Abstract

This study aimed to determine the differences between the effectiveness of advertising media on above the line media and below the line media used by Dehasen University Bengkulu as a promotion strategy. Thisis a quantitative survey research. Data was analyzed byusing a different test of Paired Samples T-Test. The effectiveness of advertisements was analyzed by using a descriptive analysis dimension of EPIC (Emphaty, Persuasion, Impact, dan Communication)  Model. The result showed that there are differences in the form of advertising effectiveness of UNIVED Bengkulu presented on above the line media and below the line media in influencing target audience. Emphatically, the advertisement on the top line media was able to utilize the advantages, such as visual excess in newspaper, audio visual in television, and strategic value of banners or billboards. So, persuasively, it’s able to strengthen the characters of the brand as well as foster the perception that UNIVED was identical to personal needs of being able to build awareness, understanding, and action. Meanwhile, advertisement on the bottom line media also proves its effectiveness mainly on media brochures or leaflets which have visual excess and wide space to convey the message. Another media, poster, had the same visual strength as well. However, it cannot assist optimally in associating the advertisement because it did not support the laying image that can affect audience comprehension.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the influence of interpersonal communication between students and the thesis supervisor students in the stress symptoms thesis. Based on initial observations on Communication department students of Dehasen University year 2010, of the 62 students who have submitted a title and run the thesis counseling process, only 29 students managed to reach the stage of proposal examination. One of the obstacles faced by students is the lack of good interpersonal communication so that interpersonal relationships are not well established. This research is a quantitative descriptive. Sample set by using purposive sampling of the students of Communication Department who were working on thesis, that is 38 students. The results showed that interpersonal communication between students and thesis supervisor has not been effective so that the discussion does not go well. The ineffectiveness of communication activities lead students to experience stress symptoms so that interfere the completion of thesis writing.Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Stress

Abstract

The picture of reality formed by the mass media was expected to underlie the response and attitude of the public towards various social conditions. It will indirectly affect the domestic firms, because in any case, they must be prepared to compete with other similar companies as well as the need to have courage in the face of competition from multinational companies that operate and are located in various areas. In this study the researcher used theories derived from sources that can be used as a reference. Data were collected by using interview techniques and data analysis. From the research, it’s known that the application of marketing communications strategy in Harian Rakyat Bengkulu was to attract advertising. The applied strategies was chosen by the needs, it means that the application of the strategy used is not too theoretical cultivated and made as simple as possible and inspired by the vision of the company. Basically every company (in this case Harian Rakyat Bengkulu) needed to apply marketing communication strategy in the companys vision and mission more effectively. Without the application of marketing communication strategy, the company most likely would not run well.Keywords: company, marketing communications strategy, advertiser

Abstract

This study aims to get a comprehensive picture of the pattern of communication on Berasan local customary in Bengkulu City in experiencing a cultural shift. This study uses phenomenological method by describing the phenomenon of Berasan traditions in modern era. Cultural communication pattern is social perception caused by cultural differences that affects the process of perception and including component of communication process. The result shows communication pattern of Berasan local customary of Serawai tribe with communities in Bengkulu city and the migrants has been seen form who will deal first with her parents. Communication pattern of Berasan local customary with urban community of Bengkulu, a man who came first to her house to meet directly with their parents, while communication pattern of Berasan local customary with migrants:  his deputy has to come first to the house of the women. This paper concludes that communication patterns of Berasan local customary between Serawai tribe with Bengkulu community and migrants has changed.

Abstract

IMPROVING RESOURCES OF VILLAGE SOCIETY IN COMMUNITY LEARNING ACTIVITY CENTER. The lack of productivity and economic activity carried out by the community is caused by the lack of knowledge and skills possessed. Thus, the Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) was established as a community-based education tool. PKBM Alena Smart School in Tebat Monok Village and PKBM Az-Zahir in Talang Karet Village are two of several PKBM in Kepahiang Regency. PKM team and both of PKBM are together as partners make efforts to improve community skills and improvement of education services through training and advisory methods aimed to improve the quality of production, management and marketing with an expectation of achieving economic and educational improvements that lead to improving the welfare of Tebat Monok and Talang Karet Village Community. The result of the activity that has been achieved is the formation of a small industry managed by the community of Tebat Monok in the guidance of PKBM Alena Smart School which is focused on making handicraft and handmade with trademark of Tebat Monok Thonksys Galery And Craft. As for the Talang Karet village community, the business is focused on processed foods with trademarks of Talang Karet Thonksys Cake's. For the business able to run well, team also created the training and assistance in the field of management for administration and for direct marketing activities, team created the activity about to makin display in PKBM Location and created the promotion bay the sosial media instagram. Other than that, PKM activities are also carried out to improve education services in both PKBM so that the equalization of Package A, B, and C in PKBM Alena Smart School and guidance in PKBM Az-Zahir becomes more comfortable, which is also supported by the Park Community Reading.

Abstract

The type of research that will be used in this research is qualitative descriptive research. This research is limited to the disclosure of a problem or event as it is in just to reveal the facts so that the result is emphasized in the description objectively or as is about the object under study. In this study a qualitative descriptive type was used to describe how the creative strategy of Community Service Ads "Bengkulu Maritime World Axis" by BETV. Based on the results of research and discussion of creative strategies in making public service advertisements in Bengkulu BETV neatly arranged. There are 5 creative strategies using the Rhenal Kasalli theory of creative advertising criteria, namely Attract Attention, Interest Gain, Create Desired, Conviction, and Precipate Action.

Abstract

Minimnya produktifitas dan aktifitas perekonomian yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat disebabkan oleh kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang dimiliki. Maka dari itu Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM) dibentuk sebagai sarana pendidikan berbasis masyarakat. PKBM Alena Smart School di Desa Tebat Monok dan PKBM Az-Zahir di Desa Talang Karet adalah dua diantara beberapa PKBM yang ada di Kabupaten Kepahiang. Tim PKM bersama kedua PKBM sebagai mitra melakukan upaya peningkatan keterampilan masyarakat dan peningkatan layanan pendidikan yang dilakukan melalui metode kegiatan  pelatihan dan pendampingan bertujuan membantu meningkatkan kualitas dibidang produksi, manajemen, dan pemasaran dengan harapan tercapainya peningkatan perekonomian dan pendidikan yang berujung pada peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Desa Tebat Monok dan Desa Talang Karet. Hasil kegiatan yang telah dicapai adalah terbentuknya industri kecil yang dikelola oleh masyarakat desa Tebat Monok dalam binaan PKBM Alena Smart School yang difokuskan pada pembuatan handycraft dan handmade dengan merk dagang Tebat Monok Thonksys Galery And Craft. Sedangkan untuk masyarakat desa Talang Karet, usaha difokuskan pada makanan olahan dengan merk dagang Talang Karet Thonksys Cake’s. Agar usaha dapat berkelanjutan, juga dilakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan dibidang manajemen untuk administrasi dan untuk kegiatan pemasaran yang dilakukan secara langsung dengan membuat pajangan di PKBM dan juga promosi melalui media sosial instagram. Selain itu, dalam kegiatan PKM juga dilakukan upaya peningkatan pelayanan bidang pendidikan di kedua PKBM sehingga kegiatan pendidikan kesetaraan Paket A,B, dan C di PKBM Alena Smart School serta bimbingan belajar di PKBM Az-Zahir menjadi lebih nyaman, dimana juga didukung dengan adanya Taman Bacaan Masyarakat.
