Abstract

Thyroxine hormones (T4) is a technology that is used to stimulate fish growth. This hormone is produced by the thyroid gland and functioning in general metabolism and growth. This study was conducted from May-July 2016 in Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Department of Aquaculture, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. This study was aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the thyroxine hormone (T4) at different dosages to the growth of Pawas fish (Osteochillus hasselti CV), and reared with different density. This study used a complete randomized design with two factors (densities and dosages of hormones) and 3 repetitions. The densities that used were 20, 30 and 40 fish / cage. The hormone dosages given in this study were 2, 4, and 6 mg/kg. The results showed that the density 20 fish/cage is the best density in Pawas culture where the best result of the growth parameters obtained. Addition of thyroxine at a dosage of 6 mg / kg of feed provided the best results on the absolute weight growth (5:12 ± 1.70 g), daily growth rate (2.64 ± 12:47%), protein retention (58.76 ± 8:34%) and the levels of muscle glycogen (4:54 ± 0.20). Addition of thyroxine at a dosage of 4 mg/kg feed gave the best results in the absolute long growth (4.72± 0.89 cm), feed conversion ratio (1:44 ± 0.57), fat retention (108.50 ± 12:47%) and the levels of liver glycogen (6:12 ± 2.60).

Abstract

The presence of fish cage culture activities may affects the environmentalcondition as the remain of fish feed pellets may enter the surrounding water and itmay serve as food resources for wild fish species such as Puntius schawanefeldi .To understand the impact of fish floating cage activities on feeding habit of P.schawanefeldi and economical condition of traditional fishermen in the KotoPanjang Dam, a study has been conducted on April to June 2013. Fish sampleswere collected from 5 stations, Stations 1, 2 and 3 were in the dam, around thecage, while station 4 and 5 were in the area that has no cage. Data of 24 hoursfish feeding habit were obtained by capturing fish for a 3 days period (once/ 3hours, at different time). Stomach content was then removed, identified andanalyzed using a volumetric method. Results shown that the stomach content offish living around the cage and the fish living far from the cage are different.Stomach content of the fish from the 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd stations was dominated byfish feed pellet remains (>90%), while that of the fish living in the area with nocage was dominated by debris (>90%). These facts indicate P. schawanefeldi is anopportunist fish, its feeding habit is changing. Fish living around the cage preferto feed on commercial fish feed pellet remains. The presence of P. schawanefeldiaround the cage, however, increase the income of traditional fishermen as theyable to caught around 50 – 80 kg of fish/ week, compare to 10 – 20 kg fish/ weekin the 4 th and 5 th stations. Data obtained indicate that the presence of fish cageaffect the feeding habit of P. schawanefeldi and positively affect the income of thetraditional fishermen.Keywords: Puntius schawanefeldi, feeding habit, fish floating cage, KotoPanjang Dam

Abstract

A Muslim views that nature belongs to God and human beings must show that they are grateful by learning how to use and manage it well so that it can provide benefits to the mankind. Exploiting nature taught by Islam is based on the utilization of responsibility that provides benefits not only for its content but also its intact and sustainable opportunities to cultivate and for rehabilitation or to help speed up its recovery. Humans are required to have certain characters towards nature, which means dealing with nature by maintaining sustainability. Therefore, God gives cues to enable people to control themselves in exploitation of the natural resources which causes defection that can harm and even destroy human life. For that reason, Islam forbids destructing or harming the environment ranging from very small actions and trivial such as prohibiting throwing human faces under a fruit tree, in the river, on the road, or in the shelter areas. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is also very concerned about the preservation of wildlife, as described in the Hadith narrated by Abu Dawood. Even Prophet never reprimanded one of his companions during the Hijrah period to take the chicks out of the nest. Abstract

Analysis of heavy metals content Pb, Cu and Zn in sea water and Oyster (C.cucullata) in Loskala River Estuary has been conducted from July – August 2013.Samples of sea water andOyster (C. cucullata) were taken from five stations withthree replicates at each station. Heavy metals content analysis was carried out inthe KLH Pekanbaru Laboratory by using an Atomic AbsorptionSpectrophotometer Shimadzu AA-7000. The results showed that average haeavymetals content in sea waters were 0,077 μg/L (Pb), 0,045 μg/L (Cu) ), 0,125 μg/L(Zn) and in Oyster (C. cucullata) were 14,454 μg/g (Pb), 103,778 μg/g (Cu) ),111,611 μg/g (Zn) respectively. Simple linear regression analysis indicatespositive correlation between metals contentin sea water and in Oyster (C.cucullata) with Y =12,79+ 21,57X (r = 0,153) Pb ; Y = 8,384 + 2117X (r = 0,437)Cu and Y =93,76 +142,8X (r = 0,432) Zn.Keywords : Heavy Metal, Water, Oyster, Loskala River Estuary

Abstract

The effect of garlic and wild ginger have been to be alternative solution to recovery of fish which attacked by fungus and bacterial disease.  But have not been information how its effects to survivel rate of juvenile, because juvenile usualy attack by fungus disease.  Aimed of this research was how the effect of extract of garlic and wild ginger to climbing fish juvenile.  The method of this research was enrichment of Tubifex sp with garlic and wild ginger extract.  The result of this research was no significant between treatment.

Abstract

This Research aims to determine the success of the semi-natural spawningin mosaic gouramy (Trichogaster leeri Blkr) by giving different substrates on thecontainer spawning. a pair of mosaic gouramy that have matured gonadscombined at the aquarium spawning that has been equiped with running watersystems. Treatments given were different substrates at the aquarium, P1 = thewater hyacinth substrate, P2 = hydrilla substrate, P3 = the smoothed rafia ropesubstrate. Each treatment carried out repeated three times to obtain 9 units trial.Parameters measured were spawning time, amount of eggs spawned, the value offertilization and egg hatchability values. The results showed that the besttreatment is the treatment P2 (hydrilla substrate) produces the shortest duringspawning time 49.33 hours, amount of eggs spawned 195 eggs, fertility value of71.93% and 60.09% egg hatchability.Keywords: Trichogaster leeri, spawning time, amount of eggs spawned, valueof fertilization and egg hatchability values

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted from May to June 2017 at The Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Faculty University of Riau. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of ovaprim and hCG ovulation and egg quality climbing pearch (Anabas testudineus Bloch) fish. The treatment used in this research was in injection of ovaprim and hCG with different doses is : P1: ovaprim 0,5 ml/kg body weight, P2 : ovaprim 0,7 ml/kg body weight, P3 : hCG 500 IU/kg body weight, P4 : hCG 1000 IU/kg body weight and 1 ml of NaCl physiology 0,9%/kg of body weight. The result showed that ovaprim dose of 0,5 ml/kg of body weight was the bestin turn of latency time of 4,23 hours, total oegg stripping 974 egg/g gonads, egg diameter 0,11 mm, egg maturity 29% and Ovi Somatic Index 25,4%. The temperature ranged from 27-29ºC, pH was 4-6 and DO (Disolved Oxygen) 3,76 ppm.Key word : Ovaprim, hCG, Ovulation, Anabas testudineus Bloch

Abstract

A study aims to find out a domestication and gonad maturationtechnique of Wallago sp captured in the Kampar River, Riau has benn conductedon May to Nopember 2009. Fish samples were kept in 1 x 2 x 1.5 m cages, 6fishes/cages. The fishes were treated with three types of food. Results shown thatWallago domestication can be conducted by rearing the fish for 4 weeks. Theproper food for the fishes are sinking pellet 888-S (4) (P3), floating pellet CPPP781 (P2), and floating pellet T 79 – 3P (PI). The total growth rate , total lengthand daily growth rate of treated fish are 647.77 gr; 9.3933 cm and 0.320 % for P3;426.67 gr; 6.8367 cm and 0.226 % for P2 and 353.34 gr; 6.00 cm and 0.1911 %for P1. However, there are only 1st and 2nd gonad maturity level obtained in thetreated fishes. Survival rate of the fishes in 100 %.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the best stocking solid in the gonad maturation of Tricho-gaster leeri Blkr in cages placed in ponds. Cage size used is 1 x 1 x 1 m were placed in thepond Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, Riau University with a solid stocking respectivelyP1 = 30 fishes/cage, P2 = 40 fishes/cage and P3 = 50 fishes /cage. The fish were reared for 6(six) weeks, during maturation of fish feed shrimp pellets + vitamin E. Maturation observa-tions conducted each week by taking 20% of the samples. Parameters measured were maturitylevel, gonado somatic index (GSI), fecundity, egg diameter, semen volume, and mortality.The results showed that the best treatment was P1 = 30 fishes/cage produce attainment gonadmaturation (TKG IV) was 2 fishes, gonado somatic index (GSI) was 8.36 %, fecundity was1004 eggs, egg diameters was 0.66 mm, semen volume was 0.0173 ml and mortality was 2fishes.]Key wood:Trichogaster leeri, gonad maturation, fecundity, semen volume andmortality

Abstract

This research aims to understand the effect of dosages combination ofmixed ovaprim and PGF2 α injection toward volume and quality of semen ofOmpok hypophthalmus. There were 5 treatments applied, namely A1 = 50 %ovaprim + 50 % PGF2 α/kg body weight (BW), A2 = 75 % ovaprim + 25 % PGF2α/kg BW, A3 = 25 % ovaprim + 75 % PGF2 α/kg BW, A4 = 100 % ovaprim /kgBW and A5 = 100 % PGF2 α / BW. The best combination of ovaprim and PGF2α for male fish was the A4= 100 % ovaprim (0,9 ml ovaprim/kg BW). Theaverage of semen volume produced was 0,87 ml, sperm concentration was 18,43x 10 9/ml, sperm viability was 88,67 % and sperm motility was 86,0 %.
