Abstract

Abstract

Kata kunci: low back pain non-spesifik, modified oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire, ultrasound, muscle energy technique, mckenzie exercise

Abstract

ABSTRACT Myogenic low back pain is a syndrome of lower back pain caused by tension of the muscles around the lower back andis a work related musculoskeletal disorder. The purpose of this study was to identify the difference in effectivenessbetween slow stroke back massage and William flexion exercise on the improvement of functional ability in individualwith myogenic low back pain. This research is an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. Thesample size is 36 people divided into two groups. Group 1 was given slow stroke back massage intervention and Group2 was given intervention of William flexion exercise. Both groups received microwave diathermy intervention as initialtherapy. Measurement of lower back functional ability using MOLDBQ. The hypothesis was tested using paired samplet-test obtained p = 0,000 with pre and post difference is 20,12 ± 1,445 in Group 1, whereas in Group 2 the result p =0.000 with pre and post difference is 9.94 ± 0.854. Comparison was tested using independent sample t-test with thedifference obtained was p = 0,000 (p <0,05). Based on statistical test results, it can be concluded that slow stroke backmassage intervention is more effective in improving functional ability compared to William flexion exercise in individualwith myogenic low back pain. Abstract

This study aims to compare ultrasound and muscle energy technique interventions more effectively than ultrasound and mckenzie exercise in enhancing functional capabilities in non-specific low back pain cases. The test used is the modified oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire for measuring functional pain. Using experimental design with pre-test and post-test group design involving a sample of 32 people divided into 2 groups. Group 1 with ultrasound treatment and muscle energy technique and group 2 with ultrasound and mckenzie exercise treatment. Hypothesis test results using independent sample t-test obtained p = 0.000 with average difference in Group I 22.85 (SD 4.348) while Group II got difference average 12,86 (SD 2,797). These results show that there is a significant difference in non-specific LBP functional pain reduction between the muscle energy technique treatment group and the mckenzie exercise treatment group. Keywords: low back pain non-spesifik, modified oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire, ultrasound, muscle energy technique, mckenzie exercise
