kedondong (KIII) mixture of crushed dried leaves kedondong and each two replications. Burns made on the backs of mice and the treatments are done twice a day for 21 days.Observation research parameter is the description of macroscopic and microscopic observed at day 7, 14, and 21 in the skin tissue with hematoxylin and eosin staining. The observation of macroscopic studies showed that the formation of a reddish color, presence of edema, and loss of the fastest consecutive scab is KI, KIII, and KII, while the formation of a scab fastest respectively KIII, KI and KII. The observation of histopathology showed on day 7, KI, KII and KIII found inflammatory cell infiltration, hemorrhage and edema with the spread of many.on the 14th day of KI and KII infiltration of inflammatory cells and their udema much, whereas KIII inflammatory cell infiltration decreased, and hyperemia increase, on the 21st day KI, KII and KII inflammatory cell infiltration, hyperemia and hemorrhage spread with a little, but KI and KII oedemanya still being spread. Based on the results of this study concluded that KIII accelerate the healing process of burns on rats

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dasar pertimbangan keyakinan konsumen terhadap kehalalan dan thayyiban, serta menganalisis hubungan antara status sosial ekonomi dengan alasan konsumen ketika memutuskan untuk membeli daging ayam di beberapa pasar dalam Kabupaten Gayo Lues. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Pasar Baru, Pasar Durin, dan Pasar Centong. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan survei lapangan melalui wawancara responden menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur. Responden dipilih secara acak yaitu konsumen yang membeli daging ayam di tiga pasar tersebut. Kriteria responden adalah konsumen yang beragama Islam, berusia ≥ 20 tahun dan membeli daging ayam di lokasi penelitian. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Dalam penelitian telah diwawancarai sejumlah 117 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar konsumen (> 88%) menyatakan bahwa daging ayam yang dijual diyakini memenuhi standar kehalalan. Mayoritas konsumen menyebutkan bahwa keyakinan mereka atas dasar mengenal penyembelih dan beragama Islam (57,26%). Sebagian besar konsumen (> 80%) menyatakan keyakinan terhadap status thayyiban (aman, sehat dan utuh) dari daging ayam yang dijual di ketiga pasar tersebut. Bedasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa status kehalalan dan thayyiban dari daging ayam sangat penting bagi konsumen di Gayo Lues. Namun demikian keyakinan mereka lebih bersifat mengenal penyembelih atau penjual.Kata Kunci: Kehalalan, Thayyiban, Daging Ayam

Abstract

This study was aimed to obtain information on pet owners understanding toward animal health control, including zoonotic diseases, and animal welfare in the City of Banda Aceh. The survey was conducted by interview pet owners that visited 1 Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University and 2 veterinarian clinics in the City of Banda Aceh. A number of 51 pet owners were included as respondent in this study. The interview was conducted using a structure questionnaire, which contained of 72 questions, both open and close questions. The pet owners were interviewed for the knowledge, attitude, and practice on animal health control. Data obtained in this study were analysed descriptively using chi-square test. The results showed that most of the owners interviewed in three animal clinics in the City of Banda Aceh were keeping cats as their pet animals (98.04%), and a few proportion of them were the owner of dogs. At proportion of 60.78% of the pet owners were women, and men only 39.22%. Statistical analysis showed that there were significant association between knowledge, attitude, and practice on animal health control of the owners those visited the three clinics in the City of Banda Aceh. Based on the results of this study it is concluded that the pet owners those visited animal clinics in Banda Aceh has a good knowledge, attitude, and practice on animal health control.
