Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L) leaf extract on total blood cholesterol level of broiler. This study used 15 broiler aged of 25 days. This study was an experimental study using completely randomized design (CRD) unidirectional pattern with 3 treatment groups and 5replications each. Group 0 (P0) was not given bandotan leaf extract, group 1 (P1) was given 3 ml bandotan leaf extract, and group 2 (P 2) was given 5 ml bandotan leaf extract. The administration of Bandotan leaf extract was carried out once a day for 5 consecutive days. On day 6 after treatment, the blood was collected then examined for total blood cholesterol level by precipitation method. Data was analyzed using analysis of variance. The result showed that the average of total cholesterol level on group P0, P1, and P2 was 134.20+10.50, 125.15+8.20, and 113.34+7.50 mg/dl, respectively. In conclusion, bandotan leaf extract decrease blood cholesterol levels of broiler.Key words: broiler, bandotan leaf extract, total cholesterol level

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of celery leaf infusa on decreasing  level of blood glucose in rat (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty five rats were divided into 5 groups namely first treatment group (P1) as negative control. Second treatment group (P2) as positive control, rats were induced with alloxan. Third treatment group (P3) rats were induced with alloxan and given 5% celery leaf infusa. Fourth treatment group (P4) rats were induced with alloxan and given 10% celery leaf infusa. Fifth treatment group (P5) rats were induced alloxan and given 15% celery leaf infusa for 14 days. The level of blood glucose of the rat was determined before treatment, after given aloksan and after given celery leaf infusa. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Varians (ANOVA). Results showed that administration of celery leaf infusa  for 14 days, show significant effect to decreasing level of glucose in rat (P<0.01). It can be concluded that the administration of celery leaf infusa  concentrated 5%, 10% and 15% for 14 days show significant effect to decreased level of glucose in rats.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the red watermelon extract can affect the number of leukocytes in mice exposed to cigarette smoke. This study was designed with a completely randomized design using a unidirectional pattern 20 male mice (Mus muscullus) were divided into 4 groups. K1 negative controls were given 0.5 ml of distilled water, K2 positive control by exposure to cigarette smoke and 0.5 ml of distilled water, K3 by exposure to cigarette smoke and red watermelon extract were given a dose of 22 mg / mouse and K4 by exposure to cigarette smoke and were given extracts of red watermelon a dose of 44 mg / mouse. Exposure to cigarette smoke and red watermelon extract conducted for 30 days, making blood on day 31. Blood sampling performed at Plexus Retroorbitalis. Furthermore, counting the number of leukocytes. Data were analyzed using ANOVA completely randomized design with SPSS for Windows 16.0. The results of this study showed that the extract of watermelon for 30 days showed their real influence (P <0.05) to the number of leukocytes in mice. It is concluded that free radicals contained in cigarette can cause a leukocytosis, an inflammatory, oxidative stress and red watermelon extract can minimize cell damage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant factor that clinically influent the occurrence of dehydration in goats aged 10-14 days old, in order to enhance the accuracy in diagnoinge the state of hydration. Ten native kacang goatlings were used as research objects. Kacang goatlings were dehydrated until loss 10% of their bodyweight by inducing diuretics furosemide (2mg/kg body weight every 4 hours) using intramuscularly, orally administration of spironolactone (50 mg every 8 hours) and hydrochlorothiazide (50 mg every 8 hours). Regression analysis was used to verify the correlation between clinical factors that considered potential, which are enopthalmus, skin turgor (back, neck and upper eyelid), capillary refill time, pulsus, breath, and body temperature. The results showed that enopthalmus, skin turgor on back and eye region has close correlation with dehydration occurrence with coefficient determinant R2 are 0.92; 0.90 and 0.81 respectively. It can be concluded that these three parameters can be used as predictor towards dehydration occurrence.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peran peternak terhadap keberhasilan inseminasi buatan pada sapi di Kabupaten Asahan. Data pada penlitian ini diperoleh dari lembar kuisioner dan wawancara langsung kepada 52 orang peternak pengguna IB serta data hasil IB dari dinas terkait. Hasil uji regresi stepwise, di dapat bahwa peran peternak yang paling berpengaruh nilai service per conception (S/C) adalah pekerjaan utama PNS dan pekerjaan utama peternak dengan nilai R square 0,220 dengan persamaan regresi Y = 1.408 – 0.203 X1 + 0.312 X2, sedangkan faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap nilai conception rate (CR) adalah pengalaman beternak dengan nilai R square 0,131 dengan persamaan regresi Y = 59.183 + 2.419X. Dari hasil uji regresi stepwise dapat disimpulkan bahwa karakteristik peternak yang mempengaruhi hasil IB adalah pekerjaan utama dan lama beternak.Kata kunci: Peran peternak, Inseminasi buatan. ABSTRACTThe aims of this study was to determine the role of  farmers on the success of artificial insemination in cattle in Asahan districts. The data on this study were obtained from questionnaire and interview directly to 52 ranchers of artificial insemination service users as well as artificial insemination results data from related offices. From the stepwise regression test, it was found that the role of the most influential breeder of service value per conception (S / C) was the work of the civil servant and the work of breeder with the value of R square 0,220 with regression equation Y = 1.408 – 0.203 X1 + 0.312 X2, while the factor that influence the value of conception rate (CR ) was breeding experience with value of R square 0,131 with regression equation Y = 59.183 + 2.419X. From result of stepwise regression test can be concluded that breeder characteristic influencing result of artificial insemination was work and breeding experience.Keywords: The role of farmers, Artificial insemination.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect the glucose in urine of Canis familiaris as a medical record and  a supporting early diagnostic. Urine of thirty local dogs collected from Lamposi Tigo Nagori, Sumatera Barat. Before feeding, urine was collected individually in the morning two times. This study was doing on January 2016. The strip test was soaked in urine (5-10 ml) for 30 second directly. Data of glucose was analyzed using 4 scale discoloration of semi quantitative striptest. The result showed that glucose was not detected on 25 dogs out of 30 of  C. familiaris. Amount of 5 C. familiaris were detected the presence of glucose with small (100 mg/dl) scale. We concluded that the levels of glucose C. familiaris urine performed on the tolerance limits of glucose level.

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the present status of local goats based on the age at UPT experimental animals Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Syiah Kuala University by urine examination. Sample used in this research was urine from 13 local goats (Capra sp.) male and female that collected in the morning. Dipstick urine (Verify TM) was directly dipped into the collected urine and the result were obtained by comparing with a standard color on urine dipstick (Verify TM) with interval 30-120 seconds. The semiquantitatively data obtained using urine dipstick include measurement of leukocyte, nitrite, urobilinogen, protein, pH, blood in the urine, specific gravity, ketones, bilirubin and glucose. From the results obtained age <1 year nitrite 1 goat, blood 1 goat, alkaline pH and density under normal circumstances. At the age of 1-3 years old goats there are leukocytes 4 goats, nitrite 2 goats, proteins 4 goats, bilirubin 1 goat, pH is alkaline and density under normal circumstances. In goats aged 3-4 years there is leukocytes 1 goat, nitrite 2 goats, pH is alkaline and density under normal circumstances.

Abstract

The aims of this study to find out differences in cholesterol levels hunter dog and dog house in the district of Lima Puluh Kota. This study using 99 hunter dogs and 98 dogs home in a healthy condition clinically. Dog blood samples were taken on the morning at the cephalika venous. Blood samples were obtained dripped on cholesterol strip that has been put into Gluco-dr and after 10 seconds cholesterol levels can read on screen. Data were analyzed statistically using chi-square test T which were helped by SPSS 16. The results showed that the average cholesterol levels in the dogs hunt were 87.67 ± 43.49 mg / dl and 297 in the dogs house, 72 ± 94 mg / dl. The statisticresult was showed significant difference (p <0.05) between blood cholesterol levels with a hunter dogs anddogshouse blood cholesterol levels. This research can be concluded that average of cholesterol levels of hunter dogs and dogs house were still within the normal range, but showed the sicnificant differences due to the different activities of dogs.

Abstract

This research was done to determine albumin and globulin levels of Sumatran elephants’ blood at the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC) of Saree, Aceh Besar. In this study blood samples were collected from 6 Sumatran elephants at the ECC. The levels of albumin and globulin were determined spectrophotometrically. The data obtained were analyzed by t-test. The results showed that the average levels of albumin and the globulin of Sumatran elephants were 4, 25±0, 31 g/dL and 2, 33±0, 62 g/dL. Blood albumin and globulin levels of male Sumatran elephants were 4.23±0.05 g/dL and 2.36±0.77 g/dL, respectively; and those of female Sumatran elephants were 4.16±0.49 g/dL and 2.30±0.60 g/dL, respectively. The results of data analysis using t-test showed that blood levels of albumin or globulin of male and female Sumatran elephants were not significantly different (P> 0.05). In conclusion, in the Sumatran elephants, blood albumin and globulin levels were not influenced by sex.

Abstract

Tumor (TVT) aim of this study was to find out the prevalence and the factors were of Transmissible Venereal disease transmission on Dog Hunter in Payakumbuh. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional observational study (cross-sectional). Data collected through interviews by using questionnaires and observations of the condition of the Dog Hunter. The owners of hunter dogs were selected by purposive sampling. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. Interviews were conducted with 110 people hunting dog owners with the total number of hunting dogs were observed as many as 300 individuals. The results showed that the prevalence rate of the Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) disease on Dog Hunter in Payakumbuh is 1,33%. Factors the disease emergence were the mating habits of the dog were uncontrolled, the high levels of dogs sexual activity that was free to roam, the habitual of  sniffing and licking genitals of infected dogs TVT, and also does not apply the principles of biosecurity property.
