Abstract

Demokrasi dewasa ini selalu dikaitkan dengan representasi karena pada dasarnya perkembangan demokrasiperwakilan adalah prinsip yang harus ditegakkan di dunia modern. Konsep representasi secara sederhana dapatdiartikan sebagai menghadirkan yang tidak hadir. Namun arti ini menimbulkan keraguan dari para ahli dan dalamperkembangannya mencoba menajamkan konsep ini menjadi sebuah teori. Isu-isu kontemporer mengenai representasi politik dalam kerangka demokrasi perwakilan yang mengarusutamakan pemilu, tidak serta merta mampumenjawab persoalan di masyarakat seperti keterwakilan kelompok minoritas, perempuan dan fenomena representasinon-elektoral yang juga menjadi persoalan penting untuk dikaji.Kata Kunci: Demokrasi, Representasi Formal, Representasi non-elektoral.

Abstract

Abstract This research specifically highlights importancy of the candidation stage especially through political party channels, as strategic entry point that must be passed by female politician to compete in direct local elections. Through an in-depth analysis of the two female politicians in Grobogan and East Lampung, this research underlines the importance of three things: capital in the form of individual and social capital, strategies, and networks that politicians must have and be able to play to be nominated in direct local elections.keywords : capital, strategic, candidation, local election

Abstract

Political coalition is a necessity for a state, like Indonesia, that using multiparty system. Coalition is a mustsince the election could not provide a majority in a parliament. Some factors have determined the parties politicalbehavior in Indonesia and present two factors that would determine why were the coalition of Islamic political partiesdifficult to realize in the 2014 Presidential election. Firstly, political pragmatism has made Islamic polical partybecome cartel party in which party become agent of the state and employs the resources of the state to ensure thesurvival of the party. Secondly, Islamic political parties do not have popular figures against Prabowo and Jokowi.Keywords: political party, general election, coalition.

Abstract

Abstract Familial ties is one of the influential factors behind the rise of female local leaders. By using qualitative method this study examined two female local leaders namely Airin Rachmi Diany in Tangerang Selatan and Anna Sophanah in Indramayu, who have emerged by means of familial ties factor. It focuses to reveal the socio-political, economic and historical features that have facilitated their political rise. Additional data was obtained through questionnaires in order to evaluate their performance in enhancing local democratization, including commitment on practical gender interests. This study reveals that the female local leaders, who come from strong familial ties background, are actually part of local oligarch. As consequences, they experienced difficulties in maintaining independency to the local oligarch, which resulted in weak performance to enhance local democratization, as well as, practical gender interests in the region.  Keywords: female local leader, familial ties, local democratization, practical gender interest.

Abstract

Pulau-pulau kecil terluar di Indonesia merupakan wilayah yang rentan dalam menghadapi hambatan dan tantangan yang berasal dari internal maupun eksternal. Perlu perlakuan khusus bagi wilayah tersebut terutama yang berbatasan dengan negara lain. Pulau Marore menjadi salah satu Pulau kecil terluar di sisi Utara Indonesia yang berbatasan langsung dengan Filipina. Sebagai pintu gerbang aktivitas tradisional dan internasional, Pulau Marore tak luput dari terpaan arus globalisasi. Tulisan ini mengkaji mengenai ketahanan sosial budaya masyarakat perbatasan di Pulau Marore yang dilihat dari kemampuan masyarakat menghadapi hambatan/tantangan secara internal dan eksternal. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi lapangan dan wawancara dengan masyarakat Marore. Temuan lapangan menunjukkan bahwa ketahanan sosial masyarakat Marore terbilang rentan karena memiliki keterbatasan dalam penguasaan modal alam, infrastruktur, sumber daya manusia dan perekonomian. Akan tetapi, ketahanan budaya masyarakat Marore tetap terjaga melalui suatu tradisi leluhur yang hingga kini masih dipegang teguh oleh masyarakat Sangir yakni tradisi tulude. The outermost small islands in Indonesia face an internal or external obstacles and challenges. Special treatment is needed for the islands bordering with other country. Marore Island became one of the outermost small island in the North side of Indonesia, which is directly adjacent to the Philippines. As the gates of traditional and international activities, Marore Island did not escape the onslaught of globalization. This article examines the social and cultural resilience in the border of Marore Island, seen from the ability of people facing barriers/challenges internally and externally. Data was conducted with field observation and in-depth interviews. The result show that despite Marore society has limitations in infrastructure, socio-economic, and human resources, Marore's cultural resilience is maintained through an ancestral tradition which is still firmly held by the Sangir community, namely “Tulude” tradition.
